Che Guevara

do you actually know much about him?? I find so many kids go on and on about him and they have no fucking idea what he stood for. Legend for sure though man

yeah, thats kind of annoying. i really dont care much though and dont know a whole lot about the guy but i just watched the motorcycle diaries. good movie

Yeah i dont really know much about him, but i've just been doing heaps of research into him, reading books and watching documentaries. He was a marxist socialist, was he not?

legend for sure, he is arguably a true socialsist as he left the comfort of a high strung government official to bring about a socialist revolution through out south america which ultimatly led to his death, at the hands of western oppression (america cia) / the bolivian army

A Hero? Really? Anyone that murders that many innocents and is driven by "pure hate" surely isn't a hero.

And don't trust wikipedia- if I wanted I could write an article on how aliens impregnated bigfoot to create humans. Really, anything that can be edited so easily should be approached with caution.

my friend is his like great grandson or some shit. he knows what hes up to. i dont and i dont think hes that cool. maybe he is if i learn about him but i dont have time or interest

i knew the grandson of the Chilean leader Pinochet. unlike che guevara, this man is a true hero who disposed the communist Allende from power and saved Chile from a future of extreme poverty and oppression under communism. however i see no one sportin shirts with his face on them. fuck communism and anyone who believes in it.

thank you. and he isnt a "legend". you arent socialist. you arent going to rebel and kill a few people as you try to overthrow everything keeping you happy. to idolize him is pure ignorance. tell me honestly that you are a true socialist and not a teenager whos mother gave you money to go to the movies and grab a pizza with your friends.

i agree to disagree... i dont really know that much about him.makes me think of that stencil someone posted with him adn then "i haveno idea who this is" under it hahah

skogen jake and b_rasta what the fuck are you talking about? did you read your posts before posting them? you sound really stupid.

communism has never worked and it never will. Anyone who can look on the realistic and not the idealistic side of communism can see its one of the dumbest ideas ever.

^ and your post doesn't make you look like a babbling moron at all.

I hate how all you political activist self rightous hemp wearing kids put on a Che Guevara shirt and think you're different and rebelious because you're wearing a shirt with a communist on it in a capitalist society. Guess what, YOU'RE NOT! Che Guevara is like fucking Napoleon Dynamite, pretty soon we're gonna start seeing Che Guevara shirts in the novelty clothing section of Target. The fact is its trendy to wear a Che Guevara shirt.

On a different note, I HATE COMMUNISTS! and don't tell me im ignorant because I'm not, Im probably from the most liberal town in the country, where anyone who doesn't bash the president and Republicans gets stoned to death. On top of that, my very own late grandfather, who i loved very much was one of the premier leaders of communist activists in Canada. Bearing that in mind, i say that people who think Communism would be great are forgetting two things:

1.)OUr entire way of life would be thrown down the drain. Simply put, in a communist society, there is no room for the pursuit of individual happiness. You can be happy, but you would live the way everyone else does. In the same house, wearing the same clothes, eating the same food. Without competition in the market we wouldn't have any choice of private or personal items, and while you may say this is superficial, think for a moment what the world would be like if there was only one type of car that everyone owned, one type of shoes, one type of house. It would be boring, everyone would be the same and we would say goodbye to a piece of our humanity.

2.) The second thing pro communists forget to take into account is that in a communist society, in which no one gets paid anything to do their jobs (or everyone gets paid the same amount) there is no reason for anyone to strive to do a good job at what they're doing. If there is no incentive to push for innovation and progress, then innovation and progress will be left behind. The fact is, people are lazy when there is no reason to do a job except that they're told to do it. The only way a communist economy could function at the level that our economy functions at now, is if workers were threatened with torture and death if they didn't do their jobs well enough. SOunds like a great future doesn't it.

And that concludes my rant.

I respect Che, not because he was a Communist, but because he fought for what he believed was right. He lived and died to help those in poverty and I don't see how anyone can really argue with that.

The whole Che as a commodity thing is horribly ironic, but that shouldn't reflect on the man himself, he didn't ask uninformed american teens to wear his face because it's cool!

As for Pinochet, he's a mass murderer who destroyed chiles economy, are you on crack or something?

