EA skiing game

calm your tits tommyhe's not hating on me he's just asking for me to mention his name because he made almost all of it and coming up with that shit takes a while which i totally accept and can see why he said that

If this all wen't down i would be so pumped. i would buy whate ever game device just to play this game. but make it a inexpensive one.=)

you should loan your friend a couple of ski movies to like turbo and journal so his dad can see some footy to go along with the description since some of the stuff won't make since to him. Also i don't know if it has already been said, I haven't read every post. But, one joystick should control the trick like in skate, so popping up and then diagonal down is like a rodeo or something, and the left joystick controls the rotation or something. Sorry if none of this came out well, im in the middle of finals for school and a lil low on sleep, il lay it all out when i get out

so whats happening with this? there havnt been many updates...if he dosnt see the market as being big enough make sure to tell him that they could combine with snowboarding and get the biggest snow sports market ever

i highly doubt the dude's dad actually has any real say in whether or not a game is made or not... he may just be able to suggest ideas. so this whole thread isnt really going anywhere when it comes to making this game happen... and i highly doubt many of these ideas will make it into the game...

but we can dream...

Yea...very unlikely that this will ever see the light of day, but it was fun to kick around some ideas.

yah that is very true and its exactly what I think is happening with this but what hasnt been realised by video game designers is that adding a skiing mode to a snowboarding game would almost double the market with relitively litlle work. its frustrating that no one picked up on it yet

just give it the skate engine, have a few resorts with really good jib lines. The more realistic the better. Also, "styles", especially if they use motion capturing this would be the best. Just have a few pro riders come and "go through the motions". If I could ski with the style of Wallish, Hall, Nyman, or Olsson at my choice that would be epic. Oh, and the more realistic the better, did I already say that? Make sure to tell them that twice too. No need for obsurd point systems and people flying around way to big off jumps.

they probly havent realized because the designers and coders are mostly just a bunch of nerds who post vids like the Dumont QP record and say:'' i didnt even know skiers could move like that.'' They probably also think that snowboarding is still underground.

you should have to learn how to do switchups and spinning out and finally have to do all 8 with tom

have an amp meter so if you are in a good grove you can have the extra oomph to go for a double or something. it should be fairly difficult to do a double and have a point where the skier gets scared and freaks out to make it realistic and you can save yourself from the bail. if the skier has a good song on his headphones then he will be in "the zone" and have perfect composure

I think a "confidence" meter is a great idea. Essentially, as you link tricks, land perfectly, and mix up tricks, your rider's confidence would increase, and tricks that you wouldn't normally try/land, come more naturally. Basically, flow and rhythm should be rewarded.
I think this could tie into my idea about hitting the same jump multiple times. As you dial in the speed, pop, and timing of a particular jump, your rider's bag of tricks increases. Basically, trying a sw dub rodeo 10 on hit number 3 = death. Ehh....I dunno....not sure about the specifics of this example or the execution really...but, generally acknowledging smooth and creative lines, and alternatively, absolutely owning a jump (for a photo shoot).

Ski base. and make it so you can put rails off cliffs to ski base off. although this would only be E for earth, instead of bridge antenna span earth (BASE)

i am imaging the game in my head with like shaun white graphics and skate engine and its sooo sick PLEASE MAKE IT. and can the creator kinda give an update of whats going on?

Make it a snowboard game too. That will make it so that it will sell a few copies, just make it that you can choose when you make your character at the beginning.

^^

Ok sorry that was my friend but what I was gonna say was that what if newschoolers teamed up with a video game company like EA or something else and gave them everything in this thread so they would know what all of us want

also market it as sort of a hedge fund oppurtunity, with the ski industry being a business on its way to being big, and if they get into it now, they can really capitalize on it, and corner the market. Because the copy-cat versions of games never sell as well as the originator. It is all about capital to them, so if you propose in such a manner we will have a better chance of seeing this as a reality

What about other systems? Don't count out the PS3 and Wii. A game like this aleady has iffy marketability(no offense but there are few winter sport games that have won over the general public), but system exclusion would make it worse. I'm financially inept as it is, so I don't want to have to spend money on a new system because of a game's exlusivity.

I guess my rant is kinda redundant as these ideas have yet to be executed. It would be nice but unless that by some miracle our ideas(mostly casual's ideas, which were well thought out +karma),which were given to the thread creator's friend's dad, were acted upon and put into development to become the the game we've all dreamped up, there hangs a huge cloud of doubt over this thread and everything people have said is wishful thinking.

Still...

KEEP US UPDATED! I'm as stoked as anyone here to know where this will go.

they don't care what we want...Like really at all, they care what will sell games, so they may take some things that we want, but the probably would have done those things anyways, and trash the rest. And it probably won't happen...

yeah well why wouldnt they care what we want cuz there are about 125,000 people on newschoolers. If a ton of people bought the game right when it came out then told everyone how dope it is then they would have already over 100,000 copies sold which is actually alot because shaun white which is trash and was highly advertised sold about 100,000 copies

Ever think that a lot of those people just joined ns and never came on again? Not everyone on this website comes on a lot and checks threads. Dont make me write a page on expressing my feelings.

this.

its ignorant to think that a skiing game like the one proposed in this thread will ever be made. perhaps in a few years theyll make a skiing/snowboarding game like SKATE, but its highly unlikely. the winter sports genre is so far behind skateboarding in marketability that the game would probably fail when it comes to making a profit.

NS does not represent the general public... the demand for a realistic skiing/snowboarding game just isnt there.

how about if you find a secret 'stoner' spot on the mountain sum dude could hook you up with weed and boost up that ''confidence'' meter, for optimal realism.

its not like just people from NS will buy the game, hell I know alot of us bought games like skate, because it was a sick game

yeah and why wouldnt everyone on ns buy this skiing game if its somehwat like skate but with obviously skiing

everyone on NS would buy the game... but thats not 125,000 people... the amount of people who actually frequent NS is probably a tiny fraction of that number.

also, you dont seem to realize that skateboarding is much more popular and more marketable in the public eye than skiing or snowboarding.

Yeah. Everyone loves the skateboard culture, even the people who don't do it at all...
And just think of all the alias' on this site. Scott~ had something like 7, not including the ones not named Scott~1,2,3... I'd say there is a good chunk of NS's frequent users that have alias'. Even in the first 100 members I think I remember Vinnie D having 3 or 4 user names...
It would be interesting to see how many people are frequently on NS.

I'm not doubting that. But someone isn't gonna buy one game per alias either... I could see it as marketable, but even close to the degree that skate is. That's all. And to make a legit ski and snowboard game would be really tough to develop. Every movement for snowboards would need to be accurate, and skiing is completely different, so it would be like developing 2 different games play-wise. They'd be able to use the mountains and gear, but the gameplay/physics would be different.

SKATE and amped 2 mixed, and have a create a park mode, with a fuckin snowcat and shit!!! and none of this shaun white ssx bullshit

all the controls would be somewhat the same in skate like steering yourself, gestures, and pushing yourself and whatnot. you could go to different mountains and win competitions and stuff then you can go into town and sesh handrails and other cool spots. you could even do grabs the same way you do in skate and tweak them anyway you wanted
