My snowboarding friend claims that snowboarders count the flip in the rotation. I've told him many times that this is straight up wack and flawed but he totally thinks he's right. It really irks me. He thinks a frontflip 1 (overflip) is a misty 5 and a misty 5 is a misty 9... whaaaaaat
 
Let's think about this for a second, shall we? Describe a rodeo 5 on skis.

Oh, wait...it's a slightly off-axis backflip 180. The same fucking thing as on a snowboard.
 
Except not because If you were to closely watch the a rodeo 5 you would see the rider face forwards at the takeoff, face backwards, forwards, then backwards again at which point they finish their flip rotation.

The flip counts as 360 as it's a 360 degree rotation. With triple corks and even dubs people are are doing more flip less spin. With a single cork there' a ton of time to spin. With a double some people are doing some solid ones. When you get to triple cork it's tough for people just to get a triple flip around and the amount of spinning with it is minimal.

Lisa Cinnamon is still the only girl to double cork but you watch, this bitch will get more press for her stupid double back flip because she has one board attached to her feet instead of two.
 
your snowboard buddy is right. SKiers do the same thing too. Misty 5= frontflip+180 (more or less)

Misty 9=frontflip+540 (more or less)

1) your friend is right, the flip counts as part of the trick name.. when you look at all the different tricks and how they work you'll realize it makes perfect sense... so yes a front with a 180 (put simply) is a misty 5

2) re: wah wah that's not a cork it's a flip, that's not a dub cork that's a switch 180 to double backy to 180 im an idiot

snowboarders don't split hairs about trick names like skiers do, and for good reason

3) @skiierman snowboarding isn't whack at all. women's snowboarding mostly is but this chick slays

Really impressive trick, going huge, way more than I'll ever have the balls or talent to do on snow, but yeah. Trick naming conventions are always subject to disagreement, hair-splitting bullshit, etc., but c'mon. There's no rotation in the trick She opens her hips to the landing, does straight up double backie and pushes a late front 90 around. If the rotation was a little more fluid and not so distinctly 90, flip flip, 90, I wouldn't give a shit. Actually I don't give a shit. Cool double cork!

So far the only females to do doubles in skiing or snowboarding are from Austria.

This is only from my knowledge...
 
Cheryl Maas has been doing these since 11. Aimee Fuller and Kimmy Fasani also been doing dubs for years, who cares? Nothing styley or special compared to those

You know how fucking hard it is to ride a dirtbike over technical shit at low speeds, right?

I doubt you or most of this site could do a full lap on that course without ending up on the other side broke off and gasping for air. I mean they still look like a bunch of baby deer trying to ride a horse so that's awesome.
