Enough With The Tall Tees

My friend, relax. It's just an icon. If your really that concerned, call the NS police with claims of theft.

Sorry for the dub post.

People should be able to wear whatever they want. I just find it really funny when kids try to look exactly like a pro. They get the same jacket, pants, goggles, bandanna, helmet, etc.

omg lol so one time i got this coat that was medium and it fit me super good and i liked it a lot it was a burton ronin jacket the same one steve stepp wore accept 5 sizes smaller but i liked it and i had these striped pants vertical stripes that my friends mom made me buy but i didn't really like them but i wore them any way because they were coridroy but then i started to look like this (down) and it didnt make me happy becaus when i was steezing hard radical core i felt like a tree. man on right.
tallest-man.jpg

so now that ive felt like a tree for 5 years of my life i want to get some super tall and baggy cloths to that i can look more steezy and my friends will like me more and then i can just frontside a box or a rail and it will look cool and people will think that i am a good skier and that i can do more than that but i just dont want to right now and i dont have to prove myself because i am wearing baggy clothing so basicaly what i am saying i dont like looking like a tree man ^ above and id rather look like this
tall-tee.jpg

and become this
Young_Buck.JPG

so come on! enough with people saying
you-re-gay1.jpg

get your tall tee's and REP THE HOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! because anything else is gay!!!

Can someone tell me what henrik wearing a big shirt and a "Young Buck" have in common? How does wearing large, freeski-oriented clothing target you out as an inner city gangbanger? Do they even wear baggy ski stuff and tall tee's in the ghetto? Have some of them even seen snow? I think they normally just wear some sort of tacky shirt or whifebeater with big, bedazzled jeans and some basketball hat. And those shirts aren't that big. There is no relationship whatsoever involved, so that can't be an excuse for backing up your opinion.

Nobody has the right to change or decide what another person wears, but everybody has a right to their own opinion.

Well said, there are tons of skiers out there with different styles.

Also, I thought skiing actually was a bit inspired by hiphop, with probably most of the skiing edits out there is put together with a mashup by biggie and jay-z, and that kind of style. Don't really see that as a problem tho..

This. Take a look at mrstskier. Dude rocks a 4bi9 tall tee in his instructional edit about how to wax properly and could completely own you in ski gear info. I know that may be one guy but theres plenty others.

And yeah, we may look back at our lives thinking "why in the hell did I wear all that dumb shit when I skied?" But who gives a fuck? We're having the time of our lives and thats all that really matters in the end.

"2- Tall tees show that you HAVE your own style and want to stand out."
Yup, you'll definitely be the only person on the hill wearing a tall tee.

ha, for a topic that you all claim has already been talked about enough it took less than 24 hours to get 120 replies out of you whiney bitches. i'm not telling anybody what to do, just venting my frustrations about what i see as a weak point in the freeskiing community in what i though was a forum for discussion.

btw - thanks for all the karma hate, as a previous contributor to the site i racked up quite a bit but could care less to see it plummet for giving my opinion on what turned out to be a very touchy subject for many. i see that you all take great offense to people talking smack about your steeze

for the record i could give a shit what you all wear. just know that once you take off the blinders only allowing you to see the world through the eyes of a thugged out skier you might be surprised at what you see

so basically skiing is not about being individual because we should follow snowboarders so we get more time on fuel tv and non skiers like us more

My mom still gets me dressed before i play in the snow.

including shoving me into a nice tall tee =]

i will keep repping them!

you make hugggggge assumptions about people you don't know. The reason your thread blew up to 120 posts is because every single person is telling you you are a moron and to shut the fuck up. 120 posts out of 160,000 members isn't shit... don't flatter yourself.

Again, shut up with your self righteous posts about other people.

"talking smack about your steeze"? clearly YOU are the one who is butt hurt about other people having a good time and doing what they want. Let others wear what they want and you can "stand out" by copying pollard and max hill as much as you want. We won't "talk smack aboout your steeze" just because you are "different" (but really the exact same as everyone else)

You're the whiny bitch that made this thread BITCHING about kids wearing tall tees!

Who cares if you contributed. You're still an egotistical faggot who thinks he's more mature and wiser than all of us.

who the fuck cares. people should ski how they want and wear what they want. as in everyday life, people have different style choices.

