Charles Gagnier Video Run in Tignes Airwaves..

wow, that was an insane run. if that caribou trick becomes popular we are going to see a lot more knee injuries in park skiing. i like it tho because it looks cool and is very uniquely a skiing trick. not in any way similar to boarding or blading.

i feel like another "one footers are gay" or something comming on...

i personlly dont mind it, it was sick, the whole run, it blew me away, ahhhh!!! it was all so perfect!

Pipe was not so great neither, ok but not up to US standards...

So Arnaud did a good job indeed (remember Corey, Peter O were also in). Winning a comp is not about pure performance, in this case it is how you compare to others, given the specific conditions this specific day. Comparing this run to any other run someplace else another day is pretty much pointless imho ;)

cheers. -g- (and glad you enjoy our vids by the way)

where is that link? I'm way too lazy to try and read anything french right now, I'm assuming its on the skipass site.

on topic... charles is a roller blader like mad. If he does that fruitbootafanugen in the x games, tanner hall will kill him with a sharpend edge of an 07 prototype ARKilla

people are talkshit over charle cuz they know they can't do it

you can dislike it ..but stop saying that it gay or .....just shut up

man, he does a sick difficult original trick instead of doing some old 270 on, give him props, noone should be bashing this, its crazy.

you know, props to charles for doing that, but that is the stupidest thing i have ever seen... like a 1 footer, thats alright, not my personal favorite, but whatever, it takes balance to do a 1 foot and doesnt look THAT different... but that last trick makes skiing look worse than rollerblading on snow, that looks like figure skating on snow... that isnt a test of balance or style thats a test of how far your knee can twist around w/o blowing your knee. i totally agree with everybody saying that was hard, but figure skating is hard, doing a cab 1080 on skates just jumping on ice while going 20mph is super hard, but its still gay looking, and it would look worse with skis on, that was super tech and gay, my 2 cents tho, i like charles, he is a super chill guy, but he needs to quit doing that

i agree. that was ugly, and looks way too much liek ballet, and there is no way you can make that look good or smooth. stick to stuff that looks good.

switch elft misty 9 was sick as fuck tho.

im sick of people talking shit because we do grinds that are like rollerbladers. i mean sure style is good, but its not hard, specially on a box that is like 6 feet wide.

rail jams are just stupid now. they are just like spin to win big air comps, but you never leave the ground. its retaded. we need some more variety. and its not like gagnier doesnt have style either. the switch 450 on was SO smooth. stop talkin shit and try to progress the sport rather than being all about style.

and the guy that said tanner hall would freak if charles did another rollerblader grind, thats because tanner hall is an immature, arrogant, fag who happens to be one of the best skiers in the world. all he does is nollie lipslides, which i admit are tech, but he barely even nollies. he just like pops with his skis angled forward. he doesnt even flex them. there a vid of corey vanular doing one thats way better than any that t-hall has done.

thats the sickes run ever. that cab 10 was so ill. the grab was so tweaked. almost looked like a blunted nose. and his landings, so smooth. gagnier is the shit.

i completley 100% disagree with you in every way... there is a way to progress the sport without looking like figure skaters. i cant believe people like this, charles had a sick run except the broken grind and that ballerina stunt, o and i dont care about rollerskating grinds because i rollerskate, i think they are alright and skiing should develop our own grinds, but BALLET IS WORSE THAN ROLLERBLADING and everybody knows it, and i dont know what rail jams you have been to recently, but they dont suck, its not about spinning to win anymore, corey v at the gravity games last year, sick, the VT OPen was huge and sick, rails to riches was super tech and sick, big spins are getting taken over by switching directions and tech shit, within a year nobody will be 450ing onto thelast foot of a rail it will be double and triple reversing of rotation and crazy tech shit which is a good direction NOT LOOKING LIKE A BALLERINA AND HOPING NOT TO BLOW YOUR KNEE...

ok. so what other grinds do you suggest we develop, considering how similar our mode of transportation is to rollerblades, and having them be different enough from rollerblading to say we invented them.

and since you think ballet is bad, what is your opinion on butters? they ar pretty much ballet.

