EDUCATION OF STYLE REVIEW

A part from Henrik's unbelievable segment, there are a lot of downfalls to the 'Education of Style.'

Phil's segment is extremely over-edited to the point where it's difficult to watch. His skiing is still impressive, but the effects employed by Eric Iberg give the illusion of tripping hard balls. It was really disappointing to see how a possibly very good segment was butchered to the point where the effects over power the skiing.

As Tanner is still making his comeback, its good to see him back in the urban scene, there's no need for shots of him grinding on chicks in Jamaica. No one cares that you live in Jamaica. Also, some of his BC skiing could do with some more turning rather than just grazing over the top of pillows again and again.

The friends segment was cool.

A part from Henrik's shit acting, his segment was SO good. Dub cork 7's and 9's as well as other tricks that seem intangible to the ordinary skier make this one of the best segments I've ever seen!

the movie was tight as fuck. most of the children here are far too young to make the whole nas-belly-one love connection in henrik's seg, but that's no surprise.

i didn't think phils seg was over edited at all, it almost conveyed a wicked-esque feel

skiing was good all around

and sure, some of the shots could've been called overdone or deemed unnecessary, but that's their shit.

overall, well done

I completely agree with OP.

skiing all across the board was dope. henrik in particular.

henriks part is dirty, no complaints.

phils part had retarded effects n shit.

tanner was aight but like you said, the random cuts to the boat/grinding scenes in between pillow lines kinda through off the flow of his part.

All I have to say about this movie is: holly fucking shit it's a masterpiece!

*and Phil's segment might be a bit tough to watch 1st time, but after a few viewings I can def say that his segment's vibe was the best of the movie. HH was dope aswell and Tanner's segment was his best in years. BUY IT NOW!!!

I love this movie besides for the fact that the desktop version still isnt fucking working for me...

I thought I'd heard it all, and then this dude comes along complaining about Tanner Hall grazing across pillows too much.

JAS CAME INTO THIS THREAD TO SAY THIS BUT NOW IM QUOTING IT BECAUSE ITS BEEN SAID, BUT THE EDUCATION OF STYLE IS THE BEST MOVIE SKIING HAS EVER SEEN IMO AND YEARS AHEAD OF ITS TIME

/thall

I thought the same thing about phils part when I first saw it but upon watching it more it might be my favorite seg of the movie.

The movie was kick ass! Not only was the skiing crazy, but also tanners dance scene was fucking hilarious! And. that wasn't a belly thing... belly 2 at best.

Given that I'm not predisposed to suck Phil and Henrik's dicks like most people here, and I could watch Tanner Hall do straight air shifties, and pillows all day. I think I can make an honest review.

Everyone does some mind blowing shit in this movie.

Phil's part was way over edited. The thing with Iberg was lame.

That truck driver wallride revert thing was my favorite shot.

Phil had some short pow shots. But all i could think when watching them is that he was trying to hard to bring his "style" in to riding pow, and it just looked forced. Along with everything else he does with the forced backseat style.

Tanner overall had a good segment. But the whole Jamaica thing was ridiculous. I don't need that, don't give a fuck about it. And I don't think anyone cares about the whole Trustafarian vibe. It takes away from the level of athlete that he really is.

Someone complained about his pillows. I think if you really watch his movements you can see the high level mogul skills that Tanner has. He's not just straightlining pillows, it's almost like he is doing a zipperline mogul run. If you can't appreciate it, it's probably because you can't ski.

Henrik's seg pretty much blew my mind. I thik he takes the same style as Phil, but he really owns it so that it all feels natural. Obviously he does some mind blowing shit.

The filming, and editing came across as really amateur. Especially after the quality of Rettallack. I feel like they should have charged less for this. People like Nimbus put out shit that is way more quality than this for nothing.

without saying anything that already been said about this film already. I was surprised by tanners seg, in that i dont think there was a single pipe shot. I know pipe isnt the most innovative part of skiing but for somebody who plans to get back into the pipe game you would expect at least a single banger pipe run or trick. Henriks "acting" part was funny. the film as a whole got me questioning whether with tanner spending so much time around b&e, is he being a positive influence on them to become more rounded skiers by getting them more into BC or are they changing the way he skis to become more like them when it comes to park and urban? im asking not to cause hate but a mere thinking point.

Probably the most spot-on review I've seen so far, with the exception that I really liked Phil's pow tricks. Very honest and accurate.

ya i agree with what most of you guys are saying. The Jamaican shit was absolutely retarted. Phils segment i feel that the effects gave it a really amateur feel, the way it was put together just didn't do his skiing justice. if its was put together a bit differently it could've been equally as good as henriks. Henriks segment was absolutely amazing. Overall I have to say i don't think it was that great of a movie. The production value and the quality is just subpar to what their skiing deserves.

i mean just link with 4bi9 and have a b&E segment in the movie or do that with level 1. Someone that can give them the filming quality and good editing that their skiing needs and deserves.

you kids are missing the point / not being educated. they are doing what THEY want on THEIR terms. they're not tryna fall in line with what you think a film should look like. they're takin og ski film vignette editing (iberg style) shit and giving it a fresh and wildstyle appearance. mix that with the hip hop influence and they are blowing all of your minds you just dont know it yet. put some head phones on, put your bias away and watch that shit again SON.

i dont understand how using all the cheesy effects you can is fresh... as i said before, i love watching them ski, that part is fresh and fun, the editing is not, its childish and amateur.

the thing that most impresses me about the B&E though is that they had and took for a while opportunities to film with top notch film groups and chose to just do their own thing with full control of their skiing. Which I can very well understand.

ANYONE THAT HATES ON THE EDITING IN B-DOGS SEGMENT NEEDS TO GET HIGH AS FUCK AND WATCH IT AGAIN .

Yeah thats understandable. 15 minute segments wouldnt be bad though. Something else i noticed was that i thought the actual video quality was kinda low, even for a dvd

Definately noticed this as well. Some of the shots in te hriends segment literally look like someone was shooting them with a cell phone camera in a shaky hand

The skiing is sick! my favourite seg is Phil´s because of his amazing precision, speed and flow. I don´t care about the editing tho.. Just fun to see some personality in a movie.

Of course HH´s part is ill to. And dope to see the ski boss back on that urban stuff.

If you watch skimovies because of the skiing alone, buy it.

McKayla is not impressed with the editing. But then again she only got silver so no one cares about her opinion

I read through this and was fully prepared to be bummed out by Phil's segment... but I thought the effects were fucking cool. Really fucking cool, actually. I didn't like the witch doctor in the woods shit in the middle of the segment, but that's about it.... SICK fucking movie & T in Jamaica was insipiring.