75% of the people that are wearing tall tees, aren't wearing them because they randomly decided it would be cool and want to be different. They're wearing them because they saw someone else wear one. Whether it was another NSer or a pro.
Just pointing that out to everyone that thinks they're being different by wearing tall tees. I could care less. I wear tall hoodies.

Yeah but I do it because I like it. If there was a mountain full of skiers that wore cut belly shirts, I wouldn't wear it.

I wonder if this guy knows that he can have his own style? he doesnt need to preach at us just because he wants to stop wearing tall tees.

anyone else notice this post kinda contradicts itself when he says skiing should switch to a 'new style' then goes onto say everyone needs to work on their own 'style'

fuck you bro, quit worrying about what other people like or find stylish.

Style goes way beyond just clothing good sir..why dont you stop worrying about such silly things and enjoy a skier or skiing for what they do and what it is

Do you snowboard? I bet if you went on Burton.com/forums or whatever the fuck their equivalent of NS is and looked around, you'd find out about the noobs who do the same tricks as all the other snowboarders, just like skiers do.

I disagree with almost every call out in this thread. Are you saying that kids these days can't do switch ups or twos out or KFeds or whatever JUST BECAUSE people have been doing them for a while? FYI those snowboarders you're thinking of? Their counterparts in skiing are just as creative - look at Hornbeck, Delorme, Walker, Pollard, Morrison, Pep, Benchetler, and pretty much every other skier. Its not the general snowboarding community who is creative, its their spokesmen, the pros, the people you see in pro videos. Deal with it.

I hope you realize that there is EVERYTHING unique about skiing. Look at it from the bigger picture, the outside of NS picture - can you pick out an NSer on the mountain by what he/she is wearing? Hell yeah. Compared to everyone else we're damn unique.

Besides, everyone except the pros are going to be followers; thats the way it is. No one was wearing tight pants until Blake Nyman and Max Hill did, and no one was doing the shit Pep and Pollard were doing till they did it. This sport is ALL ABOUT EMULATING - these people have the resources and time (they're pro skiers, duh) to do what they want to do, and if its different, it is, so what. Sometimes its sick, sometimes its lame, but regardless, they like it so they do it. Are you saying people can't like tall tees because other people have?

Skiers are not all the same, and skiing is not about KEEPING IT ORIGINAL OR CREATING YOUR OWN STYLE: WHO GIVES A FUCK? Skiing's about having fun, and doing a kfed and afterbanging floats your boat and makes you feel good then you go ahead and do that. Don't lose sight of that, NEVER lose sight of that; if skiing is what makes you happy then it doesn't matter how you dress.

That's just my two cents. To the OP, if you think you can tell everyone what to wear, you can go fuck yourself. Until you show up at my house with a gun to confiscate my tall tees, I'm gonna keep wearing them. I like them - I like how they fit, how they feel, how they hang, and I think they're sick. No one cares what you think - you can have an opinion but you can't tell me what to do.

/rant.

If skiing is so " Individual " then why don't you worry about your " Individual " self and not other people.. Just because you don't like something, does not mean others don't.. EVERYONE should wear what they want to wear.

Really? you're gonna tell the people on NEWSCHOOLERS that we don't care about the sport and it's future? What do you think newschoolers even stands for? And would you rather the other people (i.e. mainstream media like FuelTV which hardly gives skiing the time of day) see us as the pussies who wear skinny pants and earthy colors? We're just making the sport more interesting and fun.

just let it fucking die. let people wear what they want, its not like it affects you. and if youre really "worried" about the future of skiing with us looking like clowns, just look at skateboarding. they dress like goons too and theyre fine, not to mention how many snowboarders who wear tall tees and shit and theyre pretty mainstream too. so just relax, dont try to police what people wear.

Perhaps these people want to look like this... and it is their individual taste in style... it just so happens that a lot of people have this liking. If you don't like it, don't wear it. Maybe skiers should get style advice from the Rome snowboards team? Tight jeans and xtra small flannels?

Just pointing this out, again. Most of the people wearing tall tees are wearing them because they were influenced by someone else. So technically it's not there "individual" style. It's funny how many kids I can say "that kids a newschooler" just because he's wearing a tall tee, and most of the time I'm right. I wear tall hoodies... woo hoo. Someone please delete this thread. It's full of fail.

Read. Its a skill. She didn't say it was their individual style, she said it was their TASTE in style. So what if they like tall tees?

I'll refer you to my post above, which is not, in fact, full of fail.
