College Acceptance 08 thread

one of my better friends is going there, hes a BIGGG blazer

i got into: UNH, UVM, CU,  and JMU, CU being top choice

I just realized that this is the 4th year in a row that I'm going through some kind of uni application process, but this time I'll actually stick with it if i get in. I'm going to have to wait till the end of May to find out if I got into the photojournalism major in my program. it's gonna be a long two months.

I got into Saint Michaels, Green Mountain College, Champlain, Johnson State and Central CT State.

Im pretty sure im going to Champlain b/c i got a scholarship there and even though i got one at st mikes too, it still just costs mad bills.

You're gonna love it... I live in ithaca now, and i know cornell pretty much in and out (I'm not going there, I'm in Highschool) but it's a mad fun town and the campus is great. you're a lucky kid

I do not qualify for that, my parents make too much, and I don't want to go into debt. Maybe I'll transfer when I'm done with JC, we'll see. For now, I still enjoy having my freedom.

Your parents cant afford 30 grand tuition but they make too much to qualify for financial aid? Schools like Yale and Harvard give financial aid to families that pull in 200+ grand. Sorry, but your story sounds like a load of shit to me, unless your parents wont pay for your college so thats why you're going into JC. Otherwise, if you are passing up on yale you are a complete retard, and have fun enjoying your "freedom", since you know, you can't have any freedom in Yale.

yale and harvard give merit aid to 200k+ families. im sure that he does not qualify for that. also, he does not qualify for need based, because his family pulls down too much $$. im in the exact same situation at my schools.

If his parents pull in like 250k a year so he doesnt qualify for financial aid he can certainly afford 30k a year, assuming of course his parents are willing to pay for college and considering the situation and how much time they must have put into his education, Id have a hard time believing they wont pay. I mean if college just isnt for him thats all good, but shit theres no reason to pass up on yale for a fucking JC. If anything you can pay off that debt with what youll be pulling in with a Yale education. In the end though, his life, not mine. If thats really his decision, well I think hes an idiot, but it doesn't really matter what I think~

if you get into colby go man. i dont wanna be the only newschooler up there next year haha. it seems like nobody from this website is there...

my parents pull in about 175-200k (i think), and we cant afford to pay for a private education out of pocket. my parents could, if they stopped putting any money into retirement, etc. but its hard to do.

I'd be an idiot to pass up going to a fucking easy cheap JC, living in a house with my two best friends, and having time to ski as much as I want. Indeed, I am an idiot. Actually I love taking easy classes.

I have 50 grand towards college, I'm going to spend it wisely. Besides, I'd rather stay in California, I only applied for Yale because I got a letter from their latino community inviting me to apply.

Financial Aid still means you have to pay it back. Its not a grant. I'm not planning on graduating with over 100k in debt.

Yeah for sure that sounds good. Just seemed like a waste to me because most people who get into Yale pretty much have to gear a huge part of their pre-college life towards getting in. I would've though you'd have a lot more than 50k to spend on college too... My family pulls in way way less than 200k but I wont be graduating with any debt. I just guess if it had been me, I would've killed to be invited to go to Yale, and id be more than happy to accept financial aid and graduate with a hefty debt considering what you could do with a Yale education. Though, in reality I don't think Yale would be the college for me, maybe if id been invited to MIT haha~
