mikael is the nastiest, steeziest skier ever. that footy was some of the worst i have ever seen of him, but it was still pretty sick. i totally agree with his view of skiing turning into aerials. i wish he would come and bust some of his rodeos, switch corks, and unnatty 5s in comps over here more often. it would be interesting to see how he would do.

He doesn't grab at all in the third rodeo five they show him doing. That must have been part of his taking skiing back to style and sick grabs. Doing a bunch of fives without poles in the terrain park is not progressing the sport. Flailing and not grabbing in a rodeo five is definitely not cooler than doing a frontflip to a misty 5. People who do steezy double flips are pushing the sport in new directions and doing things that have never been done before.

Working to perfect your 540 nose grab is a lot of fun, and you can definitely steeze it out and look cool doing it. But I was up at Park City today, and I saw a grip of unsponsored kids doing steezy 540s on medium-sized jumps. They're having fun, and they're fun to watch. But there weren't any TV crews interviewing them. Because they're just having fun. They might be improving their 540s, but they're not pushing the sport.

Mickael's misguided commentary on double flips would be the same as if some pro skateboarder said that Tony Hawk's 900 was gay. Or like surfers claiming that surfing waves bigger than 10' tall is gay. That is, it was totally fucking retarded. When you watch slopestyles and big airs, nobody is winning them doing sketchball , no-grab 1260s. When kids win contests, they do it with a 1080 with more style and a better grab than any of Mickael's fives had. That is, they're not just "spinning to win," as Mick so eloquently puts it. They're spinning and steezing to win. And that begs the question: How in the world can spinning half as much as the contest kids with less style and a poorer grab be considered "progressing the sport"?

That being said, there was a time when Mickael was progressing the shit out of the sport. His switch tens at the US Open are a big part of the reason that switch 10 is now the trick. For that, he deserves a shitload of respect. However, he doesn't deserve to have kids suck his dick now for doing shit that every kid in PC's park can do -- especially since he's doing it without poles.

He wants to do things that are more technical than double flips and big spins...like fucking 180's and 540's? It's fine if he wants to do that. But I just don't like my intelligence being insulted by his trying to ram through the insinuation that doing 180s and 540s without poles on medium park kickers is pushing the sport in a new direction.

umm well i think if mik practiced he could do the same tricks everyone else is doing to win these comps. in my eyes a huge slow 5 or 7 is sicker than a fast 10 or 12.

no hate you are an awsome skier but dont hate because mikd has 1000 times more style than you will ever have.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Mickael's interview was a gigantic raft of bullshit, and nomensteven is the only guy smart enough to fucking catch on. Everybody else is like, "Mick D is the reincarnation of Jesus Christ and he's saving our sport from difficult tricks by doing tricks that everybody can do. Thank you Sheist D. *Gulp gulp* ooh that feels good when it sprays into the back of my throat!" And then nomensteven gets fucking flamed for being the only guy smart enough to notice that his home mountain is swarming with kids who get no love for doing sweet 540s and then infer from that observation that learning how to do 540s and both 180s is not tough, and it's not progressing the sport.

Thank you, nomensteven, for restoring my faith that some people do have fully functioning brains.

I didn't ever claim to be better than Mick. How I stack up against Mickael as a skier is not the issue here, and I never addressed it. My skiing ability is irrelevant to this conversation. It's my ability to think that is much more well developed than Mickael's.

In his heyday, Mickael was one of the best skiers out there. I don't dispute that. I love watching his shit as much as the next guy. His tricks in 1242 are fucking amazing. I love his style, and I'd be pumped if I could look like that when I skied. However, Mickael's callout to Simon in particular, and pro skiers collectively is ultra gay. To make the insinuation that you're better than Simon and other pros because you decided to quit trying and just do fives is insulting to the people you're talking about, and it's embarrassing to yourself. Mickael is free to do steezy fives and have fun skiing all the time. But the attitude of superiority about it, and the implication that his no poles 540 is cooler than Simon's frontflip to misty 7, or Gagnier's switch 1260 octograb, is completely repugnant.

