My views go like this (I'm an Atheist so all you christians just stop reading now and start hating).

lets start with a recent poll, this poll asked many christians "if irrefutable evidence disproving god was presented to you tomorrow, would it change your religion?" a surprising(to me anyway) number of people, near 70%, said no, they would continue to believe.

This raises an interesting question, if god didnt exist, why would religion exist? why would so many people throughout history lie? I believe that God does not physically exist, neither do heaven or hell, or the garden of Eden, What we call God, What we call religion, is just a way to cope with the harsh nature of life. Some people would not be able to survive in this cruel world if they didnt believe that there was a chance of salvation, or that everything had already been planned.

Religious people need religion just as much as us Athiests need science. In a way Science is just a religion based of fact instead of belief, I know that I am just as firm in my belief of science as many of my religious friends are in their belief in God. If everyone faced the truth and realized that there werent really answers in the bible, or in The Origin of Species, we could stop fighting about this, and start finding comfort in our fellow humans and be satisfied in the knowledge that no one will ever have all of the answers.
 
You people are all fighting a battle that can not be won. You will never be able to convert someones beliefs over a skiing website. Anyone has had made multiple posts in this thread has wasted their life.

So after reading these posts, I must say, I am tired. It's more reading than I've ever done, and the ad on top of this site with the black baby with bright blue eyes is starting to freak me out, and i like guys, and from reading all this I can't really make sense of anything.

You guys all lose. Don't you people watch Stephen Hawkings' TV shows?! If so, you should all know that it is plausible to have a superior being controlling the world as we know it. Many of us have played The Sims or a game similar to it, correct? Well Mr. Hawkings believes some day we may have the technology to recreate a world full of artificial life on a computer. This life will think and feel just like we do. It will be the ultimate life simulation. We could all play God to a computer simulated universe. Who knows, maybe we are just in some highly sophisticated computer... I just hope the fat ass, who is my god, sitting at his desk feels like being good to me.

Oh and time travel is on it's way too... get ready bitches... I'll come back to this day just so that I can look and see how right I was.

I am neither atheist nor super religious but if you look through the bible and know religious stories, you know that god and jesus and such are all just made up stories to ease the mind, religion is simply something that is passed down from generations, If your family was fairly religious then you most likely will be and if not then you are the OP...

"global concrete jungle"?don't see that happening EVER. Look at a map that has all urban areas shaded in and all non-urban areas unshaded. And make sure the map is Cylindrical Projection. You will find wayyy more unshaded. Sure, you've got north india and east china that are LOADED, but much of that is shanty town, not "concrete jungle". You sir, are living in fantasyland.

Now, overpopulation and depletion of resources will definitely become an issue. We will always have animals because of domestication, we're not hunters anymore (news flash). What it will come down to, is everyone in the world that looks like the individual pictured below will be burned for electricity. Fat burns REAL good, and its one less useless mouth to waste resources on. There is usually a connection between obesity and low IQ.

The people who wrote the bible took their damn time, and some liberties with what actually happened. See The Great Flood and Methuselah, what happened after Jesus' death(and the lack of any correlating evidence outside the bible) and the fact before the church got to it, there were over 33 gospels, including the Gospel of Judas.

I dont feel that it would matter if god existed or not, that would be pretty sweet if he did, but I can't know if he does or doesn't. Thats why its called faith, there is no "proof" of god, to try to say there is proof is ridiculous and annoying. In the end, I dont even think it matters if you believe in god or not, what I think matters is that you are a good person.

For me, just because someone is baptized doesn't make them any better than a person who isn't, its just about what you do with the life you are living right now, not about the consequences that might come.
 
The long lost and true meaning of the word god is consciousness, that is to say being one with the present moment. Great things happen when we are one with god (consciousness) and all of us have directly experienced this. When you are skiing and there are no thoughts of the past or future on your mind, only the trick or line you are doing, This is god.

Even a religious view of god is a poor substitute for god twisted by thousands of years of unconciousness, in your mind change the word god to consciousness when reading posts. All these bad events mentioned above are not because of god, but rather a lack of it. Be conscious for every second of every day and you will be amazed in the power of god (consciousness).

This is just my opinion and I am not involved in any organized religion at all and never will be. Skiing is my religion :D

Separating these concepts from the reality of mainstream religion and how it's been used to control people throughout history is very important. There is plenty of ignorance being spread through churches, that's why we gotta be soldiers. The path to love and hope is inside your own being.
 
It's a matter of faith. That is the whole point of religion. Seeing is not believing. If God were to "go on Oprah" yeah people would all convert, but that isn't the point. The point is to believe in him no matter what.

Now I'm not religious at all, but that's my 2 cents.
