Copy iPod to iTunes Thread?

There used to be a thread somewhere that explained how to copy the music from your iPod into a different iTunes library? Can anyone find it or explain how to do it? I did it once before using that thread, but now i need my music in a different iTunes. Help anyone?

i haven't done this in a while, so i'm not sure if you can still do this, but if you open your ipod through my computer (i'm assuming you have a pc), and go through the folders there will be a bunch of music files with encoded names. thats your library. you can copy it onto your computer but you won't be able to pick and choose a specific song from the files, itunes WILL have the artist and album information for the files though.

if you want the artist and album info for the files on your computer you have to download a program that will copy your library for you. i think there's one called copypod(??) not sure though... google it

Allright, here is how you do it:

1. Go to Control Panel>Folder Options and set your computer to show hidden files and folders.

2. Go to My Computer. Your iPod should be named something like "Removable Disk F:" or "iPod F:". Click on it.

3. Click on the iPod_control folder, which will be grayed (because it's hidden).

4. Click on the "Music" folder.

5. There should be a bunch of folders in there named F 1 thru F 49. There are a bunch of media files inside with random 4 letter names, like "SFEF"

6. These are your muic and video files, so copy then to your computer.

7. When you add them to iTunes, the correct names will come up in iTunes, because the ID3 tags are still there, so don't worry about renaming.

8. Raise my karma.

Sweet +Karma for you both thanks. Lakeffect i think you were the one in the old thread who explained it

and while were on the subject..a friend of mine is rebuilding my computer and i want to get my 2500ish songs saved onto something so i dont have to start over because hes putting in a new hardrive. what can i use to store those?

there are lots of programs that do it for you, and you can pick exactly which tracks to copy....better if yuo're ripping only parts of it

ipod or external hard drive. i'd recommend an external. seriously i got one a while ago and its dedicated solely to music. best investment i've made. EVER.

okay so have a problem here and i really don't understand what everyone is saying here. i was going to swipe my memory so i just synced up my ipod and put all my songs on there. now my memory is swiped and it is like new again. so how can i take the songs from my ipod and put them into my itunes. because i thaught when you sync up to a new computer it swipes the memory off the ipod. so if someone could please help me out here that would be awesome ++++KARMA++++
