He is staying at the Sounders until the 15/16 season, but no way he gets loaned that low. I just think its a stupid move by Tottenham. He is backing up Kyle Walker AND Danny Rose, both of whom are under the age of 25.

I've heard he's moving to Tottenham in January. The only reason he would go to League One is because Swindon Town and Tottenham have some partnership. I would have been happy for him to go to Roma or a low level PL team instead.

No chance he'd see any time at Roma. They've got Cole, Balzarretti(sp?), Maicon, and the Greek right back all ahead of him. He honestly should have to a mid/low level team in one of the big leagues, Bundesliga, Serie A, BPL, maybe even Ligue 1. Spurs bench is better than MLS for his development as Baker said, but he should have pushed for a move elsewhere. Then again a mid/low level team probably wouldnt be willing to pay as much for someone as unproven as him

This.

I think a low level team with proven young player capabilities is a ripe ground for these young American players. This move to Tottenham could stagnate his growth for all we know. If he truly is the future of American soccer, along with Julian Green and that crew, then he will find a way to a better team. But to thrust him onto a bench where he will see very little time? Stupid. He does not have the technical skill to be able to play a left winger position like Danny Rose either, further limiting his ability to get field time.

I would just like to add that I will attempt to be at the Chelsea V Arsenal match in early October. I hope I can get a ticket!!

I'm seriously ticked over this.

If I was a CP fan I would be as well. He did a great job for them when he was appointed. Apparently it is due to his requests for more funds for transfers and having them denied. He wanted them to contend, apparently the board was fine with mediocrity.

The board should have been willing to do anything to keep him. He wasn't even requesting outrageous funds from what the article said. If you don't try to improve personnel in the offseason, no matter how well you did, you're going to take a step back. He's one of the last people I would have seen being "fired"

yeah, they fucked this one up.

Still at a loss of why Januzaj starts off on the bench and Chicharito starts today. Nani is worthless as well. IMO besides Januzaj, Manchester United has some piss-poor wingers.

If you haven't watched this Everton game, you missed out. A tale of two halves.

damnit i was at work and they wouldnt let me put it on! oh well at least i get to watch arsenal:)

Cp played well, did nothing offensively in the second half but played very organized d. Giroud is an obvious starter IMO. Ramsey somehow always finds the right place. Those are the games they have to win. Definitely felt like the first game of the season, Lots of players out of sycn with each other. Excited for another fun season!

awful by arsenal but I guess if you're going to score, might as well do it in the 46th and 91st minutes

That fifa scripting score line haha.

They weren't awful but weren't great by any means necessary. Chambers played well, Ox disappointed a bit with way-ward balls, Giroud should definitely start over Sanogo, Alexis played well for his first game. At least they managed to scrap together the 3 points.

Despite preseason games, no team looked sharp today. Everton looked out of sorts, Arsenal too, don't get me started on Man U.

Time to shake off the rust boys.

It is promising for Arsenal if they can score in games like that though. You need results like that if you want to challenge for the title.

As Everton are my official favorite epl team (first time I've had one), it was disappointing to see them give away the lead twice on somewhat sloppy goals, but Leicester did play well. Barkley coming back is going to be big for Everton, one way or another

Could be too late by that point. Rumors have it he could be out up to 5 months.

yah it sounds like he is done for a while, thats a huge loss for them. if newcastle can keep up that play i see them challenging for top 7 pretty easily. i knew cabella was good but i didnt realize he would fit so well. especially for his first game. rivieria (sp?) did very well also. all these young french internationals are going to make a strong france squad in the coming years.

^^ I think Southampton and Newcastle could surprise a few teams this year. Arsenal will definitely have trouble with Newcastles speed up top.

I am so excited for this year. All the teams look solid.

yah both chambers and mertesacker are slow as balls, debuchy isnt too quick and with gibbs potentially out for a while it's already a bad start. gibbs was our only fast wing back, monreal isnt fast at all. although id see chambers starting over monreal.

Too late for what? Regardless of Everton's position in the table at that point, he'll still have some kind of impact, either making Everton a much better team as some anticipate, or only making them a slightly better team.

Top 4 push.

He will obviously make an impact, but Everton fans should be dreaming of CL competition, because the 3rd and 4th spots are WIDE open. Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United, Everton, hell, even Southampton and Newcastle could be challenging for those places year. But without Barkley, I can't see Everton beating Arsenal, Liverpool, or Tottenham to those spots.

my fantasy prem week was saved by liverpool. thank you based sturridge

also, tough loss for stoke week one at home. the new signings played well, but every time we pushed up and crossed, diouf was the only one in the box. need a little bit more support if we want to score goals.

Please be Arsenal! It should be Arsenal, he'd be guaranteed a start but chelsea still seems more likely.

I hope he goes to Arsenal as well. Unfortunately, both teams have a logjam at CM which means he may not be guaranteed a starting position at either club.

Arsenal also needs that striker, desperately.

id think he would be a sure start at arsenal. pair him and ramsey up. id say ramsey is arsenals only "true" midfielder and adding khedeira would be amazing. he would get much more playing time at arsenal imo. chelsea dont really have a need for him and id think he would play rather infrequently

Agreed.

I will be interested to see how Flamini, Arteta, Wilshere, and Carzorla all find time when you know that Ramsey, Sanchez, Khedira (if he goes) and Ozil will have to start.
