Cool basement ideas

yo ns,

My house is being renovated and my parents said its all up to me what happens to the basement. So i'm thinking of making a ski shack kinda themed place. Note space is limited because its a townhouse. I already have a nice home theater system and 50 inch tv with a leather couch. Im thinking of hanging a pair of skis on the wall, lay down some nice hardwood floor and get some ski posters as well.

any ideas ns? I want this place to be a chill place so throw ideas at me!

 
Lay down ugly green carpet, cover walls in irregular wooden planks and start to DANCE!

ugh no leather couches and no hardwood floor! that's no fun! BIG fluffy couches and fluffy soft carpet for laying on and watching movies is where it's at. also ping pong table

yea! they won't be suspicious as to why you bought a huge stainless steel kitchen fan to put in the middle of your basement.
 
I like wood floors, classy stuff, but not for a basement, plus if you basement were to ever flood you'd be fucked.
 
so are thick fluffy carpets

a nice rug on nice wood floor is a great compromise
 
yea exactly, there's a time and a place for wood floor. plus with carpeted basement you can have people sleep on the floor
 
Uh.... nah. Hard wood and leather is the way to go, if you want carpet or something put a nice hard woven rug over the hardwood. Carpet is nasty. OP make sure you get the walls a good color and use lighting thats warm/inviting
 
Have your own room be the ski-typ room. Here's what you need in the basement:

honestly, I'd make it a place where I could make awesome stuff. Fireplace would be bomb!
 
Paint it rasta colors, make a shrine to JAH/thall, the implement the industrial kitchen can so your mom doesn't know you smoke jah righteous ganja
 
I gotta a nice basement setup, Its two rooms, one has a drumset with some amps and mics and whatnot, the other has 2 couches and some chairs with a tv and a super nintendo. It smells just shitty enough so its not annoying but and my parents dont like coming down. Its got a door that leads right out side too into my backyard jib
 
Shag carpet and a rug made from a bear. Or just a bunch of rugs made from bears. And some stuffed bears guarding the doorway
 
get a god damn reclining chair. and a thick ass rug carpet so your flailing drunk friends can come over and have a fucking amazing time on the carpet.
 
didn't think i would get all these responses, thanks a ton guys. Just to clarify, I already have the bar fridge ready, a nice home theater system all the walls soundproofed, looking at building a custom beer pong table too.

Don't bother getting just a ping pong table. Get a pool table. They sell the slabs that are ping pong tables that you can place on top of pool tables that work perfectly. This way you have a pool table, a ping pong table, and beer pong table all in one. Saves you room and maximizes the fun
 
buy a big cheap wood coffee table on craigslist. Spray paint it white or another light color. Leave sharpies on coffee table. Have visitors write messages on it or sign it...also slap some ski stickers on it.

You can get a dartboard for a reasonable price

Put a mini fridge next to the sofa so that you can get beer without having to get up.

Install a dumbwaiter so that your mom can send nom nom nom down, and you can send dirty dishes and trash up.
 
heated stone tile floors, but if not i'd go with the hardwoodand some sort of animal mounted on the wall.. or just antlers
