Drill here. Drill now. Pay Less.

You are so far off it's amusing. You don't know me, I don't know you. Let's just stay away from personal lives.

To the kid that posted something from Wikipedia...

C'mon, dude. It's Wikipedia.

wow. i put off reading this thread for so long because even i, who will admit to being insufficiently educated on the topic, could tell that it was going to be a filled with somebody's rediculous opinions and could possibly make me less intelligent for reading them.

i just wanted to say to the kid hating on asian allen, not cool! keep it up and you'll have the whole midwest skiing community in your face, except for this skiminnesota kid who can't seems to be very concerned about food costs. grow a fucking garden!

good job holding down the sensible side of the argument, drew, ryno, and others.

finally... somebody that actually knows what is going on. its so good to hear some fresh air coming into this thread. good post.

for the rest of you, we are not saying that we need to run off oil forever and that alternative fuels and energy is bad. Almost everybody i talk (who is worthy of talking to, mind you) wants to develop alternative energy and we both know that the switch is coming but its going to take time for 1) to get off of oil and fossil fuels and 2) to switch over to new energy sources. we have not even started this "transition" period, we are more or less in the R&D stage (well mabey the research stage not so much the development stage yet.

the whole point im trying to make is that if we dont try to control costs now we wont have an economy left in the future to run off new energies.

thats why this guys post is right on if you ask me. what did you people expect to happen buy buying oil from the mid east? that oil prices would always stay lower? its not just oil too, its all the other industries that we have outsourced to the rest of the world. now we make nothing in this country and now we have to ay the price to get it back here.

sad if you ask me.

what happens if i say i live in the inner city, in a apartment, with no grass, and i ride the bus to work...

where the hell am i supposed to fit a "fucking garden" ?

also, dont know if you happened to notice, but it gets cold here, from say October to April, have a fun time growing food then... (ok i should probably stop being a smart ass now :)

reality is, gas prices affect everything, and the price of food has gone up, and will continue to go up..

i am not on this site to make enemy's and i hope you who disagree with me on some issues will do me the respect of respecting my view point, and acknowledge the fact that i dont "hate" on anyone... i keep it respectful for the most part...

Same thing here, Justin. I live in an old orange grove which is pure sand now. Our water table is really low now too since St. Pete is now flushing their toilets with my drinking water. The pH in my soil is really bad too. It's pretty much impossible to grow anything. The only thing that is good for us is that we have about 20 chickens so we get about 6 eggs a day. Not everyone can grow a garden.

... you dont see a problem where our government gives these guys millions in tax breaks and stimulus packages, our gas prices rising despite these cutbacks, and then they post record profits? I'm sure theres some bureaucratic bullshit someones just itching to jump in and spray all over the place to make this seem okay to everyone, but heres what I see:

flash_video_placeholder.png

Once again, the big five oil companies have approximately a four percent profit margin. Rowen, even if we took ALL their profit, four percent cheaper gas isn't very much.

wait wait wait...

this coming from the same person who referred to Obama as just another one of those Husseins.

Right. How that mature adult thing working out for you? O...did you shit yourself again while attempting to have a real debate with intelligent people? Sounds good. I will go get you a new diaper.

Please for the love of ALL that is holy....stop talking for the sake of humanity.

Millions is nothing compared to the trillions we are in debt. Yet Congress just keeps packing more digits onto that trillion number.

Now you are putting words in my mouth. I never said he was "another" Hussein. I said that he grew up around Islam so in the end you tend to lean in that direction.

Sorry, but I have never name-called in here. I also have never even attempted to insult someone.

I think your Socialist side needs move to small island in the Pacific to start your own little big-government.

You exact quote....

"McCain sadly has my vote because I don't want a waffling socialist and

an unexperienced senator with the name "Hussein" running the country I

live in."

From this thread - https://newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthread/thread_id/366331/

So yeah, not "another" Hussein, but equally as bad. You actually used his name as a justification for him not being president.

You have never attempted to insult someone? Hell even your response above to Drew can be considered an insult.

What Drew said about your responses consisting of you just holding your fingers in your ears to whole time is dead on. You never actually participate in real debates. You sort of just...make noises. That above quote and thread are exactly what I am talking about. You said you don't like Obama's policy, and we ask you what about his policies you don't like, and you hardly respond with anything even slightly coherent.

And I am all for this Pacific Coast splitting off. Let's see how the entire fucking south and midwest do once they lose the GDP of California. =)

That was not a subject change. I was comparing. Oil companies still pay WAY more taxes than you.

