I don't want to sound completely irrational and call Obama or any leader for that matter a devout socialist, but here are some quotes from Nikita Khrushschev I found in my MSS book which I think are definitely words that should guide and warn any world leader. It just shows how a radical point of view can be dangerous, and any actions on a high level of influence should be taken cautiously. I don't think our country is capable of raising actions to this level, but we should remind ourselves what can happen if we don't check and balance one another.
"Do you think when two representatives holding diametrically opposing views get together and shake hands, the contradictions between our systems will simply melt away? What kind of a daydream is that?"
"I once said, "We will bury you," and I got into trouble with it. Of course we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you."
"Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even where there is no river."
"The press is our chief ideological weapon."
I believe he also had one about introduce small amounts of socialism until the government was finally communist, because he did not believe the people would allow communism. Not sure where that one is though, but these are interesting.