That would be like me claiming that I'm a better pipe skier than Dumont because I get a better grab on my flat 5 than he does on his 12. Or claiming that I am better, and I just don't think it's cool to bring my best shit out because I'd rather just chill and have fun. That would be a totally asinine claim to make -- which is why I'd never make that claim. Sure, Mickael could probably do all the shit people are doing right now, if he wanted to. But the world is full of people with talent -- people who could do all the shit that the pros are doing. But the thing about those people who could do it, is that they don't do it. And I don't hear any of them talking shit on Dumont for being a fucking sick skier. So why should Mickael talk shit?

simon spins one way we all already know this and ummm he does look like he should be doing aerials. kid is amazing and has style for sure but the big tricks these days aerial skiers could come do. they would have to spend a few days practicing grabs but the good aerial skiers could be winning these comps..

My site is not a sponsor-me site. It is a read-me-talking-shit-on-stupid-things site. I use it mostly to rip on things I think are gay. Who knows? Maybe you'll get a profile soon.

this whole thread seems to be about the idea of "progession" and it keeps getting disscused here as if it were a linear subject matter and that is what is so messed up. It has branched out in so many areas, some kids like urban, some kids strict park, others like the idea crew are melding park and back country, and still we have good o fashion heavy metal balls to the walls seth morrison like skiing.

I dont think skiers should rip on other skiers but i do see miks point in comps. they are spijn to win, Simms your right on the steezyness of the cab 12 octo or misty 10 method that charles and simon threw at the x games but it seems like its done all the time

I mean that was Charles same run last year and same with the kangaroo flip. I would think the a rodeo 5 or 7 octo would have had more style, but yet he still through the 12 becasue its what the judges want to see. I have to say Jons flat spin five with the japan nose grab was the best trick of the whole comp

i can't believe mik d is still basking in the glory of his u.s. open wins. you don't hear candide talking about his d-spin over chad's gap, or pep carrying on about his segment in 1242. i guess that's because they're not washed-up.

he is not washed up he just doesnt care..

umm about big air comps and shit. i have seen jons kangaroo flip thrown about 8720572430752 times not to win all the comps thats just gay. jon is an amazing skier no hate but its just annoying.

i just LOST any respect I had for that guy. Back in the day being ghetto was cool; I liked his style, but I never knew him, how he really acted, or who he really was.

he is a clown. bluntly stated: "i hate the way skiing is going, but im going to ditch my poles now" dehehe hop on the short school bus retard.

Calling out Simon is completely bullshit. Total bullshit. you just dont do that at the level of ridding in the sport, as a paid professional skier. And informally calling out other skiers like Charles with his octo's is also extremly unprofessional.

You are ruining the stereotype of the amazing french skiers that are out there.

Peace out Chronic Crizzle Mik D

mik is awesome. he is looking at skiing in an awesome way. im so sick of what skiing is like now, competitions fucking suck dick. its all about doing the biggest craziest shit you can, honestly, some olympic aerialist could learn some grabs and enter the x games and destroy everyone, and thats not stretching the truth. and that is very sad, technical stuff is cool and all, but it has already gone wayyyyy too far. there is like no creativity, i respect people like jon, and dumonts skills (but i dont respect dumont as a person at all) yeah its cool they can do stuff that that crazy, but there is no creativity in skiing right now. you look at something like snowboarding, and there is soooo much more creativity, skiing doesnt even compare. people dont give a shit if so and so can do a tripple flipping 12, people get way more psyched when they see someone jib a bench or something in a cool way. and thats where skiing needs to be headed.
like 90% of snowboarders i know hate sean white, cause he is boring and only does stuff the judges wanna see. and movies are where its at in snowboarding, not comps.
mik is just doing his own thing, just doing what he wants to do, instead of letting some 40 year old judge decide for him. and if the big people in our sport start to stop being a bunch of competitive fucking football jocks, and start skiing for fun and being creative, it could totally change our sport and make it soooo much better, instead all thats going on in their head is "win win win, be the best!"
seriously, fuck comps, they are just fucking up where skiing is headed, maybe if people started trying to be creative and do what they want instead of what the judges want, then comps could be cool, but no everyone is to scared to be creative and different and its just allowing the judges to take over and turn freestyle skiing into aerials. like i had so much respect for cosco when he did that straight air kang and 180 at the open big air last year. there are all these people doing their insane technical crap taking it all serious, and he just went out there and had fun, which is what its really all about.

