Dumbest thing a shop guy has ever said to you....

the new spk's have a flex of 95, and there are definately softer boots on the market. but the way the guy your quoting posted it could go easier. from what the shop guy said, the spk is the softest boot they carry, which could be true

I'm surprised you didn't check the ski bag before going to ski camp....that is robbery though by them if they gave you re-drilled junior skis and still charged the same amount.

word. places like sports authority and other major retailers that carry snowboards and snowboarding equipment ruin snowboarding. all they care about is the profit, and usually dont know anything about the product.

I think this thread just made me realize that a lot of people on this site are stupid. Some of these are good stories, but a lot of them are just dumb.

I'm glad my shop isn't as lame as a lot of these. when I brought in my Bluehouses to get mounted they were stoked on the quality and the skis because they hadn't seen them before. they could've just said oh, those suck just because I didn't buy them from the shop.

not a shop, but the following is a direct quote from SKI magazine's review of the 08 prophets.

"True, Line got its start as a manufacturer of shorty skis for park punks before broadening its range to include twin-tips..." wait what?

The review is one of 13 in their section called "XXL skis- the deepest snow demands the widest skis." The widest skis in there are the volkl katanas at 111.

O and i took my invaders in to get mounted and the guy was like so ummmmmm what ski is this.

but the invaders are hard to tell and at least he new they were made by line. and he got the center mount right so i was happy. not a good story but w.e

dude SKI magazine is the GAYEST ski mag out there, just ignore their stuff anyway and stick to stuff like freeskier.

to my friend but i was right next to him. he is 5'10, 160b

my friend: so what size ski should i ride

dumb ass: well i would say for your heigh and weight about 150-160

friend: i will that be to small?

dumb ass: no 150-160 will be perfect cause u can jump father and spin faster because ur skis will weigh less.

me: um no it will be harder to land with a short ski and u will have way less control on them if they are center mounted and u have like bairly any length on them

so basically i stoped my friend from making a terrible decision on his skis from a retarted gaper and my friend ended up getting his foils in 174 and then when he picked up his skis after getting them mounted the dumb fuck didnt even mount them true center.

yeah, especially how most of the kids claim to "walk away" after they got their bindings mounted wrong. nobody would actually do that

ahh wtf im so retarded i left out the part where he handed me a pair of solly mynx's or watever the chick boot is...he knew what he was talking about when it came to the spk, too bad he didnt know which boot it was

i apologize for making myself look like an idiot

well it was the night before we left or something. my stuff was already packed. but yes I sure learned my lesson!

Ski Barn NJ, some alright people at the one I go to.

I don't ski park all the time, I hit up the park a few times a day, or when I feel like it. maybe %20 but that will probably go up some more this season. I really need people to hang out with in the park, none of my friends are really into just lapping it so I normally we end up in the woods, steeps, or moguls. which I loooove too but I don't get much park time. you?

sweet, yeah I think we talked about this in another thread. I go there too sometimes. there's nothing I need at the moment but I'll probably go sometime this season.

a few of the guys at ski barn remember me going there before and stuff so that's why I end up going back there a lot. theres a few of them though, they may not all have a good staff.

I've never had problems with any shops. Dick's sporting goods tried to tell me a bunch of stupid shit about the SPK Kreation's a few weeks ago but I pretty much just walked away. The shop I go to is pretty legit. I asked for a true center mount, and the guy actually called me at work just to double check before he drilled that i wanted true center, I said I did and he drilled 'em to perfection.

I was pleased.

not something anyone said, but this is the second time the shop mounting my skis has been late. the first time they were like 3 days late. I was supposed to pick up my skis mounted today, and guess what, they aren't mounted, they told me at least 2 more days. /rant off

now time for some redemption...

the shop i normaly go to is awesome i took my vaders there to get bindings and boots i tell him center mount and he says 3 days tops. i come back the next day like i always do after school and he is done!!!!!

the skis are drilled perfectly and he gave me HALF OFF EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!

because i come in alot.

thats right they kick ass

yeah my home mountain sucks so im in the park like 90% of the time. i was thinking of getting them mounted at the store at my local hill cause they did it right with my other pair of skis. i was thinking of getting them mounted true center but im not really sure where that is in relation to the marking lines. do u no??

he's right. line started out making blades before they switched to real skis. so you were the one who got pwned, not the shop guy.

Yeah, I love to read the "Christy's was stupid and didn't know what I do so I bitchslapped them and left" stories.

at sports den in SLC the shop guy had some real great advice about my friends hellbents. for starters, I guess they are actually called "Pontoons" and they are NOT going to work in the park, not that that matters since he guaranteed us that Park City doesn't have any parks up right now anyway. Oh and if you were wondering, center mounted hellbents also wont work in powder at all because they wont float.

that was a funny trip. I don't mind when people dont know stuff, but this guy was cocky and obnoxious about it.

oh and the same night this guy at wendys poked his head out the pick up window while we were waiting for our food and said "BOO!" that was a weird night.

hahah i actually laughed out loud at the randomness of that statement. god damn wendy's employees. great fast food tho.

I took my skis in today to get remounted and the shop guy was telling me my skis were center mounted and they weren't. I guess he might of meant they were core center or wahteever you call it. Another shop guy corrected him and told him to mount them center for full park. I hope they don't screw it up.

tryin to get my t halls mounted....

me: excuse me can you mount these bindins onto my skis?

dude: i think i can one second

me: ohhhh! also make sure u mount these true centre. like exactly in the middle.

dude: yea sure (calls over dude #2)..... hey can you mount these in the exact centre of this ski?

dude #2: its not possible, there are no holes!

me: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

phone conversation with a sportchek employee (sourcing spk kaos boots)

me: would i be able to order some salomon ski boots through you guys?

him: you want to order a hockey stick??????

me: no, skiboots (and a mental sigh...ughhhhhh)

him: ok

me: do you guys carry the salomon spk's?

puts me on hold for about 5 minutes

him: are they a women's boot?

me: no

on hold for about another 5 minutes

him: what size are you looking for

me: 26.5

him: size 6?????

me: no, 26.5.... you know, in the twenties

him: ohhhhhh....... what colour do you want them in?

me: *hangs up*

hahah right when he said are they a womans boot u should have just given up... props for sticking in there that long.

how can shops hire ppl that think ski boots are measured in a size 6.

Re-read my response, re-read what i quoted, and then re-read the topic.

It was a response to a comparison between cap and sidewall, the shop guy saying sidewall was better and that the buyer should look at sidewall skis.

I wasn't talking about other factors to consider in a ski purchase; I was talking about "the dumbest thing a shop guy has ever said" and i don't think it was that dumb.

Sidewall is better. Cap is cheaper.

The guy wanted to sell more expensive skis.

So why don't YOU shut the fuck up.
