Everyone is doubting the slide......just wait you guys will be praising us when you see it in action

'Tanners going to win for sure, hes wearing bib number 420!'

well we wanting it to be flush but it wont go in and sink into the metal... what do you suggest doing?

using a bigger drill bit to make the hole in the metal almost as big as the screw head, yet leaving the wood underneith untouched?

i was thinking about that when i saw the pictures actually loaded but we got it done so we dont wanna fuck with it.

i hope thats not aluminum as coping cause if it is plan on your skiis just stopping when you try and slide , also the joint of the metal will catch or put some nice gouges in your skiis and finally how are you suppose to spin while on the box with the coping sticking up a 1/4 inch

^WOMEN... see it is aluminum but we have sex wax to put on, problem solved.

second where each piece meets we have already taken 2 hours to make them work. we have applied pressure as if we were sliding and yes at first you catch but we made it now so that it wont catch. by bending the folowwing piece down it stops it from coming up.

and its 12' long we dont need to spin on it, ever heard of a switch up. you pick up ur fucking skis and skin, but i wouldnt expect a wonman to have that kind of balance and power. so once i see your box let me know whats up.

if the coping doesnt work then we make soething new on the sides.

if we wanna spin we get the dremmel out and grind it down. hmmm so complicated isnt it.

^ya we figured it wont matter, but i got to thinking if you do somehow fall off and hit the side of the box it will be disasterous. wither ur clothes or face or skin is getting ripped and fucked up

Yea i never thought about falling and hitting the screws, but they really arent that far out and if anything we will hit the coping and bounce hopefully

i'm doubting the aluminium a little bit, but i'll bite my tounge until i see it in action.

why don't you like spot weld the aluminum together, and then dremel it down? if you've got access to an aluminum welder that is. (what is that, MIG welding, or TIG? something like that)

^why do you think the aluminum wont work? just curious.

hmm maybe a lil solder will help to keep it in place if it is not working, but it was not working at first when we slid the ski over with mass pressure. but we rigged each panel so that the first rod was a tad higher than the next and so on. so when pressure is applied to that first once it sinks down and fits perfectly with the next. im sure it wont hold for the whole summer but we are always up for new ideas.

where we got these aluminum coping sides where were a bunch of differnt sized metal dowel rods. we could estentially get a really small diameter dowl rod and somehow weld it to the inner edge of the coping. making it rounded instead of just a 1/16" step up onto the coping from the top sheet. it would be some tedious work though and we jsut wanna hit this thing already and see how it turns out.

any ideas are still up for playing with. we dont even know if the acrylic sheets will hold us for repeated hits... so we might be upgrading to lexan anyway.

^ what about if your edges are ripped out you think it will work then

'Tanners going to win for sure, hes wearing bib number 420!'

Or if we scrape aluminum with our edge till it is kinda shinny and smooth

yea, i had an aluminum rail and it works for a while, but then (even with a shitload of wax) the aluminum starts peeling off and the edges get thinner. It will still work, but the edges get jagged and you have to grind them down or take them off.

is the material on the top lexan? also to join the top material to the actual wood box do you think that some sort of glue would work?

'You've got to run like an antelope, out of control'

no its acrylic sheets, not as strong as lexan... we didnt wanna spend $85 for a sheet haha.

yes our top sheet is glued with a construction adhesive we found at home depot. it seems to hold well

Looks cool. Just a question: were 12 long aluminum pieces not available? That, obviously, would have solved one of the problems.

[/b]SHAKE YOUR BLOOD

yeah man it was jack shit, only 3' pieces, and they were like $4 a pop each my dude had to pay. so for that alone it cost $32

Aluninum is not a good thing to use for coping. Its way too soft. Your skis will dig in and tear both your bases and the coping to shreads. Try using angle iron, its steel which comes in long pieces bent at a 90 degree angle. Definitely counter sink your screws, and tighten them every once in a while. I've been making high quality jibs for a few years now, an have been doing carpentry and welding for much longer.

^hey thanks but they didnt have any steel, atleast that didnt have holes in it for drilling.

You can use a drill press to put screw holes in steel. Angle Iron comes with pre-drilled screw holes usually. If you can't afford angle iron, don't use the aluninum, just take it off. That will do way more harm then good. You don't need coping on a box, you can either take the lexan or polypropylene sheet to the edge of the box or just leave that part of the wood uncovered (there will be anywhere from 1/8 to 1/2 inch gap depending on the thickness of your sliding material so you won't catch on the wood unless you're falling off).

^ya im pretty sure i check that out... but the holes were everywhere on both sides. and it wouldnt slide very good i dont think cuz an edge could catch in the hole. they were round holes either they were more (____) putting another line on top to display and example. and you would be sliding with ur edges parallel to the flat, and not the rounded part

no matter what u use good counter sinking is key to not rip out ur edges and fuck ur base

My pokemon brings all the nerds to the yard. And they're like, "You wanna trade cards?" Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I'll trade this, but not my charizard.

"I took the bullets outa fifty and put them in my fo five"

LINE kicks ass

No, that definitely was not angle iron. Specifically ask for angle iron, you probably won't find it at a Home Depot type place, look at a real construction supply place.

we didnt screw it in on top man, its screw in on the sides so it wont fuck our bases

You should still counter screw, for when you slide off.
