Even if global warming isn't really happening, even if it's all just a natural cycle, and even if drilling for oil everywhere doesn't harm the environment, is it really worth taking the risk of someday destroying all living things on earth? Is it worth screwing up the environment for future generations?

I think in this situation it's better to be safe than sorry. I don't think it's wise to fuck with the fragile environment which keeps us all alive. I hope to god that everything's fine and we're all just wasting our breath. I don't want my kids or grandkids to grow up living underground wearing gas masks struggling to stay alive just so we can live our pathetic selfish "comfortable" "important" little lives.

though i understand the oppresive energy concerns, rather then continue to chase an increasingly expensive fuel that will be hard to extract and environmentally detrimental, why not focus those BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of dollars in alternate energy sources? oh wait, that substitution effect reminds of of marijuana, cotton and tabacco

i'm interested in what will happen between china, taiwan, and the usa in the next few years.

i know that this is a natural cycle global warming and then ice ages but we are speeding this procceses up far to quickly and as i read through these posts i realized that 90% of the people that supported me have been canadian i also know that bush isnt the creator of global warming but he doesn't has done nothing to help the enviornment

the truth is no one really knows how much of the present warming trend might be a natural occurance, and no one knows how much of the present warming trend might be man made.

we also have no way of defining a so called 'natural cycle' to ice ages and stuff like that, let alone proof that there even is a pattern to the weather over long periods

another potential cause of it being warmer may be related to (surprise) the sun, the source of virtually all energy on earth, being warmer

 
the only problem isnt the "cute little animals", it is we need to concerve our nonrenewable energy sources. rather than going and drilling in anwar now we should wait untill it is absolutely necessary to go there because there isnt an endless amount of oil in the world. think about it what if we used up all of our oil right now and had no more left in the world. there would be a lot of problems.

 
^the gas that will be drilling in the ANWR will also be rationed as military surplus fuel. Makes you think doesnt it.

this is sort of random but ive heard some people talk about this recently here. for those of you that say global warming isnt happening, haver you ever seen a map of average temperatures around the world over time. my biology teacher showed one to our class at the begining of the year and global warming is happening
