DONT SUPPORT GRENADE GLOVES!!! read inside

Damn man that's raw. At least he's getting some attention. Wonder if anything has been sorted out over the years.

A lot of stuff in the snow industry is pretty small when compared to other things. Its no surprise when someone is a legal noob and tries to get away with it.

Shits pretty weak, fuck the CEOs, however I must say Chris should have watermarked and sent a low res before giving the photo to the rider..................... hope he wins all of Grenade's money

damn. Snow sports is a business that revolves around athletes, videographers, and photographers. Just not right to play it fair and help each other out

its funny how 2 1/2 years later people post like goofs again.

do you REALLY think a company the size of grenade thinks it can just take a picture from a rider and post it? how many images do they use in ALL of their marketing, print and digital combined? 500? 5,000? they knew their responsibilities and just said "Fuck it." it was never the riders responsibility to tell them any more than the photographers name if they asked. the photo came from a week long shoot at revelstoke, grenade clearly knew it was going on and probably paid for a bit of the trip. they should have been expecting the rider to bring them images. they should have had money put aside to pay for multiple photos in advance.

honestly, as much as grenade management came across like total dicks. that photog was a huge idiot as well. the pictures were clearly posted in good faith, and were handed to them with no indication of the source. All they did was post a picture up on a blog, with no intention of profiting , and to be honest it was not a particularly good picture at all. Hounding them for hundreds of dollars and threatening to sue them is simply preposterous.

It would be totally different if grenade had the picture published in a magazine or catalog, but a fucking blog? and telling them hes gonna take them to court over this? Considering the absolutely rampant copyright infringement on the interent, this guy needs to take a step back and work on actually trying to sell photos and market himself. I get that he deserves acknowledgement, but he acted way out of line.

you're so incredibly stupid. "with no intention of profiting" it's called marketing dude, and however large or small their blog audience is, they posted it for the sole purpose of profiting! Do you think they post pictures because they're fans of photography? Regardless, it's a copyrighted image, "good faith" doesn't nullify infringement. If it was an honest mistake they could have stated the misunderstanding, and then paid him! Copyright infringement is serious business and he would be totally and completely justified in suing them, the amount doesn't matter.

this entire issue stems from the lack of maturity amongst the grenade employees and owners.

i have seen similar immaturity from other small skiing brands; however, this simply makes me appreciate the solid backbone that some of the younger ski companies like Saga have formed even more. i get stoked when i see a new skiing company that handles things well, because i know there are other companies out there that lack the ability to do so.

what a shameful example of the most useless part of society as we know it. you know its really pathetic when the emails from photographer to company CEO are more professional, and much more well rounded in terms of grammar, spelling, and language than the emails from CEO to photographer.

im sorry but from your statements it is painfully obvious that you are not and know nothing about being a photographer. i understand that you are entitled to an opinion but you should be aware that when you aren't informed, your opinions make you sound like an idiot.

wow. what an asshole. I really hope the photographer gets his money..

Then again, both can learn a lesson. When youre selling your pictures, make sure to put something on your picts when sending them out. If theres a big logo or name in the middle, people will have to contact you to get it off and there for, will avoid all this crap.

Fuck grenade.

Shitty... I will never support that company. I expect ski and snowboard companies to be a lot more laid back then that.

I hope the photographer got that $$$$

That is just bad business. You'd think that Grenade could afford to pay whatever amount, which I'm sure wasn't too much to the guy for using his picture.

Grenade sucks. I have a grenade laniard that i attach my car keys to. Im getting a new laniard! Suck it!

though it is a little suspect that buddy just sends pics out, unmarked, unmentioned, and then once they get used he's all "dude pay me now. that's mine"

that's pretty much what those street vendors do over in europe. they jam a brochure or magazine into your hands and once you hold it they refuse to take it back and pester you for payment.

that said, though, you gotta know what you're using. can't just pick something up assuming it's a freebee, especially when we're talking professional level. some bells had to be ringing for somebody..

Yeah, that might be true, but you have to think of the relationship between the photog and the snowboarder. they were good friends, and I'm sure that was the reasoning behind it. I admit, I'm no professional, but I give my friends my shots of them all the time, and I know a handful of professionals that do the same with their pics. But when all of a sudden someone else is actually making a profit (no matter how indirectly) at your expense, of course you'd want payment.

I can not believe that a CEO cannot even spell check or obtain the right software or hire someone to do so... Who DUE they think they are?? Then the other guy... JC, doesn't even know how to either... "I told you ten time"... SMH. How do these people have such a higher salary than I do. Someone needs to put me on payroll to proofread/edit/fix their issues with the English language.