no, its not what grinds, its how you do those grinds. left foot, right foot, tail and nose press... thats IT! now, do those with switchups and spins on and get techy... spinning on then pressing hasnt been done much, double and triple reversing direction switchups, everybody watch the Rails to Riches video posted on here, and watch the guy in green siver, his name is ced... he does 270 on, revert 270 out of a huge down rail, then does 270 on bs switchup, switch out, i dont think anybody but a few on here know how hard that is... that is where skiing on rails needs to go

^ it's in the thread maker's post... just click the first video on skipass that looks like skiing, and find Charles Gagnier's name...

and mattwalker, you're wrong. That's boring. For right now, yes, super super good idea just for people to concentrate on reverts and such, and not mess with anything new, but what about in 5-6 years time, when everybody and their dog can do a stylie switch 270 on, backside amazingness, to ultraamazingness out? then skiing'll be boring. Differences from what's normal now, will guarantee interesting progression in the future, you can't deny that. Sure, it might look lame now, but eventually once enough of the right people are trying it, it'll be hella sick to see.

i mean no disrespect. I also love what you love, but claiming you dont want to see certain tricks is stupid. tricks are not going to be styley right away. And becuase a trick may not be associated with snowboarding as well does not make it uncool.

goddamn!!! charles was having fun and trying something new so shut the fuck up cosco and mattwalker..you guys are too serious about shit

ok now ive watched it couple times and i guess 450 disaster rainbow sumthin sw 10 sw 5 reg 9 sw 9 crazy roof thing 3 off. but somebody should set me straihgt i'm probably wrong.

switch 450 disaster, broken grind, sw 10, sw 5, cork 9, sw unnaty misty 9, then weird thing to 360 off roof

switch 450 disaster on a flat-down

"broken" grind (back ski is tilted so its on the front edge only) on rainbow rail to switch

switch 10 true tail

switch 5 safety

cork 9 true tail

switch leftside misty(?) 9

"caribou" slide (like a 50-50, but he brings his left leg around behind the right leg so his feet are pointing in opposite directions) on a 3 ft. wide box to 360 out

PLEASE don't turn this into another thread about where skiing "should" go, or the "true" and "right" definitions of progress. Let chuck do his thing and you do whatever you want. Its all skiing.

i think you guys got me wrong here, i am not against ALL new ways of sliding, i bet there are some crazy things that would look so sick that havent been thought of yet... i didnt really like 1 footers, but i thought they could be super sick and look really tech if done right, but you CANT make that ballerina move look good ever, and the day where it doesnt matter how you look in the air or on a rail enters skiing i am quitting, if somebody comes along here and invents some crazy new way of grinding that doesnt look like a flamingo pooping thats one thing, but what charles did on that box is just stupid and he looked like a flamingo pooping, and to the person who said that in 5 or 6 years switching directions and shit will become too normal, thats not true either, think about all the shit you could do on that VT Open setup. people were hardly spinning on last year, there is SO much left to do and then you take it to bigger rails... and even then you havent entered the realm of tricking on urbans... instead of inventing new ways to slide flat rails, we should be thinking about sliding big rails with presses and techer stuff

I don't even give a shit that it looked lame, there shouldn't be a box on a slopestyle course anyway. Act like the entire rest of his run was beatable by anyone in the sport right now. He's fucking amazing, and that last grind was nuts-hard, plus it looked hilarious. He just spent the entire run proving that his shit looks nice, and then threw something that I highly doubt anyone else is even dreaming of throwing. Also - I think that Tanner is fucked for the Open and X. And I was really rooting for a comeback.

ok so was that last thing a joke or not? if not.. i duno if im a fan of bringin ballet back into freeskiing

its actaully snow i think.

and walker, i agree with your final post.

it did lookugly. but if he is haivg fun he is having fun

i like that stuff to. in fact ced was at keystone this weekend and he killed it. i know exactly how hard it is, and ive been working on that stuff too, but i dont think skiing NEEDS to go anywhere. i just want variety. i agree with pretty buch everything you said and i know what your getting at. reversing directions is definately way hard.

what do you think about 5050s or whatever you wanna call it? like DC does on the rainbow rail in forward.

I am into progression and creativity but that guys style is dispictable and his tricks are bizzar and ugly, nice run though.
