I wish we could all take a step back and think about where all this music came from. Ill be the first to admit that i get excited about a new rusko or skrillex track just as much as the other guy but it seems to be loosing touch with it roots really fast. Its called DUBstep for a reason. Its true roots are dub music which is a predecessor to reggae as we know it today.....Imagine if you dropped "scary monsters and nice spirits" on Lee Scratch Perry and told him that his music would one day inspire this madness.
 
If you read you would see that I clearly said that I am a fan. Just pointing out that fact that it is crazy how fast it ran away from its roots
 
You realize that that is just one small group of artists, there is still sooooo many people making "dub"step.
 
Classic example of shitty as dubstep music, its a bunch of fucking random annoying noises.
 
um, actually Reggae was a predecessor to dub, and dubstep has as much roots in UK garage and 2step as it does in DUB. You are on the right track, but get learned fool!
 
I take it you "drop" drugs often. Not all of us need to take drugs to enjoy something.
 
you dont know very much about the genre it seems

dubstep is an off shoot of uk garage, also knows as 2 step. Listen to an early dubstep track and it will sound more like garage then anything. From there, it takes heavy dub, techno, hiphop, electro, ect influences.

I know I've posted a lot in this thread, but when do you think Dubstep came around? Its older than some kids on this site...

Dubstep is pretty sick in my opinion, its not all about dropping MDMA in order to listen to it, but when you do drop MDMA and listen to it live, it is a true experience in itself.

It's worth a try.
 
I am a huge fan of live music and that includes Dubstep. Am I able to go to Dubstep show every other night, no only because the shit kinda gets old, but I still love it........................

I will say that molly (mdma) and Dubstep go hand n hand, not saying that I do any drogzz seeing that they are bad for you and you will loose your girlfriend ( but make many new friends ;) )................

Dubstep is not music, it is sound. I can listen and enjoy dubstep from time to time in the right setting but what the fuck are you tools putting this garbage on your ipods and walking around with it for. The people who make this shit are not talented musicians, they are talented computer users. Your generation is going to be the one that lets guitar music die and that is fucking sad, shame on you all.

 
i think it actually has its roots in the UK garage and jungle scene from like back in the 90's. the DUB in dubstep comes from the beat. The dub refers to the kind of shuffle that is in the beat where the snare or drum hit is a little early and creates a kind of shuffle or rushed feeling. Listen to the beat at the beginning of Custard Chucker by Rusko if my explanation sucks because that has a really good shuffle or dub (in the sense of dubstep) beat. At least thats a characteristic what "true" dubstep is, appearently, as its been explained to me.

P.S.Noisia pretty much helped Skrillex with his whole scary monsters and nice sprites EP. Listen to his stuff pre-SM&NS, the difference is clear.
I would imagine what happened was Noisia made that "growing" synth and Skrillex is just abusing the fuck out of it and using it on every tune.
 
its meant to be danced to while extremely fucked up. if you dont like dancing while extremely fucked up then you will not like dubstep. it's as simple as that.
and as far as the musicians comment, i agree completely. i can't believe these people get paid 80K an hour to stand on stage and spin a DJ set...bands like Furthur or String Cheese Incident are much more enjoyable to see live and they deserve every penny they make.
 
Its too bad that nobody cares what anybody on NS thinks.

Dubstep is sick, and the unfortunate truth for all the haters is that successful DJs and producers are living out their fucking dreams, and are on top of the world of music.

Making thousands of people dance and have one of the greatest times of their lives is a perfect example of the power of MUSIC. Nobody wants to hear you try to demean it, if you don't like it then keep your opinion to yourself and do something productive with your time.
 
i dont hate dubstep. i hate that everyones getting into it now and its been around for what, a decade or two?

yeah i'm pretty fired up as well, but i'm honestly not TOO worried about it because i dont think the opinions of a close minded individual such as yourself really matter too much. it takes a lot of musical talent to create dubstep or any electronic music, you have no idea, so why in gods name would you say that?
 
this, i fucking cannot stand the shitty mechanical sounding dubstep that seems to be gaining popularity in the states. if it sounds like robots should be having an epic battle then i dont fucking want to hear it
