Arsenal is cruising so far. Sanchez has looked decent but made a few poor choices in passes.

yah sanchez didnt look great but i think it will take him a game or two to adjust. plus sanogo didnt really help him with his god awful runs.

FFP is not a real thing.

Real Madrid could potentially field a starting xi worth almost €400 million. City spends a fortune every year, and others are catching up.

The only thing that's fair is that there are more clubs capable of blowing that type of money each year now.

I hate to say it but that's the progression of the sport. It's somehow managed to get even more popular, and the mega rich want in. It's the only sport where you can take a bargain nothing club, spend a load of money, and be one of the best in the world in a year.

I know, but you would think UEFA/FIFA would crack down on some of it. They did with PSG. I just found this lil diagram which shows a nice picture. I think the reason RM hasn't been hammered is because they don't have the massive losses that PSG or MCFC has because they are a "sporting club" and generate revenue in other manners. I could be wrong.

Man U is looking pretty good this year since van gaal came and they won the international cup thing but then again they are friendlies and friendlies mean nothing so i guess we'll have to wait and see

I mean they essentially only added 2 players and lost a few. So idk how they can expect to go from 7th to first with that kind of off season... Van gaal is good, but not that good....

True but he has led other teams to first place within his first year of managing them

I'm just saying temper your expectations as a man u fan. City got a lot better and so did Chelsea. Between those two alone I don't see how man u can beat them out for first. I see Chelsea and city battling for first and second arsenal crawling into 3rd or 4th and man u/Liverpool battling for the last spot. Liverpool has been looking very good too. I really like there signings but like you said its only been pre season. So unbelievably excited for Saturday!

Last season liverpool relied heavily on suarez and the majority of goals came from him so it will be interesting to see how they will fill that gap up forward. But they have some pretty promising youth players like sterling but i don't think they will be able to fill the gap that suarez left.

what do you think the top 6 will look like? also it would be interesting to have everyone make their predictions and see how accurate we are at the end of the season! i already made mine a few pages back.

Already made mine too but I think I'm gonna change it a little.

1. Chelsea

2. City

3. United

4. Arsenal

5.Liverpool

6. Everton

3. Chelsea

5. Man U

6. Everton

7 Tottenham (New manager before next season)

i mean i honestly think arsenal can and will challenge for the top spot they just need to do a whooollllee lot better against the top 4. if they had done that last year would have been a different story. it's honestly such a toss up. i just like to under predict for them so i dont get too disappointed:)

Yeah for me the 3,4,5 could go to any of Arsenal, Liverpool or Man U so it's a little iffy but I think Man U can do it with the new signings and improvements. Cuadrado may also come.

I don't know why, but I'm beginning to feel like Manchester City or Chelsea will finish fourth. I think the injury bug is going to get City(or their keepers are going to suck) or Costa flops and the midfield can't score enough goals. I think Arsenal can seriously contend for the top spot. City are still favorites in my books, especially with the addition of Mangala. Seriously can't fucking wait for the season to start, this looks to be a good one.

citys keepers are so bad its laughable. callebra was horrible against arsenal in the community shield. girouds shot was nice but i was straight down the middle right over his head. better positioning and he probably could have caught it.

To be fair, he was probably shocked Giroud shot from outside the box. I for one had no idea Giroud could kick the ball far enough to reach the goal from the 18.

hahah come on now thats just mean. i totally saw that shot coming, set up perfectly on his left foot.

I enjoyed that^.

For my predictions:

1) Chelsea

2) City

3) United

4) Arsenal (Disclaimer: Could finish anywhere from 1-5 depending on injuries)

5) Everton

6) Liverpool

funny how it's always Arsenal who always get the injury disclaimer...

I know they've had some back luck in recent seasons, but I think they're actually better equipped to deal with injuries this season than they ever have been.

1. City

2. United

3. Chelsea

T4. Liverpool

T4. Arsenal - consistency will ruin them.

6. Someone else

Spurs mid table.

I can't choose between liverpool and arsenal.

