Boulder, CO shooting

Many guns used in chicago crime were bought legally in states like Indiana and Wisconsin which have loose gun laws. And its not a theory if you consider supply and demand. Reduce the supply, the price goes up

Like reducing the supply of drugs that are made in America so we then get them from Mexico? So in theory we can now just buy guns from Mexico? Nice that’s pretty neat

The argument, as its been explained to me, is that enacting stricter gun purchasing laws will raise prices and ultimately availability of guns sold illegally to criminals. Therefore having fewer guns in the hands of criminals. Isn't that what we all agree is the end goal? I have yet to hear a pro-gun argument that addresses a desire to keep guns out the hands of criminals.

The prospect of tighter gun laws insinuates the foot-in-door technique used by politicians, they will pass one little law, then another, then another, until guns are totally outlawed and all gun owners are on a public registry (see HR127)

I mean for fucks sakes I'm against tighter gun restrictions for law abiding citizens, I live in a very loose state and still hate the magazine restrictions, too bad I lost all of my magazines in a tragic boating accident :( but I still believe something needs to be done to keep ARs and glocks out the hands of psychos and gangbangers. Who disagrees?

Also to whoever posted about 3D printers firing high-tech guns, if you mean inaccurate single-shot plastic derringers, then yeah that's pretty high-tech

The price will still be higher and availability lower

Lmao

Srs questions, what is the price of illegal US guns relative to legal US store-bought and has covid effected the black market pricing? Because gun supply went way down and scarcity went way up legally, driving prices way up. I figure the same would happen on the black market if certain factors (legislation) reduced the illegal transfer of legally bought guns to criminals. Again I’m against gun laws, just want to talk this out

Welp. You officially lose. Good day.

Yeah that's not how it works. If you make a bunch of bird noises over someone in a debate and they tell you to shut the fuck up that doesn't mean they lose. and that's all you idiots are doing is chirping... like really?! you're going to try and reference Alaska state gun law like its some kind of giant gotcha. gimme a break. people up there open carry shotguns for bear defense... we have a concealed carry system here in Colorado. that was the point I was making. Arguing some stupid point about Alaska doesn't change that. you people are a bunch of fuckin clowns.

Funny you mention Mexico as the cartels mainly purchase their firearms from the U.S. through straw purchases... Republicans and the NRA spent millions fighting in courts and through lobbyists years ago to remove any gun control laws that were proven to make straw purchases along the border virtually impossible.

I’ll say one thing... it increases the quality for the price. I’ve never felt ripped off since I started buying from dispensaries... but every now and then if I bought from an outside source, it was shwaggy trash. I’m very much happy with my govt regulated weed tyvm

The black market price has been going down in large part due to legal rec weed and the homegrow boom. Black market dealers have to remain viable in their market by lowering prices. If weed were remade illegal to sell in dispensaries and seeds were again impossible to obtain online, black market prices would go back up. Prices did rise at the beginning of covid when people were buying up all the packs quick, and supply quickly dried up.

The same thing happened with legal firearms when covid started. Demand increased, supply decreased, and prices boomed. I believe that the post-covid legal firearm economic model can be used to predict the price of black market firearms if supply were decreased by introducing *proper* legislature. This would cause the price of illegal guns to go up and be ultimately harder to obtain. And like skierman said, many of the guns seized by Mexican authorities came from the US. That means cartels and gangs would also have to pay more to acquire guns. That would also mean the price of buying guns from Mexico is that much higher.

And people can keep downvoting me for saying many of the guns used in chicago crimes came from out of state. So here, 60% of the guns used in chicago crimes in 2013-2016 were bought legally out of state.
https://www.chicago.gov/content/dam... Room/Press Releases/2017/October/GTR2017.pdf

Also I'm still waiting for the stats of 3d printed guns used in crimes to come rolling in. Hasn't happened yet. I doubt that will ever be a very statistically significant percent of guns used in crimes.

I'm usually arguing AGAINST leftists and stricter gun laws, it's pretty amusing to see that both sides are very stubborn and unwilling to compromise. I'ma just sit here fondling this rifle and smoking this joint.