Please, Drew, get over yourself. You all think that this whole oil thing can be fixed with alternative fuels tomorrow. You all need a reality check.

i tried to stay clear of this thread but i just want to say one thing...

aspen, you are making yourself look like a retard. you're basically getting your ass rammed by people who are much better debaters than yourself. sorry, but just give up i hate seeing this thread still around. it's pointless and pretty much a "who wants to make aspen look stupid today" thread.

I never said he was related to Saddam Hussein. I was referring to the fact that he has Islam running through his blood. I have plenty of other reasons for him to not be president.

Oh, please. Get over yourselves. All you guys do it talk about yourselves. You don't talk about the rest of the country that has different levels of society.

No one has ever asked me about his policies. I don't even want to talk about his policies since he changes them every other day. BTW, this is a thread on oil.

China owns all the ports on the Pacific Coast. Thanks to precious Carter we don't own the Panama Canal. Again, we rely too much on foreign, how should I call it? SHIT. America needs to grab their balls again and become their own country like the day after the Revolutionary War.

Shawn, you have obviously never heard a conservative since all you liberals just get louder, and louder, and louder, and louder, and louder until all you hear is squeaking like a wheel that is in desperate need of WD40. When you all get louder, the conservatives get more quiet because we are tired of hearing the same old song at really high pitches.

Wait.....

Ok, Please head shawn's advice and stop. Please.

Did you really...really...really just post?!

I am going to make it big and bold just so we are clear.

I was referring to the fact that he has Islam running through his blood.

There is seriously nothing more to say. You have consistently proved that you are one of the most ignorant voices on this forum. It is painful obvious how set in your ways you are, and just how sad those ways are.

I wish you the best. I wish us all the best. But with mentalities like yours, this world is a very very scary place.

Your government can tax them more, but they already give so much to this country you can't believe. It's extremely evil that they are keeping it to themselves, but what can you do? Just say, "Fuck it! Just stop buying oil from them right now, and don't drill because then we will be dependent on oil for the rest of our lives." You can't do that.

I haven't changed the subejct. We are talking about oil.

Meh, its still $0.02 cents off my gallon. It adds up, and I'm sure it would help our economy to have that 11 billion back amongst the American people rather than a handful of shareholders. And besides that, its the one issue I see surrounding this issue that hopefully everyone can agree is just plain atrocious.

From the thread I listed above, after you said the following:

Aspendukes:

"The biggest issues with me are his views on abortion, guns, etc. And

the fact that he doesn't have any experience. Two years in the Senate

hardly makes you credible.
"

To which I later replied:

Iggyskier:

"If you want to go and elaborate on why he is in your opinion a bad

candidate based upon his views on abortion, guns, etc, then by all

means do so and actually have something to say.
Instead you come off

as just another ignorant American who sees a name that reminds them of

a Muslim terrorist (even though the person in question is a well known

Christian Senator....not quite a terrorist) and then spouts of some

pointless shit about how his views are bad when the real issue is you

just can't deal with the fact that he is black and has a Muslim

sounding name.

If that ain't the case, let us know. Instead of just saying fuck it

and telling us this is pointless, how about you tell us why we should

be worried about Obama becoming the president
. It is your country too,

remember, and if it is going down the shittier, maybe we should figure

out how the fuck to stop that before it is too late.....That would

involve discussing the issues that affect all of us, none of which have

anything to do with the person's name.

He could be named Real Men Suck Cock for all I fucking care. If he/she

is smart, capable, and honest (three traits completely absent in the

past eight years) then he would still have my vote if I thought he

would improve this country by becoming president.

"

Just one example of people asking you WHY you don't like him BECAUSE OF THE MOTHERFUCKING ISSUES.

Tell us already. Or is that too much to ask??

I don't know how you don't see this as any kind of problem. Though is views are night and day every other day...that's what scares me the most.

This is actually skiminnesota replying:

thank you. at least someone other than myself sees that the oil company's are not making off like robber barons..

sure they might have a huge number next to there name, but when look at the total amount of business that they do... NOW that is a huge number, also look at the amount they pay in taxes..

not trying to call a bluff or anything but i would love to see the source, so i could use it for future reference, because if my memory serves me correctly i thought the number was more around 6% profit, really not that big of a number...

"The impression that Barack Obama is Muslim crosses party lines with 10%

of registered voters
overall, including 14% of Republicans, 10% of

Democrats and 8% of independents, telling I recent Pew poll that they

think the Illinois senator is Muslim, compared with 53% who correctly

identify him as Christian and about a third who say they don't know

what his religious beliefs are. Fully 79% of the public say they have

rumors that the Democratic presidential candidate is Muslim."
http://pewresearch.org/databank/dailynumber/?NumberID=509

I'ma gonna go and probably say shes in that 14% right there.

