Dumont

I love how people hate on people who do doubles and say they have no style, and they hate of people who don't do doubles because they aren't innovative or on top of the game enough.
 
Actually, after some reconsidering, I think he´s earned it pretty decent. Okay, so he´s not top 5 outside the pipe, but take for example Jon. He has nothing but his jumpgame, but still, nobody can say he doesn´t deserve his spot.

All i know is that Dumont has been in the top tier of the sport for YEARS. Other skiers have come and gone while he remains near the top in several disciplines. Dumont's bag of tricks is still huge. I just don't see why everyone has to hate on him, why not talk about how all the other skiers you think are sick but haven't made a huge name yet? Why not try to get the word out about them? If you think Simon is mediocre why even talk about him, just say nothing.

As far as him being a sell-out, I get kinda annoyed at hearing that. He's one of the only pro skiers who is really making a solid living out of doing what he loves. I'm sure if you asked most of the smaller named skiers who you think are way better than Dumont if they would trade places with him they would be more than happy to. I think a lot of the hate comes from Xgames big air, but seriously what do you want the guy to do?? He can't do what the other guys were doing!! He knows this, he knows they should beat him, so he throws something fun that looks cool. Don't hate on him because ESPN is fucking retarded.

Dumont isn't even in my top 15 favorite skiers, but I got mad respect for that guy. He knows his flaws and he tries to make up for it in other ways. All those years when tanner was spinning both ways in the pipe and Simon was only spinning left he made up for it by going fucking HUGE. I can't believe the longest post in my NS history was wasted defending Simon, but there it is.

DUDE WTF there are so many people who kills it and dont have comp results there is only 1person who can win a comp , it doesnt mean that the other are not good simon had a pdium at x games dew tour and others last season if its not good then i dont know when you can say your good

compared to skier nowadays he doesnt suck AND he does a lot of new things in a different ways then almost everyone now .... example : a loot of people do dubsss , dubss and dubss but simon pushes the pipe side of things he does his thing

Who cares if he can't do doubles? I thought doubles weren't cool anyway. His cork 3 is so sick that he could just do that in every shot as far as I'm concerned.
This really just boils down to Dumont didn't do so well at X games and is taking a little while to get doubles down, lets throw him out of the sport. Its just silly. As long as people still want to see him ski he's not going anywhere.
 
ya and according to that NZ edit he said he's gonna finally nut up and get on the double wagon. Might take him a bit longer to get it down but i bet they are steezy as shit when he gets it locked

And instead of making these stupid threads you will learn that we all just want to have fun skiing. I mean really what have you kids turned into.Who cares if Simon just did some crazy trick, or someone else just did a better trick. it's not you doing that trick, and thats why your not a pro skier because your on here making stupid threads. haha i wish had but whoever did is a genius...back in the day i used to like dumont and the fact that he's from bethel until high five when he was introduced as 'the dumont', from then on he has proven himself to be the LVP of skiing
 
i hate haters. when tanner was on top, everyone hated on him, now people are hatin on dumont and in a few years, people are gonna be hain on wallish its just fuckin stupid. If you can't show up dumont you shouldn't be hatin
 
I take it many have seen Forward where he is some little kid playing around with a basketball, i wish he had that shithead mentality now. It would be pretty funny. Wait, it may have been Strike Three.
 
Well lets look at it this way, i take ur point but he did manage to ski the entire second half of the season injured(shoulder, knee & heel) and still kill it.

I think those results show against others he has still got it, he might not won as many events as the year before but he is still up there.
 
Yeah if anyone watched the Alli sports show thing on MTV he talks about trying to get doubles down in that, and he tries one but eats shit hard. He says his bandana flew up in front of his face when he took off and he went totally blind, which is a pretty lame excuse, but if you watch it it is such a catastrophic failure right from the start that that probably did happen. I thought it was funny that he continued to wear the bandana for the rest of the day regardless.
 
^first, if you ever skied at high elevation when its sunny without a bandana you probably wouldnt have made that post. less then an hour on hood withou being covered and you face will literally look likea burn victum.
2nd..some skiers push new tricks..simon pushes the sport.. i dont know but im pretty stoke that the kids gettin our sport exposed to the "gaper communitiy" cuz that fact gets us new sponsors and more money to have better doper comps that let the trick progressers show how dope skiing is to the greater population.just saying... you cant have dope underground pros with out the "super pros"
side note.... i think these "super pros" should pump out more edits.. i think thats one reason why peeps hate on them cuz they dont give the inside comunity dope edits anymore.. we only ever see the comp shots never the dope skiing like the slumdog editl, with by the way was fucking sick. i dont know why it wasnt top rated
 
yeah even though dumont doesn't double (besides his fronts) he still is the icon of the sport. all those years battling it out with tanner in the pipe. going bigger than anyone i've seen today go in the pipe. he has amplitude in the pipes. (quarter and half) yeah he doesn't really have a rail game. best thing is that he even admits that rails aren't his forte. but its not like he sucks at them. still probably top 70% of the pro skiers on rails. as for his park skills. i still have not seen very many people who can throw any kinda of cork three, regular three better than him, he's so smooth and sets them perfectly. than there are his misty's. more style than 95% of the "top" skiers. you don't have to double to be a Great sicker. everyone has there OWN style. Simons, is more for the love of the sport than doing the next BIg thing.

Have you ever seen him ski other than on ESPN? The guy is at Keystone and Breck all the time right next to other pros (some that you listed), and he is doing way more than keeping up with others. I rode the lift with him today, and I still dislike his personality. But honestly, the guy is a beast on jumps and pipe. The stuff he was doing on rails this week was pretty impressive as well.

By the way, has anyone else seen the new Oakley he's wearing right now? It looks really sick.
 
i was there and have some videos of him throwing dub corks.

they looked pretty smooth. he stomped some in training.

ive spoken to him, he is such a nice guy.

Dumont still kills. When is the last time you took your 900 tail 35 feet out? The youngins just don't get it....
 
Since when has it been cool to hate on Sammy and Jon? I have never been a fan of Tanner of Sammy. Even when everyone was getting all googoo eyes over Tanner, I did not see anything special. Nothing against him, he is a great skier, but he has just never been one of my favorites. Now for Sammy it is a different story. I don't know if he is really like this in real life, but he has a real cocky ass attitude in every edit I have seen him in. Never have liked him. I see nothing wrong with Jon, just as I have nothing against Dumont. He is the best all around skier. Everyone stop bitching because you don't like him. Face it, it is true.
 
in Dumont's defense he is one of the pioneers of freestyle skiing. yes his tricks are getting kind of stale (dub front, cork 3), but without him pipe and slopestyle would be nowhere near where it is now. i agree with one of the other posts that said people always hate on people on the top and thats prob why dumont always gets this. but in support of pete the OP he does need to nut up and get some doubles that don't include fronts to progress the sport further
