Do people really hate no poles this much.

today i was skiing in the fog and rain at sunday river, no poles, as usual, not bothering anyone, just trying to make the best out of a day. in the course of the day, i get 3 seperate, and completely random groups/individuals, either yelling, get some poles, or a variation of that. one came from some racers, and the other 2 were just from random people i only heard.

my question is, do people really hate the way i ski that much? do people really have to take time out of their day to tell me what to do? i'm not saying that it made me angry to hear these people talk shit, but just really made me wonder if some people's heads are so full of shit and hot air they have to personally attack me. and i'm not asking you people of NS whether no poles is whack, i'm just saying, next time you decide to spread some hate, check yourself.

happy holidays.

I see it all the time. I personally use poles and generally dont like how no poles looks, unless you are real legit and can pull it off. But I'd never yell omething, let people ski how they want to ski. Thats pretty gay of whoever it was

I didn't use no poles for a few days in the park, it was fun. Jumps felt weird tho. My buddies from home saw and edit and were like "uh no poles?" and im like "why the hell not?" they seemed kinda weirded out by it.

i dont go no poles that often, but when people say shit when i am, it infuriates me more then anything in the entire world.

if i was bigger i would probably follow them and beat the shit out of them.

I tried it for a few hours yesterday, it was actually really fun not having to put both poles in one hand for hand drags and shit, and it just felt a bit different. I guess it would be making me better with poles because its a bit difference balance-wise, so you could call it a training technique if you wanted to. 5-finger grabs were fun too.

^haha, now that i think back on it, i wasn't infuriated but i was definately feeling some angry/shocked feelings going on.

and i ski with poles about half the time.

ya i know hey. its just kind of in the back of your head for the whole day, or maybe just a few runs.

like a couple weeks ago i was on the ski out, and i hate when people carve back and forth so i was just going straight. and a snowboarder, probably mid to high 20's, comes and hits my arm with his shoulder and says "fucking fag".

it really pissed me off.

herb on the east coast is the devil, im not sayin thats why ppl have sandy vaginas and bust ur balls like that, but it would at least calm their shit down

i couldnt give half a shit about what other people think about my style. my jackets too big but i've bought it, and i dont wanna spend more money just to look good. i'd rather work on my skiing.

whatever works for you is what you should stick with

i broke my thumb so i was not wearing poles for a few days, and the freestyle coach said "wow those are long snowblades."  i felt like a sad homo.

Hey mang whatever floats your boat, I like no poles most of the time, and that's just me!

Oh, and a comeback to ricers, is they're ricers...so ha!

man fuck em...if they really care that much about whether you have poles or not they probably suck anyways...

i think you need to get over this. i guarantee you've heckled someone from the lift or otherwise. so now you're being heckled, who the fuck cares.

I've been skiing no poles a lot the last few weeks, and people mostly just seem curious about why I'm not using poles. It reminds me of back when there were only a few people with twin tip skis on the mountain and everybody wanted to know what they were for.

I like no poles, I think it's really fun...that and it gives me an excuse to suck cause I can say I'm getting used to skiing without poles.

Seriously though, I don't think I've ever had anyone heckle me about it, if they did I'd just blow them off, I stopped caring about what the popular general crowd thought of me when I started talked about Jesus in public (apparently if you do it in any way other than cursing it makes you a religious freak, who knew?)...just rip your way man, it's all good.

yea unfortunately there are plenty of people out there who will/like to do that. i know a guy who skis better without poles than almost anyone i've ever seen ski with poles. and i mean like big mountain and steep riding, not just park. people have a right to disagree with other peoples style if they don't like it, but it they should keep it to themselves or just ask you straight up, "hey man why do you like skiing without poles?" the hate and stupidity is just not necessary.

No poles should only be used by someone that is good. It looks ugly and shitty if you rock it and suck dick.

maybe you suck dick?

I don't like how it looks, I always ski with poles...unless you're the best in the park, you're not gonna pull it off...it looks gay

hahahahaha this made me laugh thanx!!!

... i ride no poles idc wut ppl say haha and i love it

and im also rly sick of this subject i think we all get the idea

thank you

slightly off topic, but this reminded me of just yesterday. i was crusing down a green run switch (going pretty slow- i was teaching a snowboarder to ski), and i ski past this old gaper lady, and she makes it a point to yell, and i mean yell, loudly, "you're going the wrong way!" yeah. thanks for the tip, lady

yea it happens all the time. just look at my video i put up. i think 6 out of the 19 comments were saying "get some poles fucker"

I once heard someone say that skiing without poles is like getting a blowjob from a dude. It feels good, then you look down and realize you're gay...

if you trip about every time a racer says "get some poles" you are fucked my friend. let that shit go in one ear and out the other. would pep trip? probably not. so you probably shouldnt either.

merry christmas niggas im goin skiing

no poles is alot like skiing in tight pants. you need to have a really smooth and flawless style to pull it off well. Some people can do it, many can not. I personally think no poles skiing looks pretty lame on film besides some individuals. People shouldnt care so much to hate on it, but honestly most people who do it have there arms going everywhere or they try to copy the hands in the pockets steeze. If you ski with no poles and you try to keep your hands down most people just end up looking like pencils. Poles just seem to give everything a balance. thats just my opinion. That doesnt mean i dont like doing it sometimes. its great for learning grabs n stuff.