At this point, fuck the whole muslim thing and fuck the oil thing.

Aspendukes...tell us WHY you don't like his issues? What policies does he have that you disagree with and how is McCain better?

11 Billion Dollars Net for one company for one year is kinda a large number, at least to me. I really cannot believe that a person can reflect on this and think its "fair". Exxon gave their CEO a parting gift of nearly $400 million. That works out to be like $144,000 for every single day he worked at Exxon. You see that, the government subsidies and the still rising price of gas in this country and go "huh, well they did all they could..."

skiminnesota says:

ok, so if Obama, and yourself are for taking away oil company's profits, and if that only helps you out by .002 cents.. why the fuck would Obama, be against a national gas holiday, when that would save the average american 18 cents a gallon, and roughly 30$ over the course of the summer.. second wouldnt it be much easier to take a gas tax off the books for the summer, rather than try and steal money the oil company's worked for? seems to me that you (and obama) just hate the fact that Oil company's make money, well i have news for you, EVERY BUISINESS is out there to make money...

Aspen says: Whoa, buddy! HAHA!

It ceases to be their fair profits when they get cutbacks from our government in order to try and keep gas prices down. Thats money I pay to the government in taxes that goes into the pockets of this companies CEO and shareholders. It seems wholly wrong for America to be suffering from the high prices of fuel and have these guys rolling in cash at the same time.

And fuck if I care about how much it saves me personally. What the fuck happened to holding corporations accountable for raping their customers and hurting our economy?

last thing i will say here, both of my parents are very conservative as well as all of my other relatives and parents friends. just stop, you're taking up useful thread space.

I agree, but businesses have been doing shit like that for years. Believe me, I know. We just had a 24-month feud going on with the IRS that just got dropped because our accounted forgot to turn in a stupid piece of paper. Our government just keeps spending money that we don't have.

I'm posting for Justin because he has even shittier internet than I have. It's the nice thing to do. He really wants to respond but can't so I am fueling his excitement by posting for him.

I call truce. I'm done talking about oil, Obama, etc. It's not worth it anymore. It could just end up hurting me in the end, and it already kind of has (I don't need to go into detail about it though.). Thanks for the debate, but I'm done. I would rather this thread die, but you all can keep going if you want. I cease-fire.

Guys...seriously...let it go. It's abundantly clear that aspendukes is essentially spamming. She's advertising right wing propaganda...her posts are utterly and completely devoid of anything even approaching an original thought. Even if/when she posts something that is valid, or that contains a grain of legitimacy, it's just the cliff notes of someone else's grandstanding. Alternatively, she literally cuts and pastes, or links, to someone else's ideas.

She's proven time and again that she's incapable of critical thinking, or atleast of articulating those thoughts or arguments that she may have. So, she's either an idiot, or struggles with linguistics. In the end it amounts to the same - a one sided debate.

She's been generous with the intimate details of her personal life here. Recap: Her father owns a small business, she loves the confederate flag, she drives a pick up, she has enough money to live between FL and CO, and I'm pretty sure she's posted about guns. Ofcourse she believes what she does...she is a poster child for the GOP.

Drew, Rowen, Iggy...you've all responded thoughtfully, intelligently, and passionately. Thank you. It's time to stop responding to a child. Would you punch an 8 year old back if he punched you? Even if that 8 yr old doesn't know he/she's 8...you can't hit em back.

Aspen....please....stop. Everyone is entitled to their views and beliefs. Liberal, Conservative...I'd like to think we all cherish that tenet. That being said...your point(s) have been made. It's clear that you enjoy the attention and controversy created by your posts, as evidenced by your eagerness to reply to every post vaguely aimed in your direction. You're intentionally being incendiary and bullish. It's fucking obnoxious.

Now......this eight year old you mentioned....how big we talking about? Because today's kids are pretty big, and you know in the heat of the moment a man could be confused....

and aspen - cease fire on. You are entitled to your opinion. I would just rather hear the reasons you hold that opinion.

This is going to Rowen, and to whomever it might have annoyed, I meant

no problems, my internet here is sucking ass, and I can read NSG, but I

cannot post, and I saw aspen online, and asked her if she would post a

few things for me… so whoever is pissed at her, don’t be, I asked, and

she did a nice thing by posting for me…

Back on topic, now rowen, you claim to have no problems with gas not

going down 18 cents. Well why would you even bring up that “it all ads

up” when talking about .02 cents… not following your logic here.

