Did you know that of all developed countries, the US is #1 in:

prison population, teen pregnancies, drug use, child hunger, poverty, illiteracy, obesity, diabetes, use of antidepressants, income disparity, violence, firearms death, military spending, hazardous waste production, recorded rapes, and poor school performance?
USA! all the way!

if he doesnt like it... he can:

i'd love to. move to canada and get me some quality health care for the price of on the house. walk city streets not covered in trash and homeless people. and hang out with people who are generally friendlier. unfortunately it's not as simple as wandering across the border and asking for citizenship.

The US is #1 in every aspect got it? Our country was founded on sex, drugs, and rock n roll. If you got a problem with it move north with the fuckin Canadians, we don't want your kind in our awesome country. AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!

I hate when people say stuff like "x country/state/town/company is #1 in ________" and don't back it up with numbers or how the rank was calculated. I'm not saying whatyou said isn't true; but what defines a developed country? Is that rank based on raw numbers or on percentages per citizen or what? How were the polls taken? Etc.

Sorry, /rant

I know for a fact that the US isnt #1 in illiteracy, obesity. We are one of the most literate countries in the world, and australia is #1 in obesity.

i was going to say something, but then i thought back to my kindergarten days

if you cant say something nice, dont say anything at all suddenly rang through my head

but most of that stuff doesnt interfere with your day to day life, i live in canada and i dont notice anything besides health care and the lack of guns, there are also lots of homeless people, the states and canada are relatively similar compared to europe, where everything is 10x better

basically north america sucks if you wanna get into details, and if i didnt live in vancouver i would leave and go live in france

I like it here. Think I'm gonna stay and continue supporting this great country.

oh p.s Government health care isnt free, you pay for it through additional taxes. 1000 pages.... GO!

i don't have the exact rates for each one and i'm not going to take the time to look them all up. if you don't believe me, go check "blessed unrest" by paul hawken out of your local library. it's a book that will change the way you look at the world. and no, america isn't the only country with problems, but it's humbling to know that even though we think we own the fucking world, we can't even solve our own damn problems.

and i would like to respectfully retract the literacy claim. i don't know where hawken got his numbers, but that doesn't seem to be right.

Id say that we also have the largest amount of different ethnic groups in our country which is reason for it being so "developed." Not to mention but we also have millions of people coming into our country illegally

Really all that shows is that we keep better records then other countries.

As for the military spending thing. FUCK YEA. I like spending your money.

Alaska shouldn't count. Too great of a place to be associated with that shit. I know I'm not going to stay in the US, either to Canada or a Nordic Country like norway

in sheer number or percentages?
number means nothing. We have far more people than impoverished countries in Africa. And our military spending can be attributed to the number 1 or close to it military in the world.

i take back my above post, didn't realize it was "developed" countries.
but to the post i quoted, those stats are from 2002, I wonder if anything has changed? its been 8 years

You should try a day living in the happy country of Zimbabwe. That place makes even your worst 'hood's in the USA seem like an agreeable holiday destination.

haha i don't think that's what he was getting at. of course we're better than developing countries. we just need to get our shit together inside our own borders.