so seriously how the fuck this conversation got there ??

just because of one asshole called simmers, really hope it is not you simms, anyway how fucking

un-intelligent are you ..? i watched it quite a couple of times (the interview) because that is what we were supposed to talk about before you started to wyne about it, so yeah mick is not hating at all he is just telling all of us his point of view, because i know from the passed that if mick wanted to hate on someone, not gay hating like you have been doing simmer, im saying real HATE wich im sure he would of go like this more, '' hey lil bitch of simmers why don't you come and say this shit to my face you lil whore''...

im sure this is more how he would dissed and hate on someone....

Funny, I don't see guys like Pollard, Pep and Andy hating on double flips and switch 12's and complaining about the way skiing is going.

quite a couple of times hey...? nice.

and yeah that is simms and no you have no idea what you're talking about. Simms wasn't hating on anyone he was saying that Mik D shouldn't be calling other skiers out on their progression when he's not doing anything for the progression himself.
and your attempt at providing us with what you think Mik would say made you sound like your probable age of 13.

you are a lot more in the scene than anyone that has been posting in this thread so you know whats up but, i dunno i havent seen an interview yet where they ask pollard, andy or pep what they think about the comps these days.

maybe these 3 guys have been staying out of comps because they also feel no need to go and do aerial tricks to win. someone else said it before, u take amazing aerial skiers give them 2 or 3 weeks to learn how to grab and they could win all the comps.

pollard, andy, pep, and mik d by far have the illest fucking styles ever along with Tanner and u dont see tanner doing big air anymore because maybe he also feels no need to just huck to win. sure the dub flips and shit look cool but these guys think that huge steezed out slow tricks look better. i feel the same fucking way. i give mad props to who ever can throw down double flips and shit but it is just something i would never waste my time trying because i feel huge slow tricks look just as sick. as far as octo grab goes i dont think i heard him hate on them maybe he did and i didnt catch that but steeze wise i think mik d would think octos look dope.

no hate to no one this shit is just getting out of hand newschoolers is fucking gay as shit anymore and everyone looks way to far into shit instead of just taking it for what it is. if he doesnt like dub flips so fuckin be it let him have an opinion and just let it be.

ya but Symms is really in the scene, skiing and competing.

but my challenge is to one of you to ask the EXACT same questions to the Nimbus crew and then check your answers

im on neither side

wow, shit got heavy in here. mickael is a pioneer of the sport despite his attitude offending some. his butters from exact science i remember blowing my mind, the first time i had ever seen a butter done on skis, that was a long time ago. hes lazy and thug, and not afraid to say crazy shit. he doesn't like doubles, everyone quit freaking out.

i think they would have maybe a similar response, not the exact same one. they're more involved with the scene than mik is, thats not to shortside him btw. i think they probably have better relationships with the guys like jon and simon that are doing all the things that mik disliked. or maybe since they're all about bc now, they dont even worry about it. either way its not up to us to judge people on stupid little things, they're people, let them say what they want, it's their life not yours

i am glad mickael calls out people. instead of talking shit with other pros behind closed doors and pretending like everyone respects everyone, he says what he feels. right or wrong, he is saying what he thinks, which is what symms is doing. content of their arguments aside, i think that it is good that people say what they feel. symms, i completely disagree with you, but that is ok. we are allowed to have different opinions.

i agree with alot of stuff on here, and also disagree

symms talks alot of sense, i dont think its for mik d to hate on the likes of simon and charles etc. hes doing what he wants with skiing no poles, theyre doing what they want with big spins. this shit annoys me so much. just let people ski how they want, this "pushing the sport in the wrong direction" is bullshit. and i really dont see how a big stylie 180 is more tech than a 1280 octo? still got alot of time for mik, so steezy, but have to disagree with some of what he said

doubles are not creative, that shit has been done since like the 70's. and i dont know how creative mik is, you cant judge him on those couple shots they got that day. but there are people that are really being creative and doing things way differently. unfortunatly alot of these people are just random unknowns i see cruising through the park doing shit ive never seen before or though about.
