why you be hatin on puppies, puppies never hurt you

sweet stuff? what do you mean?

i take a boot bag that has my boots, and i throw gloves and hats in the storage, maybe a pair of snowpants

spending money: I think ATM card is the only way to go. last year, my friend, before he went, got 300 cdn and that was about perfect. he spent without thinking really though...spending easily.

Be prepared for all weather basically - today its ~hot~ up there, and has been for a while. Hiting 70 degrees is common, and often hotter, but the last day the glacier was open last year - foot of fresh. Expect rain, snow and sun, but hope that you just get the sun.

Bring a back pack to cary your gear to the snow (3 lifts and one bus ride at Blackcomb) so you can ride the chairs just wearing your ski pants, a wife beater shirt and your flip flops. It gets way hot coming down at the end of the day, and you'll be happy that you can carry your gear instead of wearing it.

yeah man that's what I'm wondering, how the fuck am I supposed to pack all this stuff into few enough bags that I can actually carry the damn things? It's not that I don't appreciate the advice on what to bring, it's just that I don't know how the hell I can pack it all.

a few things i forgot

HOODIES since you pretty much never wear a coat to the glacier (when it's nice) you still always wear a hoodie because it can get cold on the way up

backpack to take up to glacier with you every day

do you mean a big enough bag for the trip or for glacier daily?

HIGH NORTH SESSION 2!

you're welcome guys

when i went for my first time last year, i would have killed for someone to do this for me

well, about the gear.

like i said, this is what I take:

Carry-on backpack that i also use for on the mountain...it's a northface atlantis, mid-sized, and i carry (just a pack...no frame...not a backpacking backpck): on the plane i have my music, maybe some paper, whatever...

on the wayhome (bring a folder) i put my stickers and stuff in it

up mountain every day i bring my music, some different layers, gloves, helmet, sunscreen, goggles with both lenses, sunglasses, water bottle

another thing to bring if camp doesnt give one: water bottle

line boot bag backpack: my boots with liners, i might put my boot dryers or socks right in the boots for flight - use all available space

in cargo i'll put some gloves and hats, maybe a pair of snowpants. this is pretty well padded in the middle, so a good place for goggles/glasses (if no, put in carry on bag)

line ski bag: skis with poles (1 or 2 pair of each) and since it's a soft bag, i pad it with sweatshirts, which is good, because they take up a lot of room in my bag

spy bigass wheeled cargo bag:

helmet? i don't know wher this will go. put goggles in it, it'll prtect them!

clothes

shorts

pants

shoes

any other snow gear

hoodie

razor

toiletries

anything else i take. pack tight, but leave room for new hoodies or wahtever- or just layer a lot on the way home

remember- who knows what you could win/end up bringing home!

don't most air flights just take 2 bags plus 1 carry on? they charge a lot extra for more..call your airflight and see

when i flew out to aspen it was $45 extra for another bag, but they count the skis and boots as one.

- Julian

if your ski bag is under 6 feet you're good

and you get 3 bags to check

this was for...i think ...continental last year, i think it was them.

i need to look into it for whoever i'm flying with this year (my mom handled that)

Brody

take it from an experienced traveller. Buy a good sized hockey bag on wheels, throw everything you could possibly imagine in it. Step two, buy a ski bag on wheels that can hold at least 3 pairs. Put two in, and stuff the rest with anything you could not fit in your hockey bag. Boots fit perfectly into the hockey bag if you pack them first. Most importantly, when you travel around the globe like this, everybody knows that you are a true canadian dirtbag who likes to play puck, instead of some wuss american with a line bootbag who needs these ski brand names so people will think he is sponsored. Take that, booyah!

the owl of minerva only flies at dusk

....OR because he gets them for free, possibly because a sponsor.....

you called yourself and all other Canadians dirtbags? hm....uh..okay.

anyways...everyone ELSE has been greatful...

Brody

i wont drop out of high school for skiing, mom

hmm yeah totally sunscreen and chapstick without a doubt! as much money as you possibly can bring, the villiage has sooo much shit you can buy

bathing suit..if you didn't say it

and again you have to bring stuff for warm weather and stuff for cold weather, you really need both

helment - you neeeed one for the glacier

and be prepared to have the freaking best time ever

Helmets?

Yeah - if you are hitting any tables, difficult rails or difficult spines in the camp terrain, you *must* wear a helmet. The camp coaches and patrol will mostly likely both be enforcing it.

It might seem like a drag, but its all about the insurance companies, who frankly, rule the world. If the helmet rule wasn't there, camps and Whistler Blackcomb would either A) not be able to get insurance, and therfore NO PARK AT ALL, or B) Premiums would go way up, and you would be paying way more to play.

Besides, its just smart to wear a helmet, unless you like intercranial bleeding.

anddd im getting pysched again, god damn it two weeks away

Huh?

3 pair goggles

2 pair poles

damn, that's too many shoes. oh well.

long sleeve tee shirts: remember! you'll wear on glacier

Brody

i wont drop out of high school for skiing, mom

Yeah man,

It was last year too, but that was the first season for the policy, so it was a bit loose with enforcement. So that ~doesn't~ mean that you have to wear the lid 24-7, but it does mean that if you are rocking the hard stuff, you do.

hey hey hey, what's the 'tool'...and i'm buying a coat when i get up there cuz i got new pants and i couldnt' find anything i liked here, but i'm going to take my old pair of pants andm y old coat too

Skifree737:

why you be hatin on puppies, puppies never hurt you

360spins: thanks. i'll take the helmet up with me everyday for sure...even though i did

i just carry a super small multitool in my pocket (if youo're rocking the line bindings, they always break... so i'm not even using them at camp)

Brody

i wont drop out of high school for skiing, mom

clothing i have right now:

10 tshirts

4 pair pants

4 pair shorts

4 long sleeve t's

2 base layers that i can wear as long sleeve

8 hoodies...i'm gonna have to rid myself of some of them

Brody

i wont drop out of high school for skiing, mom

because the weather can be ANYTHING at ANY time

so you're pretty much packing for 16 days- 8 days hot, 8 days cold ( in my case- 8 day camp)

Brody

i wont drop out of high school for skiing, mom

don't they have a washer and dryer? im a girl and im not even that much of a pack rat.. ;-) jk its aight how are you gonna fit all that? geeez

Just a word about your ski bag-

I traveled a bunch this year, some airline associates who check in your bags for you will charge you extra if you have more than 1 pair of skis...if you stuff clothes in your ski pair you can just say you have 1, but if they check you might get charge up to $75 for an extra pair of skis..but it depends on who checks your bags in..

caught a rush on the floor from the life in my veins

i calleed my airline, united

normally you're allowed to have 2 bags checked

but if you have a ski and a boot bag, they count as one bag (separate bags though) and my cargo bag counts as another bag, the second, plus my carry on, so it's cool.

i wont drop out of high school for skiing, mom
