Christian skiers

WE are animals. We aren't some special creature that is being looked out for by some invisible man with special intentions for us. We have about as much worth as grass. What is the point of living? That is for you to decide and fulfill, not some divine ventriloquist.

Even then, within yours and my lifetime, the world populous will reach an unsustainable level. And after that, it will get worse. Humans will go extinct. Same exact thing happened with dinosaurs. And if it isn't overpopulation, it will be from illness, because of over-sanitation and our lack of immune system. And if not that, global warming from burning so much fuel. And if not that... the list goes on and on. To deny that any of these wiping out our species would be completely asinine.

And I believe God exists. He exists just as much as love or hate. He lives in the minds of people who choose to believe and allow such an idea to influence their actions. Does "He" control the fate of the universe? No.

And I don't see why all the non Christians here are hating so much. Do you really think talking shit over the internet is going to make them stop and question the very foundation of their morals and self? The fact that I am even saying this shows how pathetic some people are. All of you.

first of all for you to say you believe god exsists but say that stuff about him you totally contradict what the meaning of god is, and yes some people are hating but if you read the past few pages most of this is just discusion not fighting or ripping on each other

the bible has never been a reputable source of evidence for anything, including everything in it.

i'm catholic

but i don't really go to church or do anything related to being a catholic, but i like to ski. do i count

nothing, because there is nothing to refute. the bible does not prove it's own validity and therefore there is no point in trying to refute it. it refutes itself by sitting in a living room or on a bedside table, while the rest of humanity continues to research, discover, and prove that many of the stories in it were highly exaggerated and/or untrue.

real scientific evidence has proven otherwise....

to say that the bible makes it true, would be like saying that harry potter must actually exist. just because there is no proof it doesnt exist (large portions of the bible HAVE been proven untrue) doesnt mean it exists.

furthermore, the bible never claims itself to be valid. it simply tells stories, the same as ANY other book, and as far as i know most other books, including scientific ones, never claim themselves to be true, or valid, because the writers, including the writers of the bible, all know that someday their words could end up being proved wrong. if the people who wrote the bible had that much common sense, how come some of the people who read it, still to this day, don't?

okay how do you belive in god but dont believe he controls anything and your pretty much saying in one of your previous sentnces that he's an imaginry figure in our mind.

Before i waste my time trying to find an answer, could you tell me which of the stories have been proven to be true? If not, I think we've found a paradox.

I never said I believed in God. I said I believe he exists.

Think of how many extremists have done crazy things in the name of "God." To deny God's existence, or should I say influence, would be to deny that there are people in this world who truly believe in him. Our actions are an extension of our psyche. There is no denying that.

For example, I'd say Santa exists too, since he is the face of the most materialistic holiday of the year, and this fabricated image of such a person influences so many people. Do I think he is a living, breathing person? No.

God is simply a concept. God exists in people's minds. I think you believe in God and live your life based on the Christian teachings in order to be a better person or for some personal ulterior motive. With that said, unless you've personally met him and shaken his hand, you have no basis other than the Faith Card.

It may be surprising to know that the Bible contains many scientific truths.

The Bible frequently refers to the great number of stars in the heavens. Here are two examples.

  1. Genesis 22:17

Blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your

descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.

  1. Jeremiah 33:22

“As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea

measured, so will I multiply the descendants of David My servant and

the Levites who minister to Me.”

Even today, scientists admit that they do

not know how many stars there are. Only about 3,000 can be seen with

the naked eye. We have seen estimates of 1021 stars—which is a lot of stars.(The number of grains of sand on the earth’s seashores is estimated to be 1025.)

ok.... ive been calm and respectful up until now.

BUT ARE YOU SERIOUS?

CONGRATULATIONS. THE PEOPLE THAT WROTE THE BIBLE COULD SEE!!!!!!!

and they thought hmmmm, theres a shitload of those up there. there might be more we cant see!!!!!

oh but while were at it, the earth is the center of the solar system...