I've never bought or worn a Che t

Bhahahahahaha you're so stupid asshole

allende is the best prime minister that I know...

as for Che Guevara, my only bandana that I has is one of him. He's definatly a Legend. FOr sure here it's overused. But he's definatly a hero. And By the way he's not a communist, he's more of a socialist, but he's mostly a revolutionary. Why do you think he left cuba to do other revolution? he was not a dictator,or a goverment, only a helper, he didn't wanted the power, he wanted the power to the populaiton. SO if anyone disagree, shut the fuck off and go read some non-procapitalist book or listen to true documentary not biased.

The only thing I hate about him, is that he surrended to the CIA when he got caught in bolivia, they jsut killed him after.... that's like definatly the only thing I don't like about him...

Ha i have a shirt with che guevaras face on it. under his face it says "i have no idea who this is". Except i know who he is now. Fuck

Communism is a name for a type of socialism. If you know so much, why don't you explain to us all how he is more of a socialist than a communist?

che%20guevara%20kakou%202.jpg

im cool now right?

this makes sense, and i def agree with the first part, and most of the commie stuff. but depending on the societey, communism or some republic based around it COULD potentially work, if no one was greedy.

this isnt the reason why i like che... he fought for what he beleived in, and led the cause well.

i knew i shouldn't have posted this thread. the answer i got were all expected, arguments about communism and how intelligent someone sounds on the net. i didn't want to discuss communism, i didn't want to know how many fuck arse kids wear hemp che t-shirts, i wanted to discuss the HUMAN BEING who was one of the most compassionate and passionate people of all time.

Thats not very liberal either (highlighted quote)

and Cliche guevara is a an against me! song.

Sure you could, but why would you spend the time to? And someone who cares about Wikipedia would just edit/delete it.

The more views a Wiki-definition gets, the more likely it's going to be correct (I bet that article gets quite a bit).

In addition, the article is a Featured Article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Featured_articles), meaning it has been identified as one of the best articles by the community. If you really think you can edit some falseness into the article, I'd dare you to try- we can see how long it would last.

And for politically charged articles like this, do you think your really going to get the whole story from one writer's view point? I challenge you to find a more nuetral, complete, and accurate summary of his life on the internet.

Socialist: People reprensenting other people in a society where everyone has the same right, services, etc etc. So it's basicaly a mix of Canada and Cuba...But it it's utopian goal, the democratic system would be totally perfect. There is no formal president, only ministers that are representing the people.

Communism: It's the abolition of all the capitalism, where every one works for the one goal of the society. The power is done by 1 boss who is the secretary of the state(in the communism utopia he listens to the people).

So basically this is the difference.

A lot of european country have been socialist, some coutry the socialist are a big party... AKA france.

And Ernesto "Che" Guevara was a doctor from a not really poor family...He went through the whole south america and helped the people in many country. Then he met Fidel and tought that freeing Cuba from the US would be a great Idea, cause Cuba at that time was the place of the party for Americans where they were playing drinkin, making illegal stuff...So he join the rev. and then I think you know the rest. I like the Che because he's legend cause he fought for the people and that,s the only reason why he did that...He never took the power of any country that he did a revolution.

So shut the fuck now read some book or something before to talk...

I don't feel like adding an insightful and intelligent response to this thread, but i would like to point out that probably one of the main reasons for the popularity of his face as a novelty icon is because of Maddox's "best site in the universe". Kinda funny

Fundamentally the goal of communism is the ultimate form of democracy, there is no single leader, every decision is exclusively in the interest of the "people" fundamentally. Ever gonna happen, fuck no

ok McCarthy, thats a pretty close-minded view dont you think? true communism, although relatively impossible to achieve, really is so beneficial to human kind. the idea is incredible, but because of human nature, it will never work. if we were robots it would be sweet. and he was socialist.

He's everywhere in Cuba, so automatically yes. I know a lot of arguments against this, I think they all fall apart with Che's last words: "know this, you are only killing a man."

people have been wearing che shirts, and shirts making fun of people wearing che shirts, since long before maddox. really.

before totally flipping out I am rather curious as to what makes you think Che was "compassionate".

u guys r too deep into this stuff, quoting his last words trying to see whos right about what he was, theres so many opinions ure never going to find an awnser and jst cuz u read it in a book doesnt make it right thats jst the authors opinion
