Did they really blow up chads gap??

they didnt blow it up.. they had the rcr crew come and make it safer for families and stuff..

so they put a rail in the landing making it a gap to rail, which is much safer than just a gap
 
Regardless of whether or not Chad's GAP was blown up, I think they should make it a memorial to remember those who have fallen before us. Someone should carve out tanner's face in the landing like Mt. Rushmore

so far most of the replies to this thread (first page anyway) have made me laugh pretty hard.

This is a theory, but I'm pretty sure the reason there is always a gap there is because those big trees you always see in pics beside the landing always stop the wind, so the snow always gets dumped directly behind them to make that massive pile of snow for the landing. I've seen this happen by trees all the time, so it kinda makes sense. So theoretically, if they cut down those trees, there would be no more landing and hence, no more gap. I probably shouldn't say this in case I give any ski patrollers on here ideas, Or probably everyoen knows this already and I just made a huge ass of myself by explaining something everyone knows.

is there any crews that are hititng it soon that i could join with? i want to try to make it ovr the gap but im scared on my own... i'll be at alta everyday
 
the landing of the gap is a big pile of rocks and dirt. this pile of earth was caused when miners used to mine there. so basically the landing is a big man made hill. you can't blow up a hill. Alta ski patrol has blown up the actual jump before. its not like they blew up the landing.

they blow up the jump when they find it. the jump is always replace-able. end thread
 
what i meant to say is that alta would not spend a ton of money just to blow up a hill. that would cost so much money and time
 
Heres what really happened........

last week i was up at alta with a couple of buddies and we decided to go check out chads right. well on our way down there nasty talking turtles starting beating us and breaking our ankles. during all of this we tried to yell for help but everything that came out of our mouths came out as our ankles are broken! then we all settled down for some nice hot tea and morphine.

no really they just blew the jump up but someone could make a new one
 
no one blew up chads gap. they blew up the snow for the jump but chads gap is still there!!!!!

so they kinda melted the snow in a way it will be there next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
