Conversation starters on the chairlift

when its a chick

"sorry ya know what time is it" - with little luck it turns into conversation

and i dont talk with other people they seem boring

i hate this! they dont have that at my home mountain, but the next closest mountain does. Theres so many parents with there kids, so before we get out of the lift station, that bar is on my head.

awesomeusually, if i am with a friend and we are on a lift with someone who looks like a nonlocal, we just try to act like the biggest gapers. for example:-if it is a really shitty snow day, comment on all the sick powder-point to the top of the mountain and ask if you can actually ski up there, and say how dangerous it looks.-ask when they started allowing snowboarders (i ski big sky which has, of course, always allowed boarders)-make a big fuss whenever someone below is skiing switch. "is that legal??!! it looks so dangerous."-mispronounce names of runs/ mountainsits super fun

Sit in silence with my tunes if I am by my lonesome, unless they happen to have some sweet gear to comment on... or they comment on mine.

one time i was in a gondola with my two friends and then this lady and her daughter and these two other guys and the girl was like 8 and then she started talking to her mom and then was staring at all of us. then she went around the gondola pointing at each one of us and saying what type of fruit we would be if we were a fruit.
now whenever i get on a gondi wit my friends i say "if you were a fruit you would be ..." and i do it for everyone on the gonodla and then the rest of the ride is sillent lol

I usually listen to music unless they say something, I rode with some hot ass chick yesterday so I started off by using the "how old are you?"

whenever a single gets on the chair with me and a couple of my friends, i'll lean over and start talking to whoevers next to the single, starting with

"dude, i know we've been friends for a while, so i gotta tell you, i have no problem with you being gay. i know youre not planning on trying anything with me, so im not bothered by it. that took nads coming out to us, and those guys were just being dicks, but im all fine with you being gay"

Damn that annoys me so much....I always ride with 2 of my friends so we're tree and we never get the bar down...sometimes a random dude or woment come with us and I don't know why I always get the fucking bar on my head

I always yell FUCKKKK like if it hurts so the person feels bad.

And me and my friends start talking about hard drugs stories and whore houses stories. We try to be as serious as possible to get that person traumatized.

Sry for my bad english haha

And for the main thread....youre a girl if it's a guy just say hello he'll answer you haha.

I just start singing. then usually people sing along or tell me how much i suck at it. that is a very good way to start a conversation.

i always just somehow fall off or miss the chair so i never have to ride up with people and talk to them

its too risky

ride the lift with a friend, and have one of you pretend to be a hick.hillbilly, and the other one pretend to be a hood rat, and have conversations.

I hate when motherfuckers try to talk to me on the lift. I don't give a fuck about where you're from, how your day's going or any other bullshit. The worst is when it's just me and my girlfriend skiing, empty lift lines and some douchebag tries to get on the same chair as us, the same type of queer who always puts the bar down without even asking or telling.

Seriously. I'm glad I sold mine, because talking with people about them on the lift is the most annoying thing ever. It appears that every person must comment on how large they are, and they all forget that; A. I bought them. I know. and B. Everyone else points it out, so I certainly don't forget.

TRUTH. especially if i'm jammin' to some tunes and then have to take my headphones off to hear what the fuck they're saying. soo annoying. now i just keep my goggles down (fire iridium) so they can't see my eyes and just completely ignore people...

depending on who i;m on the chair lift, i'll make a farting noise, look at the person, and say "Thats disgusting".

pretend to talk to yourself. or if someone wipes out under you, yell out "wow that was awesome can you teach me to do that?!"

I just do the usual comment on conditions, especially if its a powder day and the person could possibly let me in on some stashes.

Sometimes you meet some really cool or just really funny people. Like the other day I was on a chair at a mountain like an hour away and the guy i was talking to turned out to be my gym teacher's old coach. Another time I was riding up with this huge guy who was talking about how he used to get hammered and ski, but that he eventually stopped because "it was too dangerous going 80mph down a hill while hammered"

Well when lines are huge and my friends and I split up into the singles line to get to the top faster. Its just my luck that I get parred up with gapers... so usually i just rest my head on the bar and don't talk to them at all. I try to find out there level of gaperness by how they talk about the passing skiers slash snowboarders.

It's hilarious. My Aussie friend and I used Swedish accents and started talking about physics on the Peru lift at Keystone which goes over the park. We talked about gravity and other complete bullshit. Now that was a funny ride.

lol, you know something similar happened to me once over at vail... don't know if they were faking a swedish or just some other european accent... anyways, my friend and i totally knew they were full of shit so we started speaking in portuguese and passed as brazilians... totally worked.. hehe
