my dad wants me outta the house because im modifying my wrx?

duh fuck? what kid doesnt want a sick fuckign car!?

i put like 3 or 4 grand into my new wrx, $ that i saved forever myself (and bought the car MYSELF). he says im altering it and its super bad for it.. my ass? my dads rippin he says if i can afford to do this then i should be gone? he's the one who wanted me to deck my car out in the first place?

he said he talked it over with my mom and i called her and she knew nothing about it?

i think what hes getting at is, instead of saving for that, you should probably be saving for an apartment, or house of your own
 
yea, my dad does that too. even though you dont want to, you should listen to him. he prob doesnt want you spendin all your money on something that you will most likely just end up wrecking. instead, he prob wants you to help pay for college or something along that line
 
yeah, how old are you? i remember when i got my bronco i wanted to lift it, put some fancy rims on it, get a grille guard and do all sorts of other things to it but then my dad got super pissed. the whole reason is they probably want you to help pay for some of your college rather than use your money uselessly at this age on your car.
 
3 to 4 grand into a new car you just bought. Sounds like a waste of money to me. I'd rather spend that money on ski stuff, or a trip somewhere or a week of skiing in Chile during the summer.

I really hop your not some 20 year old kid living with his parents, because i think it would be pretty easy to figure why your dad doesn't want you spending all your money on "decking out" your wrx.

but if your just finishing up high school then im guessing he wants you to save your money for school or something worth while

yeah they don't see it as spending your money wisely, all he's doing is looking out for you. try to make a case that it's a true passion of yours and he should support you through that but w/ei hate it when parents try to take away things that you've bought when they have no right to

im a electrician and save my money, didnt go to college because i went to a tech school for my trade

cars not brand new its a 07 but im into working on cars and making stuff my own. its my second passion and DEFINALLY not a waste on $ he says " you dont need your car to be fast as hell your just gunna wrap yourself around a tree. i told him im not out there to go fast its just bragging rights that you have the parts on your car at shows, then he told me " its not you its the other drivers" ?huh??
 
ok, i have a question, if you arent going to race it, whats the point of putting most likely a turbo, twin cams, exhaust, intake, and a bunch of other performance parts? i know guys that dont race and all they do to their cars is put in a cold air intake to help the gas mileage some.
 
ok, i just saw the "its for bragging right" part and jumped on that. but honestly dude, if you can drop, what? 4-5 Gs for the WRX maybe more plus another 3-4 Gs for the aftermarket stuff i think you should be living on your own. if i could drop 4Gs into my bronco for performance and 4wheelin stuff in it i would move out first and live in an apartment with a roommate or two.
 
So move out! Like you said your 18 and dropping 4 grand on your car? Seriously grow up and live on your own. I moved out (from Massachusettes to Vermont) 6 months after i turned 18. Im 26 now and still live in VT. It makes you grow up quick and get your shit straight.
 
well ive been looking for an apartment and one with utilities and water included is 875 that only a 2 bedroom..and im not living where there are shootings and those homes are still 575 with nothing included cept parking.. where i live everythings soo expensive and i cant move cuz i got a killer job and my parents didnt want me moving out cuz of the economy soo i took the money from selling my wheeler and used for my car.. now that i did that my dad wants me out... no matter what everyones gunan c me as the bad guy i guess youde have to be here

haha yeah it can get frustrating cause your parents still want to help you out but they also want to see you doing your own thing. Im sure in a week or after a good talk with your dad you can come to an agreement
 
you should maybe rethink on what your gonna buy, what you need and what you really dont need. but dont let anyone ever stop you from doing something you truly believe in especially if its your parents.
 
Everyone who modifies their car eventually realizes how much of a waste of money it is. It just takes some people longer to figure it out.

There is no good reason to drop $3-4k on a wrx just to make it fast.
 
I've got to agree with dad here.

If you are 20, not in college and dumping money into a car, you are being irresponsible.

And this is coming from someone who loves cars, and more or less did the same thing on a smaller scale.

In the end, having your own place is much more satisfying.
 
yea most kids who are in highschool and have no idea about what theyre doin and are just beginnin life go out and buy WRX's and what happens. they try and go fast and then car accidents. so common. i dont have a car yet but lookin at my bro, he thinks hes the best driver out there.
on the other hand, i would soooo much rather have a sick nasty car than a house.....like a fully tuned fast and furious car.
 
sorry dude, but fast and furious cars are fucking pathetic pieces of shit. the base cars are nice, but for the most part all they are is body mods. im talking about real life fast and furious cars. like i know a guy that put close to 2gs worth of body mods just to make his car look like a fast and furious car. because when people talk like that thats what they want, looks, not performance.

go for your own place man.

