I have used the searchbar already

Okay, so me and a friend are having a discussion about pretzles. I think they are when you 270 on one way, then 270 out the opposite way. As in, spin a rightside 270 onto a rail, then spin a leftside 270 out.

He says they are when you 90 on one way, then 270 out the other way. As in a leftside 90 no, then a rightside 270 out.

So, whos right?

you both are. Pretzle-ing is just spinning out the opposite way you got on. You can get on ls and get of rs without any 270s and its still pretzle.

i say a pretzel is ..say you get onto a rail and turn left onto it( so right foot forward) then spin a 270 or anything out, but spin it out right, the opposite way

k but you cant call that a pretzal? cause for snowboarding (and im not saying its the same but) is it not just 270 out the opposite way?

I personally say you have to spin atleast 270 on but you can do a 90 out. So leftside 270 on, stop your rotation and spin 90 right to land switch.

i'm glad someone brought this up and that i wasn't the only one not too clear on the matter. i new it was something to do with a 270 out but not quite what.

i think you have to spin at least 180.

so 90 on 90 out the other way doesnt count, but 270 on and 270 other way does.

180 because i think switchups also count.

no

u are both right. if i 90 on right foot forward, then rightside 270 out...that is a pretzel.

a broken grind is when u drop ur back knee so that the base of ur ski is perpendicular to the box/rail. at least i think thats what it is... anyone feel free to correct me if im way off

yes it is.

the opposite, meaning the same thing but your front ski...is called a fast slide.

soo sliding a rail w/o going to switch is a pretzle now! sweet!

i think of a pretzle of spinning at least a 270 on one way and then spinning at least 180 (switchup) the opposite.

I think a legit preztel you have to spin at least 180 before you spin the other way.

a ball game snack!? ill have you know pretzels are delicious and can be enjoyed in the comfort of ones own home

and isnt a pretzel spinning one way then the other way out? i thought it could be done on more than just rails too like stalls and other things

that doesnt make any sense

all a pretzel is, is when you change your direction of spinning, it doesnt matter how much it is. but if i do a 90 on and a 270 out the other way, i dont claim pretzel

thanks for clearing up the broken grind thing but if thats what a fastslide is in skiing then i refuse to use that name cos the guy in the quote is right by me.

haha so now apparantly the most basic rail trick is a pretzle?

you spin 90 left/right onto the rail and then 90 right/left off of it.

i would call that a rail slide. no pretzle there

you go straight onto a rail and 270 out

i would call that front or backside 270 out. again no pretzle

you go 270 onto a rail and spin the other way out. with any number of switch ups included in it.

now thats pretzel action

1.

a crisp, dry biscuit, usually in the form of a knot or stick, salted on the outside.

2.

a larger version of this, made of soft, chewy bread dough.

straight from dictionary.com

is it a pretzel if you do a switch up but spin the same way to get on as you do to get off (with the switch up being the other way)?

originally any bs 270 was considered a pretzel.

but in my opinion itswhen you spin 270 or more jumping on or when youre already on a rail and reversing your spin in any way shape or form.

uhhh.....

front board pretzel

back noseblunt pretzel

front nose pretzel

or skiing:

skierslide pretzel

noseblunt pretzel

noseslide pretzel

all are 90 degree spins on, CHARLES.BRONSON has got it. you don't have to spin 270 on to do a "pretzel", it just has to be in the opposite direction unless it is only 90 out, then you would just say to fakie if necessary or don't say anything at all if you came out reg.

anyways, the term is fucked in skiing when people say, oh he can do pretzels (270 pretzel 270)...use it properly folks!

yeah, tom wallisch does some switch ups then spin the other way out and still calls them pretzles
