Watch for the Girls who are chowing down on the Ice Cream the first week. Remember what they look like so you can laugh at what they become by the end of the year.
Become the local book seller guy. I started buying back books from everybody in the dorm for a little bit more then the school would buy them back. I then sold them on ebay and half.com, double or tripling my money. I also put a 'DONATE YOUR USED BOOKS' box by the School run book buy back booth. At the beginning and end of each semester, I was pulling around 100-150 books a day for 5 days. I made ~6,500 alone selling books last year. This money is good for ski trips and beer.
Join clubs. I am in a skiing club and a bike club. The club gets a huge budget and we go on trips. If your club doesn't get a huge budget, why not? Get active and find out how to beef it up. My ski club only got 500 a year when i joined, now we get 4,000 and 2,000 in special interest money if we need it. I ended up only paying 200 bucks to ski in tahoe for 7 days with slopeside condos. very tits
Learn everything you can about computers. Both applications and building/fixing. The profs come to me when they have problems now, which in return helps me get a better grade.
Like a guy said above, working helps you focus. If you dont work and just fuck away your time, the homework just gets sidelined. If you know you have a paper to write and you have to work, you get that damn paper done so it's not late.
Dont overload your classes, College can be way harder then Highschool if you are in tough program.
Pick a major right away, you can always switch at any point. Gives you some direction and you wont sound like a twit when somebody asks you what you are going to school. Plus, everybody changes at least once. I was a materials engineer first year, now i'm a marketing and stats major.