God knows what's gonna happen. We'll probably all be wrong, but this is the one of the most exciting pre-seasons I've seen in a while...

Couple games being played right now.

Real Madrid vs. Sevilla on FoxSports1

Manchester United vs. Valencia on ESPN2

Chelsea vs. Real Sociedad (no idea if televised)

RM game has quite a large sum of money on the field right now. So far they are possessing the ball a lot but lack the killer ball. This is why I hope Isco stays. He can unlock a packed defense.

rm looks pretty good but like you said are lacking that final ball. also the d was a little suspect. playing very unsafe. they could have made some easy clearances instead they did some idiotic stuff around the 18.

Yep. That may also be due to two new CMs in the midst (James and Kroos) but you are right about the defense. Still lost on me that somehow Pepe starts over Varane. Varane is going to be one the best CBs in the world in a year or two. Carvajal also is defensively suspect some games as well. Either he is fantastic (see games against Bayern) or horrible (see majority of CL final)

honestly verane is one of my favorite players. i hate pepe so muchhhh. it blows my mind he starts.

I like Varane a lot. Still very raw in certain situations, but he is not a red card threat like Ramos or Pepe.

Pepe can have his moments, but I would much rather have Varane in, especially with the threat of Chelsea looking to sign him. I swear, if that happens...

what did you think of james?

A little shell-shocked it seemed. His touch let him down a few times and he was not on the same page as Bale, Benzema, or Ronaldo when they would break. However, I was not expecting him to be a superstar in his first real game for Madrid.

That being said, if Di Maria leaves, I would not initially start him over Isco. Isco knows how Madrid plays.

Kroos was not bad either. Seems to be a little better offensively than Khedira, but defensively it is yet to be seen.

I was happy with Casillas too, especially on the crosses. A game like this does wonders for his confidence.

1. Chelsea

2. Liverpool

3. Arsenal

4. United

5. City

Top five will be very tight with a bit of a gap to be followed by:

6. Everton

Arsenal and Chelsea will be accepting applications for upper level management by the end of May. Newcastle will be doing the same before Christmas.

Stoke, South Hampton, Spurs and Palace round out the top 10.

West Brom, Burnley and Sunderland take a walk.

Newcastle have made some awesome signings tho... They'll be a suprise package potentially.... Definitely top 10, with injury luck on there side maybe even top 6 again.

Cabella is an amazing signing.

Finally the Yedlin to Tottenham rumors can end. It is all but done apparently.

Shame, he will hardly play. He would have been better off at a lower level EPL team like Sunderland, Southampton, etc.

Here is a Grantland line that sums up why:

http://grantland.com/features/deandre-yedlin-world-cup-2014-newfound-fame-transfer-to-european-club-mls-soccer/

What he may have lacked in decision-making and footwork, he made up for with punt-returner speed

As we saw with Torres, if you cannot maintain your speed you will struggle.

You wonder if he will be able to become a more skilled technical player when he will never be able to test it against some of the best competition. I cannot see him taking a first team spot. Hop

I actually think southampton will do pretty well next season and i have a feeling they will finish within the top 6

League is imaginatively called 'Newschoolers', it's code is:

1292317-303416

Once you've picked a team, go to leagues > join league > private league and copy/paste in the code.

Just a reminder to anyone who missed it in the last page.

I'm assuming he'll get loaned out to a Championship/ League One team.

They lost a lot of their talent so I don't see them finishing above 8.

He is staying at the Sounders until the 15/16 season, but no way he gets loaned that low. I just think its a stupid move by Tottenham. He is backing up Kyle Walker AND Danny Rose, both of whom are under the age of 25.

If I had been in his shoes, I would have pushed for a move to a club like Everton or Sunderland, both of whom have coaches with a proven track record for success with young players. Yes, I know Everton has Leighton Baines, but not a bad person to work behind.

yah its not a great move for him career wise, but still good for the US national team to get players experience in epl (even though he wont play) practice will definitely get him some good experience
