I think the deficit really isn't that big a deal, we've been in debt since 1777. Now to make a statement backing up Bush, He faced a terrorism and war, all that surplus and more had to go into fighting this new threat. Whether you support Iraq or not ... the effects of 9/11 alone and then having to go into Afghanistan (which I think most people agree with), quickly wiped out the surplus.

Now to take a shot at Clinton. The surplus was a result of over-taxing the people, as every surplus is.

The election is over, and despite spending more money than Bush and waging the most expensive campiagn ever, Kerry lost. Keep in mind that BUSH GOT THE MOST VOTES OF ANY PRESIDENT, EVER, IN THE HISTORY OF THE USA.

i dont think the country would have changed very much either way, like on an episode of futurama how the 2 canditates had the smae sorta names, just with them in a diff order, and they both had nearly exactly the same policies, i dont no if any of u have seen it, but i think its kinda like that, just not as bad, but then again im an aussie so i dont no y im debating this

See, global warming is a proven fact, but the cause of it isn't. We've been on a rise in temperature for over 50,000 years. This is one of the more pronounced high-temperature points in earth's history, but it has happened before, without mankind's presence... it's fairly difficult to prove conclusively just how much damage we've been doing (although it seems likely that we've done a fair amount).

You appearently know nothing of economics if you think the deficit is not a problem.

Do you know why the US dollar is worth well... a US dollar? It is do to America's 'power backing'. See most country's currency is backed by precious metals such as gold and silver. This is owned by the goverment and makes their money worth what it is. Eventually if the deficit grows too mush the US 'power backing' will decrease and could cause massive inflation. Apparently Bush doesn't see a need to stop spending money.

Also the over 7 trillion (yes thats a 7 with 12 zeros) dollar deficit was not caused by the the military police action in Iraq. According to the government the estimated cost is only at 120 billion. The overwhelming majority came from Bush's tax cuts. Please check your facts before you start posting crap.

Tell me something, does your family operate with a massive debt? That would sure suck if they did. Why would we run the country with a humongous debt?

maybe I don't understand economics ... cause to me if one cut tax rates, then it would just decrease the amount of money coming in. Rather than costing money. I suppose you could say that the decrease in taxes led to a lack of money we could put into the military expenses we needed ... but then again that would come full circle back to the problem of military spending. And if Bush hadn't given his tax cuts, then the already struggling economy would've taken bigger hits as consumer spending decreased. Then people would be complaining even more about the economy.

On the comment I made about the defecit. We will NEVER, EVER absolve the defecit. We haven't been able to for the past 230+ years, why do you think it would happen now? All I'm saying is that a country's defecit is not as big a deal as some think.

No, only one member of my immediate family has ever experience debt. Ironically, she had to claim bankruptcy and her and her husband milked unemployment and welfare for years ... adding to the costs the government suffers. That just kinda popped into my head when you compared personal debt and national debt, sorry bout the tangent.
