Dumbest thing a shop guy has ever said to you....

No that's not generally the reccomended size for someone so light. Mind blowing innit? Someone NOT skiing the biggest size ski available?!

i enjoy reading about how so many teens know more then people that work in shops, make me laugh. if you guys know so much more than the guys working in shops why arent all of you working in shops

"i don't know what these ec headwear people think there doing making these really really tall hats"- guy at shop

stupid question. Kids like us spend a lot of time on newschoolers...and other places reasearching, reading and looking at skis. Some even making them. And there is quite a few people that do work at shops. but a question for yours...If you could get every body jobs at ski shops....WHERE WOULD WE GO? there is simply too many of us, and the guys that are trained in everything but no nothing get the job, its just life.

"if you were actually hitting thoes jumps then i would have heard your name from the x-games"

cause marker used to make one of the best bindings out there. better then any salomons or looks, but in the past years there quality has diminished and there bindings have gone from the top binding, to the very bottom. so people that have no kept up to the times, still assume that markers are the best out there.

Worst shop guy I dealt with was at the mountian's repair shop after I broke one of my brakes on my Madens in the park. He examined them for 10 minutes, consulted another dude, then proceeded to try and jam a regular sized Marker brake onto them. I walked over and took the ski away from him.

Crap, and the ski was mounted with a rossi axial 2. Important part, but you can probably guess that I dont ski on Markers anyways.

By the way, what pro's DO ski on Markers? (before the Jester and Duke obviously)

i always assumed most volkl sponsors ski'd marker bindings cuz thats what they got fo free and k2 have systems with marker alot so i figured k2 sponsors got markers also but that was just an assumption i dont really care what the pro's ride so much

a snowboarding shop near 7 springs i forget the name but they sell skis also..

we walk in..look around and ask the girl at the counter...

do you have any twin tip skis?

she says hold on let me go look..she walks around the store..comes back and says hold on i will check in the back..

five minutes later she walks out with ski blades

im guessing its Route 31

they fucked up my mounting, i told them true center, and i got them and they were like 5cm back, i was pissed

this was bout 3 summers back i think, i'd just moved to holland, new pollards arrived in the post, was stoked, had planned top go to the indoor halls for a sesh with some kids id just met here, so went down to the local shop. spoke with guybout where to mount, everything. seemed like a good guy.

picked em up a few days later, and he'd done a sweet job, put th ebinding on just where i asked,

untill i noticed, he'd put one binding on the wrong way round!!!!

haha, he was so aplogetic, and said he got confused coz he'd never seen twins before, haha.

so he ordered me a new pair all the way from the uk. the shop i order from was stoked though.

and he still has those drilled pollards last time i went past.

i was like to the guy: do you have any rockered skis?

he was like: no, what are they?

i told him and hes like: what a bad idea, who would do that?!

im like k2, armada etc..

hes like: no they don't, i would know, i work at a ski shop

i just left

I try not to talk to the guys in my shops around me. All my shops suck and they don't know what their doing.

Are you talking about the MRR turntable bindings? They were well regarded in the 80s and early 90s, but when Salomon came out with the Driver 997 I would argue they took the lead as the best binding. Look also had the orig turntable design during the MRR era. Marker just started sucking in the mid 90's, I remember a few friends in racing in that time had them and would always be flying out of their bindings on GS courses (we were 12-14 so they were using plastic 12DIN not MRR). Once they switched to Salomon metal/plastic 6-14's, problem = gone.

ok heres one i went to axis freeride in draper ut to buy some way 150 dollar spk boots they called that morning to say they were in so i get there and the guy goes to the back and he sold them to one of my really good friends so i asked if they had any more and he says yeah so he goes to the back and brings out a bunch of random boots and kept pressuring me to buy them and then and i asked him why he sold my spk boots and he said the other kid had had a coupon

haha, I have to go in for a remount...and it is a little sketchy. but they are pretty legit, I had some libertys brought in and they thought they were pretty cool, but then I had to use my warranty for a delam problem with the letters on the bottom and they remounted for no charge...but I got new boots...and my bindings don't adjust small enough.

idk if this was stupid or not but a shop guy refused to wax my skis because he said i would just take the wax off again the next day. i think he was just ready to get off work

Yeah, but it is kind of rediculous. I just come in all relaxed wanting to look at some skis and they are hoping down my back and I leave feeling like shit or stressed...haha they have anthems for 580, place sucks.