And I bet he would place in the lowest third in an Auto-X event (which effectively neutralizes a cars assets and measures the driver's ability)

I am not saying dump the car and screw it all, but look at it from your dad's side, and try to put aside some money to save up to move out and get your own place, which is way more fun to "pimp out" then a car is anyways.
 
yeah, but im basing this off of the experience ive had with people saying they wanted TUNED fast and furious cars... the car ends up being a civic with a turbo that my bronco would get better use out of and so many body mods that it looks like a prelude instead of a civic. im just going from my own personal experience. sorry.
 
yeah i've lived on my own for a few years now.... but i got all fucked up on shit and now im livin back "home" im doin all the right things.... like seriously.... mom dukes found a needle in my jacket pocket ( i found it wanted to get rid of it) soooo now ima be outta here me thinks.... and its like fuck it yo if ima be homeless i might as well be fucking loaded..... im hangin by a thread here and am getting the "fuck its" severely bad....

but anyway man.... your young.... do your thing... whatever that is... your parents will get over it.. and if they dont you sound like you got your shit together, get a roommate and ball out.

Well, that sucks man but you have to understand where your dad is coming from. If you have a full time job and the means to live on your own (which you do if you can afford to put $4 G's into a car), then you are basically just mooching off of him and spending your money on fun stuff for you. Know what I mean?
 
well you are only 18 so that is young to move out, but at the same time, out of sigh out of mind...don't tell your dad what you are doing to your car to modify it. I mean he's going to see exterior work, but keep everything else to yourself.
 
dude, chill brah, when i say i want a fast and furious car, i am talkin about them bein like supersick engine but also them lookin cool. what would you rather have, not for racing purposes, just for riding the street; a fully modified engine but a not so great looking outside, or a nice as body kit wit everything you want on the outside but this a not so perfect engine. i would pick the second....only bcuz i "think" i would be smart enough to not try and go 100 on a 50 road. but 2gs for a body mod will lead you to a shitty body mod...the body kit my dad was lookin at for his BMW was 4 itself.
 
you know, i'm not a big truck guy myself.. i mean they're fun for off road for sure, but do dont see a purpose for a lot of people modding them to be fast on road..
 
dude wrx stock is fast enough for just driving around you dont need any of that shit on it and you just void the warranty.
 
the only thing i would really do to it would be if its a diesel put a turbo in it but most diesel trucks come with a turbo. and maybe cold air intake to help gas mileage some as well as custom exhaust to get ride of the cats and shitty stock muffler that really REALLY fuck with back pressure... past that nothing other than maybe a canopy (i travel cross country to get to college in the rain) and a shit ton of stickers on all the back windows or the canopy.

do what you want, the people here arent the voice of reason, it is your own money but if you and your dad are clashing over something like this maybe it is time to move out. I know when i moved out my relationship with my parents improved drastically.
 
so in regards to T-Wallnutsack's first post, i just read his second one, and i apologize to you. turns out he did just want a "sick" looking car. fuuuck that i'd rather have a car with missing bumpers with a dope engine and components than a car that looks sick but drives like shit.

anyways, yeah i can see those regular i/h/e mods for the trucks, but i hate when people drop them to the ground... it completely takes the off-roading ability out of the truck - i mean, unless they use airbags.. but i dont think those do too well off-road.
 
he's saving you from a really bad investment. any kid who pimps out their car looks like a jack ass for a few years, then is in debt because they cant afford the insurance, or sell it because its a fucking match box car.
 
i have a friend with a civic... ok yes, its a civic but get over it... the thing has NO driver's side window, its painted camo with HOUSEPAINT, and has no rear bumper or panels inside it.... now, under the hood, there are twin cams, custom made exhaust (made by me /claim), turbo, air intake and a whole host of other things.... i would take a rust bucket POS looking car like that if it had that stuff inside of it...

and im sure K2skipunk would agree with me dropping trucks, or lifting them just for show.... is fucking GAY!

i hope i didnt offend anyone with that last comment.