does it matter the whole piont of skiing is to have fun no where does it say that skiing with or with out poles is wrong or right

yup no where so ha

I didn't use poles one time at Okemo last year when I gave them to a boarder friend to use for a run. Some kids who looked like they would post on NS were yelling something at me. hahaha, show yourself bitches!

you think this year is bad?  i was rocking no poles last season and the season before that, things like that happened ten times a day everyday... if anything people just dont care as anymore, trust me, its getting better for us no polers

The other day at The Canyons got like atleast 3 feet of fresh pow. On the first run I broke my pole on a tree. So I skied the rest of the day without poles instead of leaving. It was seriously the most fun I've had all year. It gave me a whole didn't of view or riding pow. It was weird to get use to but it was so much fun. A lot of people on the lift were saying how cool they thought that riding pow without poles is. There was atleast 2 or 3 people so I say drop their poles off at the lodge and right the rest of the day without poles. Maybe it's just where you ride but then again a lot of people are old fashion and think poles are the only way to go.

i don't think anyone hates no poles. I personally think it makes kids look goofy. it reminds me of snowbladers. but if it makes things easier i guess thats cool. I would rather put in a little more effort to master using poles than dropping them completely; thats a short-term solution. People do it to make themselfs look more stylish but i'd argue that poles add a great deal of style to tricks.

i tried no poles for the first time this past weekend at springs. it was def hard getting used to, but i had alot more fun without them. it felt kinda wierd on jumps, but learning grabs was much much easier. im neutral, if you have a smooth style and can pull it off, good for you.

hey man do what you want, i have no problem with it. and i dont know why anyone would yell that, its not hurting them. personally i use poles, have since i was like 5 and just cant get used to not using them but hey, i dont really care if people would prefer not to use them, it dosent bother me at all

What do you care if people hate your skiing for not sporting poles, I'm geussing maybe because you know its just "a stupid fad". Because I don't know any other reason why it would bother you so much that you would come and cry on NS about how some people's comments which aren't even decent insults ("hey why dont you get some poles"...like come on I can't beleive that hurt your feelings that bad), if you yourself weren't entirerly conserned about how the over all piblic veiws your apperance. If you were out rocking no poles because you actually love doing it, you wouldn't care what 3 people said you from the chair. When I started skiing, I would be lucky if 3 people told me skiing was gay that day and thats all that happend. I had boarders huckin shit at me and started scraps. I had one guy one time smoke me in the eye with and ice ball at point blank range right after I just bailed on this jump and I was trying to get up and my eye was swollen shut till later that night.

So basically what I'm trying to say is, straight up your a pussy for whinning about that shit, and that your also just a poser. You just want people to think your cool because you do something a different way, but geuss what, not every one likes it. Like really I had to fight to ski and if I cared about how I look doing it I would be on a snowboard right now. I seriously wish that you coulda started skiing when you would get your ass kicked for going into a terrain park, then you would see what Im talking bout. Sorry to pick on you but I'm tired of people bitching "Stop hating on no poles". Like fuck get over it already people are going to think its "gay" no matter how much you want them to think your cool for doing it. Personally I don't like the way no poles look I think it looks out of preportion and I think it makes it easier to grab. BUT I will respect a guy rocking no poles because he actually likes it better and isn't conserned about how he looks because he doesn't have poles. Fuck the guy could be the shittiest rider on the planet and I would respect him for it.

So please all no polers stop making threads about how a few people made fun of you because, your are the people that are making the guys who actually love droping their poles look bad.

Your a little bitch whos whining to get attention. He specifically said he wasn't angry about it at all. It was a fine thread to make. We don't care if a guy smoked your ass, he did it for a reason because your a bith. So stop hating and go cry to your mom.

Anyways I was rocking no poles today, and it was kind of easier to jib and spin with. I don't see why people have a problem with it.

i think that the majority of the kids who ski without poles look like shit

in general i hate no poles almost as much as i hate all these threads

ahh i ski with poles and used to hate no polers, but then my friend tried it and said it was omazing and i started to look at it differently and now while i still ski with poles, i dont hate no polers anymore. its just a way of proggresion that moves some people more then having poles. im goin to try it when i get a little better cause if you suck at it you tend to look like gaper, but if you good then it looks dope

you fucking suck at spelling. seriously. theres no way those are all typos.

if you are old enough to remember getting beat up for going into terrain parks on skis, you should at least be able to spell. that's embarrassing. you deserve to smoked in the eye with an ice ball. maybe next time you eat shit off a jump, a mean snowboarder will smoke you in the eye with a fucking pocket dictionary or maybe a set of hooked on phonics flashcards.

yeah I've seen you guys around without em...yesterday when it was hella rainy some buddies and I dropped poles and it was pretty fun, especially since grabbing the poles would have been miserable.

I wouldn't do it 24/7 though.
