The point of concealed carry is, in the event that something pops off, you are prepared.

Let me guess, you're from a small white town (Bellaire possibly), and have never experienced anything sketchier than maybe a homeless man walking down the street.

In cities, and populated areas, there is a much higher rate of crime. It makes complete sense that people would concealed carry.

If my life is in danger in any way, whether I'm armed or not, I will render the attacker unconscious or dead if I am capable. I'm not going to take the chance that this person could kill me and let it happen because "youre not a man" if you pull a gun.

I think people that hide behind guns in gang related or fight related issues are pussies. Don't get me wrong. If you get into a fist fight and then lose and find the need to "get revenge" or feel overwhelmed and draw on someone, you are a fucking pussy. I'm very pro gun and very concealed carry. And in principle I don't have a problem with open carry, but I have noticed a trend where usually anyone carrying open, is a douche trying to make a point or stir up trouble.

Yes it varies by state but you are A OK in Maine at 18 to concealed carry. Idk if there is an age difference (and doubt it) for open carry.

I get what you mean i am from canada and i am road tripping through the states and today i saw a man just casual walking with a gun in a fast food resturant and it made me feel pretty uncomfortable, i am just wondering why it is needed for a 5 minute stop in a mcdonalds

It is not just for a 5 minute stop, that guy in all likeliness carries a gun with him 100% of the time. There are a lot of reasons why people would carry a gun on them.

Wow, great use of the police force. You wouldn't be wasting their time at all. I definitely agree, they should be exploited to intercept someone who isn't a threat when they could be stopping real criminals.

I want to be able to immediately spot a threat to my life, and when i see some shithead looking character with a gun know he is up to no good and eliminate that threat from my life as quickly as possible. I dont want to have that immediate threat to my life hovering around me and visually making me keep my hackles up and consider that a "normal" way to live.

How is that not a good use of the police? i identified a mass murder threat and tried to do something about it.

I saw a sketchy looking guy with a gun walk into a walmart. how do you not immediatley call the cops? How does the guy who watched the LA theater shooter walk into a theater with a gun feel? probly not great, even though he was "supporting open carry".

open carrying a weapon does not identify someone as a mass shooter. Now if they walked in with it out and in their hand that would be different but a holstered weapon is not enough to identify someone as any more of a mass shooter than anyone else in the room/building/street.

I don't call the cops on someone because they buy bleach - and will sleep soundly at night even if they go on to poison someone.

I think any reasonable person is right to be slightly alarmed when an individual (whom you know nothing about, including their ideas concerning human dignity, autonomy, and value of human life) walks into a normal place of business carrying a dangerous weapon (of any sort).

Legality aside, if I was at a Dunkin Donuts and 4 people walked in, each carrying their favorite ninja turtle's weapon, and then a 5th guy walks in with a gun, I wouldn't feel any different towards any of them- they are all carrying weapons, and I would be slightly worried.

People carrying weapons in civil society should make citizens feel uneasy because (while it may very well be their constitutional right to carry them) their intentions are unknown. And as the weapons's potential for inflicting damage increases, so does people's unease. This is why people get alarmed around strangers carrying guns and they should have every right to be alarmed.

This is further intensified due to the common notion (not necessarily correct on, but one that is held) that the general run of people are guided by emotional reaction rather than calm reason. And when this permeates the thought of the majority of people, adding guns to the matter doesn't put anyone at ease. And if it does, you are either way too trusting of common people or know something about them that allows you to be trusting of them. While some people believe that owning a gun implies that one possesses the proper way one should own a gun, it simply does not necessarily follow. There is no direct link and to always assume that is dangerous.
