Mistitled my last thread. Should've been Cold Rush. Shitty to lose such an awesome event though.

said it before, ill say it again...

fuck you redbull go give more money to travis rices overrated bitchass. or build shaun white his own useless fucking halfpipe that will be hit for 1 week.

It's like rain on your wedding day...

I was feeling so good about all the cool shit that they were doing after Stratos but this bums me out big time. Cold Rush was one of my favorite events to follow.

the art of flight sucked dick. and was not worth the $2 million (at least) that redbull gave him to make the shitty movie.

thus, overrated/overhyped or whatever you wana call it.

That really sucks. Cold Rush was a progressive event. K2 should bring back the Back 9 in its place.

Meh,

Maybe if you of the "moar BANGERZ!" mindset. But on top of T.Rice. Guys Like John Jones, Nico Muller, and of course my fav of all time Mark Landvik, all threw down some serious segments. Almost made me want to snowboard again.....almost.

i hope you are joking, even as a skier you need to appreciate how sick art of flight was, travis rice through tricks like bs 7s into some shady ak lines and even straight lined a bunch of shit switch. i am just as bummed as everyone else about cold rush but art of flight was on another level

Back 9 was an incredible idea for an event and it would be amazing if that format was put to use somehow this winter for a comp.

To be honest though, Cold Rush was a snoozefest. Im not sure what the perception of the athletes were but as a spectator, I got real bored watching the "highlights". I dont know what happened because on paper it sounds incredible, but in real life it just didnt work out. Im not surprised by this news...

no it wasnt sick. it was 15 minutes of riding and 50 minutes of talking about how dangerous it was and how badass rice is for doing it.

boring as fuck.

idk, I thought there was way too much slowmo and I think it was one of the most overrated movies of last year.

Its a good film, but doesn't deserve the godlike status everyone gives it

Don't you guys know? Sports real people play are out, building halfpipes for one person on a goddam mountain face to lap in a heli and jumping out of spaceships are in. Get with the times.

im not saying movies have to be banger shots all the way through (although im not complaining about them either. EOS, any stept movie for example). id just like some damn creativity, ie pep's urban line, logans abandon building, or fuckin whatever. 'WE' sucked dick as a movie because it was the same formula ski movies have used for the past 50 years despite a sick as crew and some really cool skiing. same goes for the art of flight just on a much larger scale in the "same old shit" department.

WHAT THE FUCK. day was going great till now, i love the cold rush event.

Fuck you redbull

Whoa brother. Take the intensity level down a notch.

Every other shot in The Art of Flight was a banger. I loved the Planet Earth filming style too. Got to see some awesome landscapes/animals/etc. TRice charges harder than anyone else out there and definitely shows an enormous amount of creativity. Can't believe the amount of hate that movie receives. It's one of my go-to movies to watch even as a skier.

Also, were you talking about JP's urban line from All I Can? Cuz that was dope too.

watch thats it thats all and tell me travis is overrated, all four direction dubs into pow before most big name pros had even one direction, not to mention his ability to read a slope is unreal...

they always did all this promoting and advertising touting how much coverage there was going to be. then the event would happen and you barely knew it was going on and a 4 min vid came out from each day....

ridiculously sick event but the coverage was always subpar.

This, I wanted it to be awesome, but it really wasn't that great. I'm sure its awesome to the people involved.

However, Red Bull should dump Travis Rice's comp that he built all the features for at Baldface. Great idea, but was worse to watch than Cold Rush.

Anyone knocking Art of Flight is retarded, don't hate because of big budget. If all you want is handrails, then you shouldn't have watched AOF. Strictly from a money making standpoint, AOF was the ultimate success for the snow film industry. People that don't ski/snowboard or don't usually see snow sports movies went out and saw it because it was so good. Thats the point of a movie, TO MAKE MONEY. People talking about progression or bangers or whatever are entirely too caught up in the importance of our recreational activity. Put a little more effort into real life...its not like you're going pro....

Sucks that Cold Rush got cancelled.. it was a good event, great progres in backcountry skiing

it would be sick that they would let skiers in the redbull supernatural course this year though, imagine what dane, pollard, benchetler or pettit would to on a course like that.

Anyone else hear that Redbull is trying to move away from action sports and more into music? We heard this through our local Redbull rep (we have a contract to carry their brand exclusively at our bars). It would make sense financially for Redbull to target the music demographic as they generally have more money to spend and are a much larger market. Cancelling Cold Rush could just be the start of them switching to a music focus.
