Bruce Oldham

Not good feelings about him.

I saw him in the hotel at 7 am when I was in Whistler a month ago. I said "Good morning Bruce" He said good morning back. Then I asked how he was doing and he muttered something I didn't really hear and looked away into a dark empty office room window like he didn't want anything to do with me. He definitely wasn't the usual high energy excited person that morning. Either he's not a morning person, didn't have his coffee yet, or really didn't care to talk to common folk like me.

However he was a complete different person a few months ago when I messaged him on Ig asking questions about his online courses.
 
his insta reels are so cringe and makes me want to quit skiing every time I get one of them in my feed, also selling online courses on how to get sponsored to kids it’s kinda meh.

I miss when he actually posted entertaining skiing on his insta, now it all just feels like ads and reposts of his clips to tiktok music
 
When I met him at whistler, he was really chill and nice tbh. Probably just not a morning person, but he also wasn’t anything like the hyperactive personality he portrays on insta.

Man is fabricating an online persona. Maybe it's just all tiktok skier content being cringe af too. As much as I rip on "ski influencers", TBlake is doing it right. Authentic vids and vibes, not trying to be someone he isn't.

His YouTube videos are super helpful. His tiktoks and reels can kinda get annoying but I get he’s just trying to blow up to the non skiers and get that bag. Also prolly why he’s doing his online course thing. But he follows me on tiktok and ig so that’s cool
 
I think he actually is a positive influence and probably does help kids with his online academy. If he could tone down the crazy outfits and style, etc, I think he would get a lot more traction. He puts off a good vibe and he is talented but he is just so out there with his stuff lately. Also this is first time I’m seeing the lifty hiton TikTok. That’s not too great tbh..
 
I signed up for his course, now i can kfed, wear baggy clothes, get my ears pierced and yell as loud as i can in all my tiktoks
 
Sums up my thoughts as well…trying to blow up to non skiers comes at the cost of getting shit on by actual skiers. Appreciate what he’s trying to do at the end of the day but the execution annoys me sometimes

I live in Ontario like 6 hours away from his local and a couple dudes from my hometown went down there and they said hes a super sick guy so im sure hes chill in person

Update, downloaded tiktok to find his gram, clicked the link, user not found. I don’t think he likes that I ski w miss Mayapapaya on the weekends
 
From my understanding, Bruce didn’t get into park skiing until he was 16 and it seems like he’s currently aware that he won’t be getting X Games invites or RedBull money for a while. His progression is consistent but he probably knows he needs a year or two before he can live off skiing.

My guess is that he’s trying to get some internet side hussles going so he can fund his career. His parents are rich and he’s pretty cringe but I can respect the grind.

gonna try to give a balanced opinion on this one. feels kinda weird to write a paragraph about someone like this, but I guess he's some sort of public figure these days.

I don't know the guy personally but I got friends who know him, and they tend to speak positively about him as a person, online persona aside. It seems like he works really hard. I could be wrong but I don't think he's on a team. Pretty sure he's self-funded, which you gotta respect. He's also doing trick tutorials for the kids and trying to inspire them. However, I guess my main issue would be that he's influencing kids to take the social media route that he took, and post tiktoks about hitting on lifties or whatever he posts these days. At the end of the day, I'd rather make videos for a smaller audience of skiers that appreciates the content for what it is rather than produce tiktoks for a much much wider audience of normies, so to speak, who are only there for the spectacle.

At the end of the day, we have different opinions about how skiing should be represented, but we can agree to disagree, I think.

Yeah I’ve gotta agree it’s pretty impressive to fund a world cup season with Smith and Virtika being your only sponsors
 
Bruce is cringe but a sick skier. He needs to learn to moderate himself a bit better and not post everything that comes to his mind, and hopefully get a decent outerwear sponsor so we aren't forced to look at Virtika gear to watch him.

He'd be a lot better off if he linked up with a filmer/editor that can make him a bit more palatable to skiers too.

I agree, his youtube content is mostly cringe free. I don’t watch most of Bruce’s instagram content but I’ve got notifications turned on for his youtube.
