KYOTO: not signing it means bush doesn't give a shit about global warming (just like the russians and chinese), which means:

Kyoto is about economics and development, it hinders us so third world nations get a free ride on industralization. It would be putting unessicary restrictions on the US while allowing third world nations to have an easier time getting industry. Its not just an enviromental issue.

Also, who gives a fuck who the PM of Canada is, its not like it will affect the world in any way

wow. just wow. this might be the worst thread i have ever read. chalk full of idocy. thank goodness bigj decided to bring some sembalance of rational thought to the issue. see, the problem is, that at 15 years old, you simply cannot have a grasp on all the factors that go into somthing like the decision to drill anwr, the kyoto accord, or any other real foreign policy decision. theres two schools of thought in the world, as you can read in any political science text. theres the idealist view, and the realist view. the idealist view is nice, but nieve at best. its also the view espoused by most 13-21 year olds. that explains the prevailing political thought on this site.

All I have herd is just how evil oil drilling in a wilderness is and how evil Bush. Nothing more. If you want to try and consider yourself a knowledgeable person, I suggest you get arguments that have some kind or reasonable foundation. Being against this political action is fine, but for god’s sake, think through the situation first.

The Kyoto Protocol is a joke. It hasn't done crap for our environment nor will it ever do anything for our environment. Signing a treaty doesn't save the world, thinking it does is ignorant. But politicians know they are many ignorant morons out there so they figured they would sign it and make themselves look nice and pretty in the eyes of ignorant fools.

i just want to give props to the 15 year old standing up against this constant barrage. welcome to life man. and for everyone who automatically relates any liberal/left wing/someone who gives 2 cents about the environment as a hippy, thanks for the name calling. its good to see those that are so informed about "the issues" call other people names to get their arguement across. And you really can't call these people as "leaderless with no agenda," just look at the margin of victory as demonstrated by our current pres.

even if levi is an idealist nbot drilling in anwar is just one step closer to not harming our environment as much. there is an alternate to drilling for more oil. i know people have said this but i really think it would be in our best interest to use alternate sources of energy more such as wind power. i know it would be more expensive but i think when our world isnt completely destroyed it will be worth it. and stuart is right we arnt the only country contributing CO2 t the atmosphere but does that give us the right to put even more in the atmosphere. and we should set an example and produce as little as we can

Global warming was created by cows and termites who produce far more carbon dioxide than cars ever will. I read something in biology last year ago and it said that termites acount for (If I remember correctly) one third of the co2 produced, cows another 15 (or 25%?) and cars and pollution by factories and other human contributions just 6%. So if you want to stop global warming, call the exterminator or become a vegetarian.

Its all a cycle. I have said this before and I will say it again.

Back in prehistoric times temperatures were sweltering. It was hotter than hell and the Pacific Ring of Fire (massive chain of volcanoes) was erupting nearly daily. One volcanic eruption spits out a huge load of pollution, more than one could ever imagine. Then we moved into the ice age where glaciers went almost as south as Florida and they began to recede before modern man even became a recognizable presence in North America. I truly believe the world just cylces. Its the most common logic. Pollution during the ice age was non-existent with the exception of natural pollution and the glaciers receded. It should be common logic if you ask me.
