Eagle Scout

So i don't know if any of you care much or what can be expected from this thread, but i have just received the rank of Eagle Scout. I feel so satisfied, and am overwhelmed with joy. I have not had my court of honor yet, but i have just been given the rank.
For my project I rebuilt one of the Boise Idaho Greenbelt Bicycle bridges by replacing the old planks on the bridge with 100 new 10'x10"x4" douglas fur boards. This project took two days total, and 18 participants per day. the total hours including individual participant hours was around 302 (also includes pre project and post project write-ups).
I created this forum for the purpose of seeing who else has received this rank, and what they did for their project.
*basically asking if you have your eagle scout, and what you did for your project.

congratulations man! I got mine about a year ago this month actually. felt good to be done with it.

for mine I built a bridge over a stream and cleared some trail for hikers in a state park here in NJ. fulfilling to be done with it, and have people able to use it. I even randomly came across pictures of it online that someone had taken. pretty weird to find, but funny and awesome to see its appreciated.

Oh yeah sorry about the double post:

My project was building a large horse corral up at the top of a trail. Had to de-bark about 60 trees, then notch and assemble with lag bolts. Took 12 strait fucking hours haha.

yeah man I got mine a year and a half ago, my ceremony is in march because of my damn boarding school though...

It's a great accomplishment.

i was soo close to getting mine but then sports and school took priority

i even had my project done i just had some badges to do

Thats awesome that shit looks great on resume

I got kicked out of the scouts in like 10th grade because a serious of bad chocies. all the kids in my area that were in it were pussys anyways. we went skiing one time and they all tried to board and like 3 brusied their tailbones...it was awesome to watch though

Wait.. Wait... I can do this.

I'm going to assume probably 30 as planning hours.

So 272/18= 15ish/2 = 7.5 hours per day.

Holy shit!!! Attila!

Let's assume 60 hours as planning hours

242/18= 13.4/2= 6.7 hours per day.

Not to judge or anything, but your work party would've sucked... Sweet project, building a bridge is legit, but that's a long time for volunteers!

got it freshman year.
I installed new irrigation, 2 bridges, 1 arbor, new signage, and 3 benches, and re-barking at a local animal shelter.
200ish hours 50ish people, 4 days

I don't have an eagle scout. But if I could add all my hours wasted on ns, I'd need about an eighth of them to have enough hours for an eagle scout.

Just got my eagle scout over the summer as well, congrats man, i handed in my stuff the day of my 18th birthday too haha

Christ scouts was the worst thing ever for me. My dad was an eagle scout and so was his dad. I did it to make him happy but after a while I pretty much just didnt give a shit and sat at life scout for 4 years. When I neared 18 I did my project and everything with it. I had all of the paperwork filled out and instead of turning it in I just said fuck you dad and threw it away. Scouts are no longer mentioned in my household haha. Was it worth it? Absolutely~`

I'm almost there, I just need to give them my paperwork and shit and im ready to go. My eagle project consisted of cutting a 5 acre long trail walking trail through some woods by this church. I also had to mulch the whole damn thing, which wasnt fun.

Dude congrats! I personally was never in the scouts, but one of my friends brother is an eagle. For his project he made a new bridge at this x-country ski area, the old bridge wouldnt support the groomers.

Then another one of my friends just finished his up. There is this wild center here and he built a bird blind for people to watch the birds, but not be seen.

yeah i had free pizza for volunteers both days, the first day was bitch though, becuase the first two hours we had to rework the idea for installing the boards.

i just received some letters of congrats last night, and one of them was from the Sons Of Conferderate Soldiers. i thought it was pretty Badass.

i got mine when i was 16. for my project we went to a local elementary school pulled up 8000 square feet of juniper bushes and laid sod. i got half the sod donated so it was sick. tons and tons of hours. i dont remember right now. the news paper came out and wrote a dope story about it too. i was pretty impressed with the turn out and the friends who came too.
thats funny i saw this today. i was just going to my parents house tonight to get my high school diploma, birth certificate, and eagle scout certificate for the army. im impressed with scouting too, it has def helped me out as a citizen and towards the community and nation in the last few months.

just to let you know your going to get mad respect in the working world for that. Like when you apply for some jobs people love to see your an eagles scouts same goes with college

Had my Eagle court of honor on saturday. Got mad money from people who came.
Also make sure to send out invites to people like congress men, senators, governers, presidents ect. you get alot of signed letters back that apparently will look good with college aplications.

scouts and i never got along, i got kicked out twice, but i understand the dedication and hard work it takes to reach eagle, and for that i congratulate you.

i think it is awesome when the eagle project is something like developing a disc golf course or maintaining a trail system, something that the community actually enjoys and uses, and it sounds like your project fits into that category well.

^ that dude who threw the shit away is an idiot. yeah tell you dad to fuck off, but he still should have done the eagle thing if he already had all the work. it definitely helped me get into colleges, and im sure it will help with other things in the future.

so yes i am an eagle scout. i built a butterfly garden at a nursing home.

Congrats dude. yea, had my court of honor this past spring but didn't have the court of honor until this past September, I just had so much stuff going on over the summer haha. yea, it's an awesome feeling, helps out a TON when applying for jobs and college and whatnot.

BTW: I got exactly 750 bucks from all the cards and everything people gave me at my ceremony :-D

i got my eagle about a year ago, it was definitely worth it. i built a bridge across a seasonal creek for my project. i forgot how many total hours everyone put in on actually building it, but i remember that i spent more time setting everything up and trying to get all the material donated then i spent actually building the bridge. in retrospect, scouting was super fun and i'm glad i did it. being in a good troop helps alot too. my troop pretty much just went backpacking, and we never had to wear those gay uniforms except at eagle ceremonies

yeah dude, my troop used to be really chill like yours. everyone was pretty normal and cool, had lives outside of scouts too. we never really wore uniforms unless we were absolutely required too, and we laughed at the weird kids from other troops. unfortunately the group of kids one year younger than me seem to be the last of the normal kids. its been weirdly lately hahaha.

dang yo i wish i kept with it.. i only passed tiger scout then quit.. barely remember anything.. i remember some cool wooden car race tho..

dude FUCK YEAH!! the car races and airplane races in tiger scouts were so awesome. that's all i got to though and i quit so i don't remember much. i know it takes a lot of time and effort to be an eagle scout though so congrats.

congrats dude, me and my brother are both eagle scouts, its definitely helped me get into college and a job or two

nice work scout!!

it has been 12 years since I got mine, it was a pretty damn good feeling...

grab vigil and manacino (if FC is active in your area).

go for the triple crown

congrats man and nice job.

but...... from my experience, eagle scouts tend to be the biggest partiers i know.

yeah i got suspended for twisting this kids arm. but he told everyone i broke it with malicious intent, but no one believed him, because the next day he was out using an ax.

Congrats on getting your eagle

I got mine like 13 years ago along with my palms and I'll tell you that scouting was probably one of the best things I did in my young life. Alothough, we could do what you did for your project for our Eagles. That was more like a Star rank project. We had to do projects on a bigger scale. Like for mine I had to repopulate a species of helpfull birds that were native to our area and monitor them for a period of about 6 months

BUMP got mine in september i rebuilt a shed that was rotting to the ground. it was fun as shit to destroy. my boy skollsteeze is going for his board of review tonight.

That's great man. I got my Eagle rank about 3 and a half years ago. I almost quit after getting Life, but I figured I was too close not to finish it.

i remember being a cub scout
CubScoutLogo.jpg

Pinewood derby, regatta, chariot races. good times haha. my troop was full of strange fat kids though haha. i didnt last very long
