DIN setting

I just got my bindings mounted at a shop and they set my DIN at 8 which seemed a little high considering my other skis are at 6.

I'm 6' 3 about 200 bsl of 319.

Does 8 seem high?

for 200 pounds 8 seems low. i weighed 140 last season and they set at like 7 and i kept popping out so i cranked them up to 9. hyper extended my knee at one point but didnt pop out.

7.5 or 8 would be fine unless youre super duper extreme. I wouldnt go past 10. Remember, you want your skis to come off when they should. Check your forward pressure often and your knees and hips will thank you.

It really depends on how aggresive and what you are skiing. If you are just doing park, 8 is prolly good because you really don't want to fuck up your knees. If you are skiing super agressive lines where you really don't want your skis to come off you may want to push it up near 10, but not higher than that.

I'd say if you're unsure, lower them. If you get a pre release, you can put the din higher, rather than having your din to high and injuring your knees, and then lowering them.

based on the posts im guessing din how tight the binding squeezes your boot toe to heel in lamest terms. like if you fall your skis arent going to pop off your boots. the higher the din they harder they are to pop off?.. well if thats the case.... then how do you tell what your din is it? the guage ontop of bindings lol? i dont pay much attention to shit. i tell the people at the shop to mount them and thats about it

hey man id keep them at eight if i were you im about 190 pounds and i got my 14 din bindings back from the shop and htey were set at 7 and i thought i didnt buy 14 din bindings for them to be set at 7 i took them to my garage and tightened them to 11... 2 weeks later i had a torn acl because my ski didnt come off when it should of and im out for a year trust me take the few extra blowouts before u blow out ur knee

dude dont listen to a thread on where to set your dins. just ride with them at what the shop gave you or lower if youre nervous and if youre pre-releasing than turn them up a little until you find the spot where they stay on when they need to and come off when they should. might take a day or two, but just carry a little screw driver on you and it shouldnt take more than 20 minutes away from your day. dont trust the internet because you could seriously fuck your knees if you go too high. and could fuck something else if youre riding too low.

im 160 an mine are at 14, i do have head/tyrolia mojo bindings with the twister heel peice so it saves my knees, if ur super aggresive in the park then ur gonna want them much higher than u have, keep it lower and then crank it up lil by lil as u feel nessasary, like if u keep popping crank it up 1, if it still is 1 more, when u stop popping out when u shouldnt be then leave it there. depending on ur binding u may have a twister heel so ur foot can twist out to save the knee, also check forward pressure

imo i would put u at 12. i ride my park skis at 10 and race skis at 18. o and i weigh 145

I would say the shop set the din just right for your height and weight, but if you have problems popping out of them too easily raise them a little and vice versa. Maybe since you'll be skiing park i would raise them just a little, but it all depends on how aggresive and big you go.

my shop tried to sell me marker bindings (not dukes or griffons the shitty ones) for my park ski. Ive never trusted them again.

I do, a lot more. Chain stores don't give a crap about what bindings you buy/where they're DIN is set to, it's all about the money they make. That's only for a few places, but a shop like Axis I trust most likely more then NS.
