Dagmar opening Day?

If the weather stays constant... i would not all be surprised if they opened next weekend (Nov 28th weekend).

They opened 3 years ago on the last weekend in November, so it is a possibility

how much snow have their recieved since sunday, i know TO has had 0, but mslm had 40cm, so i am not sure were dag fell in

My guess is they probably got around 5-10cm. When I was on Manning you can see the hills in that area and they were white. Also later at night one of the resorts had their lights on. I think it was lakerige or skyloft. Season is definately hear. Good to hear they got the guns goin

i drove up to see the hills today and both dagmar and lakeridge and blowing like mad.... opening soontimes :):):) at dagmar i also saw they moved the whale to up to the left of the dfd, where the flat box use to be

I know its impossible to see Dag from Manning. But at night you can definately see the lights on at the hill from manning on the hill coming down from Tickson. And the other night one of them had their lights on porbably getting the snowguns ready. Dagmar is a north facing hill and you definately cant see it.

yea you can see alot of shit from the park (glen hill)...but def not the hills lol idk what ur talking about...
cause on a clear day i can see the CN tower basically from my house.

So I emailed Dagmar today asking when they would open and they emailed me back with this...

"if all goes well we will have 2-3 runs open, please check back on Fri. for more details"

So I take it they are referring to this weekend.

It's Official Folks:

Alpine Opening Nov. 22 Weekend Only

Saturday - 9am - 9:30pm

Sunday - 9am - 5pm

3 Lifts - Big Daddy, Little Momma and Magic Carpet

there will be a few features open too...not everything but a little something to keep you busy on your first day... all i can say is that it should be a whale of a good time....

apparently they opened nov.21 last year

thats what matt and chris said for it and thats what they're betting

not true you can see dagmar and lakeridge from manning

i see it from my house and im right behind the fire hall

i can mainly see lakeridge only though because it is south facing where dagmar is north facing so you can only see the luminance from the lights not the actual lights themselves

yeah

they think thats when i was last year when i don't think it was

maybe it will be im not sure but i think that it will end up being later than that

this weekend is supposed to be double digits. Im pretty sure its something around 3-5* you need at MINIMUM to attempt to make snow. Those hills have to be bare right now. They wont be open in 2 and a half weeks. If they are I will be really surprised.

no you can be around +1 or +2 even...the trick is the mix of oxygen to water. the more oxygen means the more the water molecules will be isolated, which means easier freezing.
also, the bacterial contents of the water, because this is what acts as the ice 'embryo', where water molecules will begin to turn into water crystals, commonly referred to as ice.

moral of the story is still that it is 12* this weekend back in whitby, which is far from any of our numbers.

bunch of new stuff to look forward to this season. Dagmar is now complete with 30 jibs to have fun on, here is a few with the new paint job

Just got word from my boss there and Dagmar is opening Dec 12th. Only 2-3 runs but hopefully some small setup in the park.

its not like you'll miss much luc

i dont even know if they will have anything in the park set up

yeah i work there actually as an instructor and they had a few runs open fomr what my boss told me so i didnt think they would have a huge park setup yet and they only had snow blown the the bunny hill from what ive heard

for the past 3 years (ever since new management) their priority has been opening the park first. obviously with limited features, but enough to put a big smile on your face.

Dagmar seems to understand who the die hards are and opens the park first at the beginning of the season and its always the last thing to close at the end of the season

i completely agree with you

the concentrate on their park alo

but ive heard not many runs are supposed to be open so i dont think they are gonna have a huge amount of features plus its gonna be packed with very single person who likes to ride park

They always have something to please everyone opening day.
As for it being packed with everyone who likes to ride park. Not so much considering the amount of people that don't know that they will be open. (And the mandatory bucket rule now). The average person doesn't think they're open cause there's no snow in the city so how could they possibly have snow.
It'll be a bunch of pass holders stoked to finally be riding

I don't know why but always prefer the atmosphere of a busy packed hill to an extent. As for the bucket rule. I'd rather see someone pissed off at the rule and wear a helmet rather than, regret it later when they get a concussion.

Check out the video on CTV.ca under Toronto news, looks pimp.
Any NS'ers in that video.. there has got to be?