As far as the 400 million goes, sure it is a big number, but though

shit, you buy their product, and they can do what they want with the

money (I know that some cases this is not the case, nor should it be, )

Oil company’s are in the business for the same reason to make money as

your local grocery store, TO MAKE MONEY… and by imposing a law, saying,

we don’t like you, so we are going to take your money, would devastate

this economy..

Now, put yourself in the shoes of some power player, you are faced

with two options, make/ sell, a product here in the US(while creating

good jobs) … or option number 2, say hell to america, they are anti

free market, anti business, and I don’t need them and their debt ridden

economy, I am moving to India, or somewhere the government isn’t going

to be holding my feet to the fire because I made to much money..

I have more for later, but since I have to ask aspen to post this for

me, I am stopping now…. But you can bet your ass I will be back when I

get to some good internet…

I completely agree. Corporations certainly need to be held responsible.

But the public also needs to understand the consequences of its

actions. The biggest reason that the people in top management positions

at oil companies are still rolling in money with such a ridiculously

low profit margin (other than the fact that the top management people

in any huge industry are rolling in money) is because the demand for

oil is so high right now. It's not absolutely a bad thing that the US

has cut off it's supply of domestic oil, but it has had its obvious

repercussions. It's not entirely the oil companies' fault that they are

making money right now.

We can punish the oil companies with

higher taxes, but it's not going to make them sell us more oil. However, it might

make them sell our oil to China. Then our economy will be in really

really bad trouble.

And I disagree that several guys making hundreds of millions of dollars a year unfairly is worse for America than the loss of billions of dollars that would come with less oil being sold in America.

It would be wonderful if all businesses and governments always made ethical decisions. It would be wonderful if life was fair. But to act purely on principle of fairness without taking human nature into account is foolish.

o, and rowen, i agree 100% government does not need to be in the business of propping up most industry's...

but i dont see how the oil company's are 100% to blame for this, they dont always set the price, correct? go after the oil barons of the middle east, but all we can do on that front is beg for more cheap oil, with no real authoraty, dont shit yourself, what do you think the saudis would say if you anounced that you were going to take some sort of legal action against them.... rules dont matter to them..

so why not partaly give the saudis the finger and say "stuff it bitches" we are getting our own oil...

(note) the saudis in my post is reffering to oil producing countries that we basicaly have to bend over and kiss the feet of....

get the oil we have(and we have a ton) but at the same time build new types of energy,

dont BS me and say, "but it will be 20 years before we get any oil" good, great, grand. do you honestly think we wont need oil in 20 years? WRONG we WILL need oil in 20 years, hopfully not as much, but we will still need it... whats that about conservatives never planning for the future?

Please stop trying to force words into my mouth. Never have I said anything is 100% anyones fault. I just brought up the rediculous profits as a local control that we could enact right now without ANWR or more shitty foreign policy moves. And yes, it does add up, and since I havent had the time nor the patience to roll through 10 pages of bickering, I'm going to have to ask for a repeat of this "18 cents" deal you're harping on.

Never have I said that we wont need oil in 20 years.

Never have I said anything about Saudi or outside government.

Please stop forcing my posts into the bank you keep with all the "crazy liberals". It shows you actually read what I have to say rather than jumping to typical assumptions, and you look like less of an ass.

I see your point, but I have to disagree. We fucking should punish these oil companies to show that our government still can wield a good domestic stick once and a while. These companies have taken our governments money and tax cuts and still fucked it up. I'm sick of bullshit stimulus packages and big breaks for businesses, I've seen 0 fucking change to our economy or gas at the pump, which thankfully I rarely buy. Has our government really become that pussy that we're afraid to punish companies that disobey our government and shit on the people?

Sure, human nature is to become as successful as possible. But these guys have earned more than most Americans can dream of ever having, and frankly, seem to have hurt a lot of other Americans by keeping these profits. I'm not promoting socialism or communism, I just want some accountability once and a while. And to the whole international market fact, Exxon Mobil and a host of other oil conglomerates are practically ruled and interwoven with American bureaucrats and lawmakers, I doubt very much that our congress would stand idle while these companies started doling out more to other markets and leave the US dry.

Also, just for the benefit of all, I'm not saying in these arguments whatsoever that the oil companies are enemy of gas prices #1. I'm just pointing out that they are a piece of the problem here.

Thank the lord its over. Now lets change this to the commemorative gas guzzling thread. Check this video of a woodie destroying:
