Burton skis

They are also snowbaord, snowshoe, hiking boot, random shit makers.

Face it. Burton would be no different than any other company in skiing today. Except that they have some pretty innovative technology on their boards, and it would force ski companies to adapt and create new ideas to revive and rejuvenate the ski market.

Ohhhhh, we have Armada, wonderful, they aren't THAT much different than you're average ski in the end. Skiing needs innovative technology and ideas.

No, it is not seperate. Analog is a seperate company, Anon is a seperate company. Ronin is just a line in Burton outerwear. Audex is also a line. Just like the 1080 is now a line of skis from Salomon as is the X Wing series.

Yes Ronin has different designs and features, so does the AK clothing. Check www.burton.com to see for your self. Red, Gravis, Analog and Anon are all seperate companies. Everything else is Burton.

in my opinion burton would have a huge "positive" impact on the skiing world if u consider skiing going mainstream. i don't know about you but i personally like being one of the few freeskiers in the t'rain park. sure i get some glares from some retarded ass boarders who think they're the shit. but most of my friends are boarders so i'm fine with boarding. i just find that burton would bring innovation to freesking but it would also make everyone think who changed from skiing to boarding that skiing is "cool" again. and it's obviously just a ploy to make more money, like most companies like armada and line and what not. but we can just live in the lie that those companies are dedicated to skiing for a bit, can't we?

i dont see whats wrong with it. They make nice clothes and good snowboards, whats wrong with them making skis especially if they turn out to be good ones?

When it happens they won't put the burton name on them, they will use another name like red. It will happen and it probably will happen soon.

it won't hurt skiing or snowboarding it will just give everyone in this forum another product to bash and praise like you all do on everything else.

the greatest thing about skiing is that not everyone does it and twintippers are a rare sight and are all different. As much as i want the sport to grow, I would really hate to see every single person on the mountain skiing on twintips...

o tyson...theres nothing else to do when are hills are covered with a sheet of mud. but i agree it won't hurt the industry, i'm just not likin the idea, maybe if it was another company who hasn't bashed skiing for the past 10 years.

but everyone can't deny, if they are good skis we will buy them. no doubt about it. we might not like the idea of it (like he said tho, they probably won't say burton) but they will sell

ok the fact remains they are primarily ski companies. burton making a ski is in a position to dominate our market. and are you seriously downplaying armada? you are on fucking newschoolers. show some respect for one of our greatest companies. armada created so many innovative and sick ass skis. the arg is an idea k2 wish they had. k2 tried, but armada went the whole distance in the idea. changing the entire shape is a huge advancement. armada isnt that innovative? on line's carbon fiber stringers...several years ago. common.

ok i hate burton not because they are snowboard but because they have shitty mounts on their snowboards, that aside if they make skis thatd be cool if they were good and does anyone know where this rumor came from cuz it could just be fake and Lib Tech a big skate/snowboard company made skis why not burton skiing is becoming more and more like snowboards we thrash the park like they started but now we are better

Your bias clouds your judgement about Armada. While they make sick product, it is by no means revolutionary. The ARG resembles the Spatula in many ways (rocker, dimentions), and the Spatula has been out for several years. The idea of a floppy buttery park ski like the THall has been out since the creation of the Fujative. The changing of cores and different stringers has been out for several years now as well, appearing in the 1260 from Line at least 3 years ago. Armada may make great skis, but they are not revolutionary.

If you want to talk revolutionary, look at the Magnetraction skis being put out by Lib-Tech, a snowboard company. Do you see this tech anywhere else in the industry? No. If it is as good as some of the reports I have heard, then other companies will copy it in the future.

Much like when Rossi bought Look and went into the binding market, if Burton enters the ski arena they will probably buy a ski company to have some idea of what they are doing. This would be no different.