Figuring that there's more stars that they couldn't see is one thing, but being able to compare it as closely as they did is quite amazing. As scientists continue to discover more stars, wouldn’t it be interesting to discover that these two numbers match?

Biology shall we?

The book of Leviticus (written prior to 1400 BC) describes the value of blood.

  1. Leviticus 17:11

‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’

The

blood carries water and nourishment to every cell, maintains the body’s

temperature, and removes the waste material of the body’s cells. The

blood also carries oxygen from the lungs throughout the body. In 1616,

William Harvey discovered that blood circulation is the key factor in

physical life—confirming what the Bible revealed 3,000 years earlier.

i see no number specified in either of those verses.... infinity is not a number. saying we dont know how many of something there are, does not make something right.

as for biology, sure he "discovered" it, but again, people before that could tell that blood was pretty important to life. hence why when you cut someone... they die.

Obvious that the number of stars can be related to the number grains of sand? The entire earth hadn't been discovered yet.

The Bible described the shape of the earth centuries before people thought that the earth was spherical.

  1. Isaiah 40:22

It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,

And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,

Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,

And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

The word translated “circle” here is the Hebrew word chuwg

which is also translated “circuit,” or “compass” . That is, it indicates something spherical, not something that is flat or square.

The book of

Isaiah was written sometime between 740 and 680 BC. This is at least

300 years before Aristotle suggested that the earth might be a sphere.

Nowhere in the Bible does it claim that the Earth is flat, or that it is the center of the universe.

Circuit or compass indicate something spherical, rounded, or arched.

something round. again, they could have looked at the moon. it doesnt imply any sort of knowledge there. again, just because it doesnt say one thing, doesnt mean it does say another.

They probably did look at the moon. What do you think they thought it was? It's amazing how scriptures point to the scientific truths that exist today, especially considering how long it took for man to figure these things out.

Can you imagine how mystified and confused they could have been when it was in it's waxing or waning phases? Wow, it's amazing how far mankind has come.

aahhahahahaha. when i was a little kid i was at my aunts house in st louis and they had me go to church. i ended up going to sunday school with my cousin, and i came home and proudly proclaimed "yeah they told some cool storys...." my aunt knew then, i wasnt gonna be a churchgoer like her hahaha

I don't thoroughly understand why this thread got so extremely out of hand.

Why is it that when it comes to religion everyone has to make a scene, especially when it comes to Christianity. Are Christians bad people for having a faith? They don't say otherwise about people who aren't Christian. Sure, there are the bible thumpers and the crazy fanatics who would make the Pope cringe, but it doesn't mean we're all like that. Christians don't contest against anyone else's beliefs, but somehow we always end up being the first to get bashed. Are Christians supposed to sit back and take it?

if you don't like it, don't say anything. It's called tolerance, and any decent human with a conscience has one.

are you implying that by debating im intolerant? get off your high horse. debating never hurt anyone, if anything it widens peoples perspectives. its not gonna hurt anyone, it just gives everyone a chance to look at how someone else thinks.

yes. they were probably confused as hell... so were a lot of people about a lot of stuff back then.

Iit does hurt people when the debate implies that Christians are ignorant, and that it's perfectly fine to poke fun at them.

I agree it gives everyone a chance to see how othgers think, but I don't know if Christians really want to see that people don't think very highly of them.

And I don't think I like seeing that people think I am an idiot for being a Christian.

yes your right it is based offof faith and youcan'tsay im wrong for my faith, and i have own personal reasons for my faith

oh and yes... I should get off of my "high horse", shouldn't I? because I think ever so low of people who are not of Christian faith.

This is the exact kind of attitude toward people of faith I am talking about.

I don't think I am better than anyone. I just want my life to have a deeper meaning. If that's something I should be ashamed about, so be it.

BEN. you are being exactly what shessaying everyone is against, no i we have hadsome legitimate discussion which is good, but dont get angry at what we say cause were not to you. and for the rest of you dont even make a comment if your going to say something stupid

your getting offended over something no one else was.

also, i realize people who dont have faith are often like that, however theres easily an equal number of people who look down on those without faith.
