Ferdi on jet?

hopefully this is gonna be a thing. No hate on ferdi but I always though it was kinda wack for him to talk so much about ski industry big companies and all that jazz and still ride for k2. Ferdi is now full core mode

He was riding Armadas earlier. It's possible he's just on the skis because he likes them / the team but who knows. Ferdi could probably get a contract + a pro model from any small brand out there

Honestly it would be mistake for him. Jet probably doesn't have proper funds to support him like some other companies do.

They probably sell a good amount of skis and spend near zero on marketing. They don’t do warranties and no real cost in product development. I don’t see any reason that they wouldn’t be able to pay a few riders as well or better than larger brands.

Dude I bet k2 sells 100x more park skis than jet, no exaggeration. Their skis are also for sure way cheaper to produce. Would love to see ferdi on jet but there is absolutely no way they can cut a check the same size as k2 UNLESS they have some source of outside funding, which wouldn’t be that surprising. Maybe they are offering ferdi equity in the company? Either way, saving money on instagram ads doesn’t mean that jet has the same cash flow as k2, I doubt it’s even close

I heard from a decently reliable source that he's just fully on jet

From a marketing perspective, probably the worst ski brand name you could have. I'm trying to search for them but everything I try results in the first 10 pages being about watercraft. Anyone have a link to their website?

Jetskis.xyz but there’s really not much on the ski and I’ve never seen a review of them since they’re supposed to stay underground. I’ve talked to a good number of their riders and only heard great things though.

Thanks. I doubt they'll be around long if they're making an effort to stay underground. Unless it's just someone's hobby and they have another job or enough money this is more for the fun of it.

Ive been trying to get myself a pair of jets because they typically make a unique ski every “generation” or gen each year, and some gens are more sought out than others. although the last 2 years they’ve stuck with one relatively stiff ski and one soft ski. Plus they put out sick street/park cuts across a few YouTube channels

Oh damn. I hope we get an edit.

This is just speculation but I wonder if Jet is mostly owned by Icelantic but ran by the riders.

Og da nollie was lit af. Cool to see that it’s being kept around. Topsheets were amazing.

Probably gonna be in the jetskis movie in 2025, which jokes aside if they do release a movie in 2025 and it bangs as hard as it could, I think the entire perception of jet is gonna change amongst the casuals

My guess is that it's owned by icelantic but they let the riders make the marketing material / manage the team. And they seem to sell out every run so I don't think they're going to cut the program. I doubt the jetskis team is getting paid a whole lot haha.

I promise you jet is not owned by Icelantic

Jet's entire operating costs are probably based purely on the manufacturing costs to make their skis, as long as people buy the skis I can't see anything negative happening to them. Doesn't seem like Sanch&Co are interested in running a legit, wide-scale ski business.

There WILL be a movie around then, they've been talking about it since like 2022. Hoping its as ground breaking as zootspace was a few years ago.

It's owned primarily by sanch, never summer manufactures their skis.

I don’t know anything I’m just speculating. It just seems strange that they’re producing the same ski as an old icelantic in the same factory but aren’t owned (even partially) by them. Although I guess if they were run by Icelantic they’d probably at least give people shipping numbers lmao

reminds me of Valo in rollerblading, a “rider owned” brand that used a mold owned by Roces. Turned out they were in fact largely owned by Roces and the rider owned thing was for marketing.

First generation jets were essentially direct copies of Icelantic DaNollies, I believe they bought the old press or something but I'm not really sure. Second gens were a different shape, less rocker, and I believe a little stiffer. Third gens introduced the wides which idk anything specific about them.

Makes sense. I guess they could have just bought the da'nollie molds or whatever from icelantic and they aren't involved.

