Boreal park

I think you missed the point of my post right above yours. It's not about skiers and snowboarders. It's about fun features that make for some sort of progression and good times. It doesn't matter who there are more of or whos better and so on and so forth. Segregating skiing and snowboarding is antiquated.... leave it for the Nor-cal bros who haven't caught up.....

depending on how the snow holds out, the next evolution of this feature will be along those lines.

we'll put the dancefloor the long ways a couple feet over from the tube so the tube has an all snow take off but if you hit dancefloor at an angle you can still get to the tube.

I watched some kids getting downright nasty on that thing in afternoon yesterday. It's gonna stay the way it is until the snow forces us to change it.

eric-
The style of park you are building is way sick right now. When the season is in full swing and the features are spread out everywhere, you should keep a section that has tones of intermediate to hard features all in a row like they are now rather then having them all spread out. Kids X is fun in the winter but there is only so much you can do on those small features.

What we have up right now is very much the style of park that we will build below the superpipe this year..only exception is we are going to sneak in some more tranny snow features and some small but very POPPY hips. There will not be any medium/big jumps directly below the superpipe as a result. The jumpline will follow the chairline straight to the bottom ending just above that little building with the blue roof. Kidzx is going to be on the other side of Castle Quad from where we have the park now. Kidzx will finally have a sheltered home away from the nightpark and high traffic and it will be a very small, entry level, rideon park for little kids.

By finally having the room to make three parks out of the two that were out front we can better catter eacch park to its audience. Before we had to try and make everyone happy in kidzx as it was 1/2 of the night park. And below the superipe we had to mix larger jumps and jibs in a small space.

So, Kidzx gets sheltered space away from traffic and super duder cool guy rippers.

The jumpline gets its own top to bottom run in a straight line with better pitch. And below the superpipe we get to finally flex our creative muscle with out being cramped for space with the jumps.

Getting the new chair this summer and being able to do dirt work and redirect Prospector traffic as finally allowed us to unravel the custer that has always been out in front of the lodge for as long as people can remeber.

The park on 49ner is still going to be the pro level park with not much changing.

Dutchman will still be the very mellow medium park, still somewhat traditional in design but we do plan on stashing some tower tube features off of the run in some of those natural gladed areas.

BXcourse stays the same as well

Think everyone is going really be stoked with this plan.

that sounds awesomee! i'm definitely looking forward to seeing the combos that you manage to put up.

also, mad props on the paint job on the features this year! i love them!

the stacked boxes is a super progressive feature that is way more fun for snowboarders... A down flat box is way more progressive for skiers to disaster on to. With the park being as it is all we need is more people flying through the air and landing in the take off of the next feature. My last post was in no way saying that one was better then the other. I ride with predominately skiers and am all about anything that gets yo stoked on snow. (even you snowbladers you goofy asses)

word... but I really don't think anything should be built for snowbladers. I know I preach the whole snowboarding and skiing equality, but let's be serious, snowblading lacks in legitimacy in so many ways.
Back to what you are saying, I think it's just the opposite. A stacked box is more progressive for skiers because it's not a traditional style of jib we are used to. Thus we must progress our skills and creativity in order to hit the feature. Conversely it is already a fun and established feature for snowboarders who also have an easier time with the feature. The flat-down is a stock basic for both skiers and snowboarders and is only as fun as you make.

I agree with Jex. People are flying threw the air all over the place any how! Just riding for an hours this morning I saw EVERY feature gaped over completely. Even over the c box in the flat! People like air...

i agree with what u are saying kind of... I feel that there are features that are for skiers and features that are for snowboarders.. I guess you can say that both can hit an 8 kink rail, but it would be way easier on skies, and would not even be worth hitting for a snowboarder. a flat down in my opinion has been done way more over the years then this stack boxing idea.

It was funny listening to snowboarders call the swirly a skier rail because of the way you had to get into it, but that was an ollie on, so that would make it a snowboard rail.

Seriously why are you guys complaining about it being a snowboard feature or a ski feature. Does it really matter? Sure somethings may be a little harder for skis and somethings harder for snowboards but the park has to accomodate eveveryone. Maybe you'll have to olly a little higher to make it something but do you see the pros complaining that the park thier riding was built for snowboarders. If it wasn't for snowboarders there wouldn't be a such thing as newschoolers anyway and skiers would keep doing double daffys twister spreads. Give the snowboarders some props from bringing the park to the resort that we know today.

picture from this morning! I love how quick Boreal is to take advantage of the temperatures.

ahhhhhits sooo shitty not being able to ski when you have the oppurtunity almost everydaybig ups to boreal for keeping the snow aliveI would be so stoked if i could even hit the "snowboarder friendly" parkI MISS YOU BOREAL!

I dont really agree with snowboard only features. I mean the mini poles out of the ground like at the top of the lift over the barrel and then over the dance floor are easily hittable. and even the two boxes side by side you can do so many dif things like step 2sevs and transfers. and all the corrugated pipes are doable and you can do taps and all kinds of stuff over the tires. I think the "snowboard features" helps my skiing.

Thank you KC, that was exactly my point in my earlier posts. It makes us all more well round skiers.

Glad you guys(jex/KC) see it that way. All we are trying to do is keep it fresh, make it a bit more challenging and keep you guys entertained while we patiently wait colder weather and we can move into the real park leaving the beginner run behind. Trust me its not like we are trying to purposely make it "snowboard only" right now. Sorry it appears that way.

today was my best day of skiing probably ever, and it was my first day of the season. That down tube is so much fun. great park! thanks to the ppl that put it together

im in reno too! the park was sick today. i think you should put a lil more lip to the lookers right of the flat-down box on the stair case. just my thoughts. dont get me wrong though everything is soooo sick right now!

REE-NO....CLAIM CLAIM CLAIM. Best city every created.
Park is sick by the way... even though the snow smells like dirty dumpster sewer water.
Eric- I had one suggestion before you pull the podium box. Can you slide the lower box which comes first back the other direction so that you have to enter the higher box first. put the lower box towards the end of the higher box so that you can transfer onto the lower box after initially sliding the higher. Box. I know my explanation seems wordy, but I can explain it to you this week if you want to. A nice little 6" gap between the two would spice things up even more!!

When we get out of inversion and can make snow up there then for sure we'll switch up those boxes like you said. Right now the lower box goes all the way through the snow and is sitting on dirt. So we can't switch it up until there is new snow to work with as it would just turn up too much undesirable snow with no way to cover it up.

haha i know reno is pretty legiti was just quoting a mac dre songhttp://www.imeem.com/people/bqi9Ji/music/Wa12w6Jv/mac_dre_she_neva_seen/

boreal is awesome. i love the dance floor. sometime this year you should use the dance floor as the lip to a jump... so many possibilities
