East coast rail jams?

is there any mountain that is having a rail jam or something with the minimal snow that they have. would love to hit a few features before summer is in full swing. If you know of anything like this on the east coast please let me know

Mount snow and windham usually do one memorial day. Stowe used to but not sure if they still build their all snow pipe. If they do that one is fucking awesome because 2 lanes with 4 features each. It was probably the closest to riding a normal park in the post season in the northeast.

Big boulder usually does may day the second weekend in may.

There are a lot of smaller ones but not sure if any of them are happening this year with the poor season. I would assume the peace pipe at mt snow is pretty much a lock for memorial day. Also there might still be enough snow to set up some features leading up to that.

Big boulder will have there's if there's snow.

Wachusett just had one this past weekend, they were calling it their Cinco de Mayo Rail Jam. It wasn't a competition, just some fun shredding on rails that they had set up for the event.

Is it worth driving from Long Island to Mount Snow for the Peace Pipe Jam?

Yeah. But it all depends what you're looking for. Also haven't been since 2011 maybe even 2010. Might be super crowded now but I'm sure it's still fun. They usually set out some good features.

Generally around 5. One year they had their single tube urban down, whale tail box, down box, and some other stuff.

They used to leave things up as well. Sometimes the day after is a lot more fun. Especially if you don't mind a little rake and shovel work at the start.

Theres one at windham on May 23 the peace pipe at mount snow is the 28 I believe. D__h and I are attending both so pm me if you're going too

They've pretty much confirmed they're having it, just haven't announced the date yet. Guessing it'll be the 14th

Free fitty

Unless they've changed that but I doubt it. $10 bucks max and that's probably only if they're doing some sort of a donation. MS is pretty good about the freeeeeeee

Is their big long tube I always see in the event videos set out every year? I would basically be going for that thing, it's beautiful

any word on crotched's? any shop jams or anything in nh or vt?

I hiked crotched 2 weeks ago and there was definetley enough, not like last years though. They wouldve had to break down a melted landing and push it to the next snow patch to make a good area for rails. Its bad, this weekend last year was when they had it at crotch and there was 3x the snow then there was when I hiked it recently. The park crew gave up the last 2 weeks of the season so I wouldnt expect one. Peace pipe at carinthia should be dope though.

Not sure which tube and no idea. There will very likely be a tube, I would be surprised if there wasn't a decent down tube of sorts.

The park crew wants to build big features, especially jumps but apparently peak resorts and the crotched manager wont allow jumps bigger than like 35-40' I think. This year they actaully put work in. Once the temps dropped in NH they built all 3 parks in about 2 weeks which was about 30-35 features in total. Its fun but my friends and I progressed to the point where its fun for 2-3 hours. They let it go to shit really early but I think theyre getting more serious, they just need more features and a better jump builder, the park crew aside from the groomers 2/3 volunteers. Toward the end of the season it became my place to ski after school and then Carinthia all weekend. If you can next season, try going in late February when everything is built. Im gonna ski there weekdays probably, I have a feeling theyll take it seriously, especially if the winter is better here, plus they have a kinda pro skater on park crew who does better than the manager and actually builds stuff and maintains it.

IMO you don't really need jumps bigger than 40 most places. I like big jumps but most jumps 40 and under get hit way more. Unless you have a ton of resources to spare you don't really need to go bigger. Doesn't make sense for a lot of mountains.

Idk if I'll be on the east next year but I'll look for edits and picture. They used to build some pretty cool stuff there. I think the last I rode there was the video park in 09 but they had a pretty sick setup.

Well at crotched now they say the jumps are bigger than they are. They also cant make a landing at all, this year the landing for the good jump was steep for 10 feet right off the knuckle then immediately flattens out, overshot many times. The skill level now amongst the regulars definetley want bigger jumps and we all push them to do it but theyre just not allowed to I guess.

Ill be skiing Carinthia most of the season, at least 3-4 times a week if I can and Im so hyped to spend lots of my gap year in VT.

True, That annoys me when people overstate their jump size. A 30 is a 45 etc. Just keep that shit accurate. Run a tape on the bigger jumps if you need to.

Should spend your gap year out west.

My dream plan currently is to go out there for a few days to PC and ski there like 2 days then send down to SLC and stay with my other buddy and ski Alta and Brighton. Ill probably be in Colorado too in April.

big boulder just announced may day for the 21st. so hype to ride 2 weekends straight cause i'm going up for the peace pipe jam at carinthia as well