At the top levels, the massive "ski" companies do not care about skiing, they care about money. This same mentality is probably the case at Burton. I find it rediculous that many otherwise sane people on this site defend companies that do not care about them, but then turn around and find it abhorrent to have one more company that does not care about them in the market. If you will not change your opinion in the face of new information or a correct and coherent argument, you are a fool.

burton isnt even a very good snowboard company, they straight up lied about havin the lighest board on the market. elan makes the lightest board and they have for a while

Ill believe it when I see it and didnt they bash skiing a while ago oh well whatever who cares I bet no one will really buy them anyways

you were going fine until you ended insulting me, which was completely unnecessary. and i didnt say armada had the carbon fiber stringer, i said it was line.

now that thats out of the way, i think its important for you to realize how new the freeskiing industry is. 1080's hit in '99. snowboarding has a good decade on us. We havent had the time to do that research, since we ARE years behind. look at the improvements and changes our industry HAS made- from 1080 to ARG or Fujative. As an industry, we're progressing.

Lets see how the Lib Tech Magnetraction works out. They've been making snowboards for quite some time, hence more time to develop this technology. we all get it, snowboard companies have these cool technological ideas. well how about you give us time, and look at what we HAVE done and are doing.

This thread is talking about Burton making skis. not buying another exisiting ski company. Our smaller companies do care. They have reps on this site, they are out at your local mt., they send you free shit if you ask nicely or sometimes even just do it randomly.

you're so pessimistic and negative. i swear, get therapy. ulcers will develop.

omg did you not just see in his previous post that he said that he used to have anon's but he went back to oakley's to support skiing. HOLY FUCK you're an incomprehensive dickhead

shane

I say keep an open mind. Yes, it could hurt skiing by taking buisiness from companies like armada and line, but its a huge compliment to freeskiing. Even the notion of burton to make skis is a sign that freeskiing has grown so big, especially with burtons history. Burton sees that the boarders are sitting at the top of the park and the skiers are killing it. They probally said "we could make a lot of money in freeskiing", and not "freeskings dope" but I wouldnt hate a bigger selection of quality skis.

Burton skis would be sick

im a big skier

and all there boards are sweet

and there clothes are sweet

y not

theres nothing bad about it

maybe a few gays on trays will become dicks on sticks

so wat

Care to explain why you don't want people skiing twin-tips?

Is it because you are freeskiing to be cool? Or because you enjoy it?

I apoligize for insulting you, but this is what I was refering to. Simple obstinace does noone any good. It is ridiculous to argue an opinion when the facts point in the other direction.

i said line started it.

and im argueing something on a message board. im taking a side in a debate. i could very well say what you said above to you. so right back at you. its riduclous to argue an opinion when the facts point against you.

Yeah, I was talking about some people's arguments that skis should stay with the companies that were ariginally ski companies.

i think burton would prob make an ok ski but i think that people woudnt switch over as much becuase once they tried it and realized that they cant just ride onto a rail unlike snowboarding many people would drop it casue they sucked at first

who cares if they bashed skiing for 10 years, they realized they were idiots. i have never seen any of these "skiing sucks, you should snowboard" articles, but thats probably cause i havent been reading mags. anyways, for all you folks who say they're just in it for the money, what do you think the other bigass companies are in it for?

well if they are planning something for next year then they'll have to have something set up in the trade expo this month. so when my boss gets back from it. i'll ask her if its really true

who cares about if burton makes skis...then it would just be another ski company. take anon, they were a burton company, then they sponsord tj schiller and now there all that.

And in three years watch Burton making the sickest skis out there. Then I will bump this thread and laugh at all of you. IF you seriously hate it so much, don't buy them if/when they come out, just that easy. If it is really a bad idea, than it will fail. Easy enough the figure out really...

Does anyone know about that Volant Spatula? McConkey made it, so to that comment about K2 "wishing they had that idea", they did, and so did most people in the ski industry. Armada made a newer, in my opinion "better" version of the old Spatula design(same with Praxis now, and DP before them) and K2 went similar, but not the same.

The ARG is a dope ski, but as much as I love Armada, they didn't create it at all, and they know that too. They give lots of credit to McConkey for his great design.

i think that it would be good we all cant say taht we dont like burton i no this is a random statistic but i would be willing to bet that at lest 40% of the members ont his site rock some sort of burton gear. they would definatly bring something new to the table binding wise for better or for worse. if its not a good product thne dont buy it who cares. Burton is such a big company also that it will bring more of the spotlight to sport of freesking perhaps half pipe in the olympics?

i cant remember if this was true, and corred tme if i am wrong but didn't Burton sort of try to get into skiing with the split board. But it failed didn't it? i am sure this is just antoher try at thier ultimate goal. to own snowsports.