Current gens are still the exact same dimensions / rocker profile as the Da'nollie but I think they've been made stiffer. The wides are the same rocker profile and sidecut as far as I can tell but 5mm wider all around and a bit stiffer

My assumption is that they operate kinda like Magma, all these mini parts they've been dropping are just leftovers from what will be a generational banger.

where did you get this idea from lol

I’m really just yapping. Seemed weird to me that they were making an old Icelantic model in the same factory that’s all. There are several rollerblade brands with the same business model (ie owned by parent company but partially owned / ran by athletes)

It would be so dope if the movie dropped exclusively as a DVD

In one year K2 probably sells more skis in the state of idaho than jet does globally

Thats the whole point though. They use him to than get enough attention from others to gain the proper funds.

They also have almost 400 people working full time for them that they have to pay, and a lot of those skis are sold to shops at wholesale.

Ok let’s say jet makes 20 bucks for each pair of skis sold and they sell 500, that’s 10k. K2 has higher operating costs so they only make 5 bucks for each pair of skis, but they sell 50,000 pairs, that’s 250k.

I think shit is going to change when the movie drops in 2025. They have been lurking underground for a few years now, building hype around the brand but probably operating at a loss. Then they will drop a legendary movie and expand production at the same time, maybe with outside investment money of some sort. I think that would be a smart move, a lot of these rider owned brands are often greeted with skepticism by the community and I think a lot of them fuck it up by coming on too strong in a way. Look at 1000 skis, I honestly can’t think of many brands that get ripped on harder than they do, and I think it has a lot to do with the way they came into the scene. Their marketing is pretty over the top and obnoxious, flooding social media with content that immediately alienated their target buyer. Vishnu played it way more low key and based their marketing around street skiing content, which is similar to what jet is doing now, and now there are Vs everywhere. The original Vishnu website was almost as mysterious as jetskis, nobody even knew where they were made or what the turn radius was (still unknown?). Lotta speculation here but I’m very interested to see where this brand goes after the movie drops and signing a big name skier like ferdi would also be a game changer.

I think this is a good theory, maybe ferdi will be part owner or something

Heard from a reliable source that Ferdi saw PC local [tag=264602]@keagan.karstens[/tag] had switched from riding K2's to jets and hopped on the bandwagon and made the switch as well

Ferdi was riding the 190cm Jet ski the entire week at sugar bowl for jib league fwiw.

Could see Armada being a better fit for him, they at least have some kind of budget for team shoots etc.

As a huge fan of Ferdi and his skiing I have also noticed this and wondered when there would be a thread.

Here are some of the observations i made throughout the season:

- Ferdi riding K2 Pochers with black topsheets (painted?) I thought he might test some K2 protos and could maybe even get a promodel from them (there were rumors in the Gear Hype Thread but they turned out to be about Karls promodel)

-Ferdi gets hooked up from Quan with those two old different Al Dentes (probably 188s) as Al Dentes dont come in 188 anymore

-rumors about Ferdi on Armada after Ferdi posts a pipe clip on some Strangers

-Jetskis release a new gen of skis out of nowhere as they always do. With some carbon looking topsheets. Dylan Manley mocks the topsheets in a story post with a doodle dick drawn on some cardboard which looks like the Jetski topsheets which says „Jets“ in it.

-Ferdi posts a screenshot of a call between him and @jetskis.xyz on his story

-Ferdi appears on Jets shortly after this. First in the teaser to the sugar bowl stop of Jib League and now in all the Jibleague videos.

Those are my observations in chronological order. I had the idea that Ferdi might want to start to get some Capeesh x Jetski collabo going.

I‘m not a huge fan of Jetskis to be honest. I always get some „to cool for everybody else“ vibes from their riders, videos and forced „underground marketing“ and „cool playing“.

Zootspace was groundbreaking though and I am hyped about the movie they might put out.

Hope they focus on skiing and have not only smashed couch tables for the last 2 years.

If Ferdi is now on Jet the movie will have Joel Magnusson, Lauri and Ferdi which would be way to crazy!

cant forget Charlie Gnoza too, pretty sure he’s the only one of only ones besides Joel tossing dubs and triples on jets
