California Storm

10 feet predicted for my resort. I have a feeling that this will be the first good storm, that actually lives up to or comes very close to the predicted amount.

Gave my snow blower the full tune up today. I'm ready for anthing mother nature can bring! Cant wait for a few more feet of base to bring lots of bigger terrain enough snow to ride.

I wonder if the keyhole slt will open up at alpine... Or has it already? It's been a little while since I was there last... Anyway, this will definitely build up the base, and it'll give jonahs the snow he wants to make the jump line bigger and longer.

RAINFALL TOTALS

BY NEXT SATURDAY COULD REACH 3 TO 6 INCHES IN THE VALLEY WITH 5 TO

10 INCHES OF RAIN FOR THE FOOTHILLS AND WESTERN SLOPES...WITH THE

HIGHER TOTALS EXPECTED FOR SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST FACING SLOPES.

FURTHER NORTH 10 TO 15 INCHES OF RAINFALL MAY FALL OVER SOUTH TO

SOUTHWEST FACING SLOPES AROUND THE FEATHER RIVER CANYON AND OVER

PORTIONS OF WESTERN SHASTA COUNTY. SIGNIFICANT SNOW IS LIKELY IN

THE MOUNTAINS WITH SEVERAL FEET OF SNOW AROUND THE 5000 FOOT

ELEVATION...AND 10 FEET OR MORE OVER THE HIGHER SIERRA NEVADA BY

NEXT SATURDAY.

Haha. While I think Cali doesn't get enough credit on here and in the ski world in general, I'm pretty glad because it just leaves more fresh for me.

Just like every other storm we have had this season, this one dies off and we don't even get half of the amount that was predicted. God damn weather forecast.

Shhhhh, I'm using negativity to make Mother Nature prove my plan wrong, because everytime I hyped up a big storm, she proved me wrong and brought less snow. It's all about the reverse psychology. I could be right too. Last storm they predicted two feet. I told my friends that we will get 5-8 inches and what do you know, we got six inches.

Okay, since I've been right with my predictions this year, I'm calling it now, March is going to be fucking insane. March is the snowiest month in the Sierras and the last snowy March I can remember was at least four to five years ago. Mother Nature owes us a bangin' March, and this is the one. Anyone else have any semi long-term predictions?

Yep, now the storm is shitting all over my mountain. Wednesday night is supposed to be the heaviest snowfall at my place.

hell yea, the bay is going insane. torrential downpours happening all over, then it'll ease off for a bit, but it's been pouring most of the day. there were parts of our school blocked off with caution tape, there was so much flooding in the outdoors areas.

word bro. I'd be down to stay until 4 each day and get all my finals done in two days, so I could ditch school on thursday and friday...

[not gonna happen]

Went out and hit the slopes at Mammoth today for a little pow. Was heading up Chair 22 and saw someone on next years Sir Francis Bacons. I figured it was someone that either was sponsored by line, work's for line or is friends with any of those two. Went on my facebook and saw the line skis fan page posted a pic of Eric Pollard shredding the pow on the Mammoth home page. He had a helmet cam on so hopefully there will maybe some footy showing up sometime soon. Also, wish I went up the lift just a minute later, so I could see the serious slaying of pow.

Here is a screen shot of Mammoth's homepage

Yep, I'm leaving my place at 6:15 in the morning. If you have to drive all the way from Sac, have fun on I-80. You have a longer drive too. Shouldn't take me more than 1:45, if that.

Well, no traffic, I've gotten from Northstar to Sac in 53 minutes. But I'll be in Truckee on Friday night, so I have about a 10 minute drive.

What the fuck? How fast were you driving? God damn that's close. I'm 1:05 with clear roads.

Looks like the storm is coming in later so it will snow all night Friday and a little into the morning on Saturday. That means I'll have fresh tracks ALL day Saturday, no tracks from Friday left hanging around.

You guys are making me feel bad about myself... I'm all the way in the east bay. 2:30 to trucker with clear, dry roads, no cops, and my dad going 80 most of the way. I'm leaving Saturday morning at 6:00... If my mom cooperates by waking up early enough. You guys have it so nice, living closer to them thar hills...

Haha, damn that blows. It will be 1:45ish with snow on the road though. We're leaving at 6:00 Saturday morning too. I'll be up there at 7:45, have all my gear on by 8:00, grab my free lift ticket while my brother saves our spot for first chair, and then he will go get his free ticket as I wait an hour for first chair. I plan on skiing first chair to last chair non-stop. I'm putting my lunch in my jacket and eating on the chair (thank god my Saga has so many pockets!). I must admit, Sierra Summit is known as shitty, but when you know where to go, it's got some of the greatest pow I've ever skied and there are no liftlines and I will ski fresh all day. Take that Tahoe.

this afternoon, i cleared the 2.5 feet of snow that had accrued on top of the hot tub in the back yard at the Tahoe Donner Palace as I'm going to call it, so i could take a dip. That was at about 2pm after skiing. I took a nap for a bit after that, only to wake up to another 14" on top it. It's now 5am, and there's another 6" on top of that there.

So insane.

Today will be the best day all week! Sucks for who ever can only come on a weekend, its gonna be so packed with people. I'm off to go jump into neck deep snow!

That's one of the great benefits of Sierra Summit. No one knows of my stash, and I can ski fresh all day on the busiest weekends of the year. Have fun Tahoe people.

Haha, well the Northstar Good Day Report video said, "You should stay on trail and stay out of the trees."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA

Hahaha. I bet a place like Northstar is shit on a pow day, just because you'll get so many people. Squaw would be sick as fuck, but I'm sure it gets tracked out really quick. I'm sure you have some stashes at Northstar though. Lookout Mountain would actually be somewhat dope. I bet the trees there are pretty fun.
