Boreal park

with this new snow (barely any wich sucks..) but will it make any changes to the size of the jumps???

(bigger i hope?)

nothing bigger to come until we cna move into the core park on 49ner. We still need alot of help from mother nature to start that pro line. But on a better note..if you were the hill in the last two days you probably didn't miss the craziness going on prospector. We had to switch the run for th eupcoming us grand prix sbx course on account of the lack of snow on the planned run. Good news is that when we are done with that course, all of that snow is going into the accelerator jumpline line. The jumps will still be in the 30 ft range but it will expand to hopefully a 7 jump line.

In pipe news, we finally got a good cut on the new 22fter tonight. Let me tell you how much it sucked trying to finish that pipe in the rain the last three days with no freezing temps. Plan is to let it sit tomorrow while it snows, dig it out tomorrow night, let it freeze solid after the storm front blows through and open it to public for mon and tues. Public will also get some time in it the following week leading up to the rev tour before we have to send the 22ft cutter to Killington for the final event of the series.

We started adding rails below the watertank but nothing yet in rail alley unfortunately. But with a ft or so of new snow the guys should be able to start placing things there soon. There's enough to groom it as a run but there are some old tower footings below the concrete feature that need more to snow to build over.

the park is looking legittttkeep up the good work, you guys should put in that dfd that is sitting by the bottom of the pipeyessss

Our two week event marathon is coming to an end this weekend. Just a few more to go with Rev Tour Pipe today, slopestyle friday and USASA slopestyle on sunday. The Grand Prix was sick and even though it was a snowboard event you guys should still check it out on feb 14 when it airs primetime on NBC.

Things are starting to go back to normal around here and here is an update of what to expect these next few days:

1- pipe open to public fri-mon..closed starting tuesday for yet another rebuild as the 22ft zaugg is leaving for the tour finals at Killington.

2- SBX course deconstruction is underway and all of that snow will find its way into the jumpline over the course of several days. By early next week we will have a 7 line of roughly 35fters.

3-lower night park will be gettting remade over the next week as well.

4-still not enought snow for any significant expansion into 49ner/dutchman but we are going to get some snow this week to help freshen up what we already have.

5- in other news we took advantage of a little downtime yesterday to get the soon to be hip cutter into the start and start stripping it down for fabrication to start! we will be able to work on it a little this week but wont go at it full force until Jay and I finish the pipe rebuild.

Is it because of choice or necessity that you are not putting anything bigger in the jump line? I think a lot of people would really appreciate at least one bigger jump, especially if 49er is nowhere on the horizon. It's getting into Feb and it seems like big jumps are up all around the country, including elsewhere in Tahoe. Not trying to hate, the lower jumps were solid when I was there a few days ago, they're just kind of...dinky.

def stoked ur puttin the pro line up..... but 2 more 30 footers!?!?!?! there already five. a 35 to 40 45 would be nice.. basically the same as last years jumps under acclerator up top would be great..

Its by choice as that jump line is open at night and I feel no reason what so ever to have jumps any bigger open at night for very obvious reasons. Also, the the main park out front is our MEDIUM park. Regardless of the state of 49ner, the Accelerator line will always be overwhelmingly a medium park with exception of the last jump. The last jump may get a big/medium option if we get to the point that 49ner pro jumps don't happen for lack of snow as we do not have snow making on that run.

Those jumps are the worst in tahoe. I woul much rather see 3 jumps with longer landings and actual lips instead of little wutang bumps on a roller. 7 whack jumps aren't gonna wanna make people come when Northstar, Alpine, and Squaw all have legit jumps of various sizes. Just my two cents and I am sure they won't change because they haven't in ten years so probably not gonna start now.

i like the jumps under accelerator although it seems the landings have flatened out a bit. look forward to the new addition and the rebuild on the night park. have not rode alpine or squaw this year but have lots of time in at N*. the step up is good but the drop off and two step downs are not that great. the lips get seriously chewed up from all the traffic riding there and the braking bumps that develop between the drop off and the first step down just shows the poor flow. out of all the jump lines in tahoe i have ridden this year, boreal has been the best so far. keep up the hard work

dude no one was at boreal today, it was like empty. the new jumps being built look legit! this is kinda petty but i was just wondering if u could make the up box on dutchamn a little more... up? its kinda flat me thinks. keep up the good work E

thank you!!!!! i hear the new jumps lookin good.... sry bout earlier hate but needed to be said.. thank you for listening to the minority that ride boreal the most

We worked all day on the upper jumps. Henry tested them this evening but we didnt open them because the visibility when to poop. We'll see how things shape up with another foot of snow tonight. But the guys are working graveyard and they have been doing a good job of keeping the jumps open when it snows. We still have 4ft forecasted through Sun so expect the new jumps to change(we ran out of snow) by next week as we still really want to make the second one taller and push the first downhill a bit more to even out the flow. The idea has changed alittle bit on how the jumpsline will go. Up top where its steeper the line will be 30/40/40 the fourth jump may become a transfer table and then the bottom three will stay about the same...think it will work out good going from the steeper upper section to the flatter lower that way. THe channel in the fourth should give an escape route to the bottom three if blow your speed after the second or third..and if you nail the top three you will be hualing so you get the transfer as a bigger jump option. Thinking of the transfer to be a step up one direction and step down the other as well as one side shorter than the other. Should give 4 options of 30ft to nearly 60ft.

..E-

looks like the forecast is going to play out as promised:

today 11"

sat 2"

sun 8-14"

mon 6-10"

tues 4-8"

wed 6-10"

So when visibility allows we will continue farming snow into the upper three line to get the spacing better and adjust the heights to get the flow as good as possible. Our forecaster is also saying the snow will continue through the end of next week so until it stops the superpipe is going to continue to sit collecting snow until the weather allows for the rebuild back to 18ft...we waved good bye to the 22fter yesterday as it was loaded on a truck heading to the tour finals in Killington.

The upper three jumps on Accelerator will open sometime middle of the day on Thursday as there's just a little left to finish in the morning. The flow should be alot better and even between them. Once we know the speed is ok for them, then Hollywood will start working on teh transfer table as the fourth in the line. It will be step up on way and step down the other with a short and long side. Plan is to jsut build the takeoffs first, let everyone get use too it and us get it dialed, and then we will punch out the middle. When that happens, Hollywood will also rebuild the bottom three.

Tomorrow night we wil start resetting everything on Dutchman and work our way to 49ner by the weekend. At some point in the next few days we may even start pushing the pro jumps on 49ner but no promises yet. Pipe is still a project to be dealt with but there is so much snow that needs to come out of it we need to tie it into the rebuild of the lower night line below it.

The goal is within 2 weeks we wil have all parks fully developed and a 100plus features.

no one ever responds on the park blog by leaving a comment. you guys are always giving feedback and asking questions here so I'll answer or keep you guys as informed as I can. Personally I wish people would respond more to the offical park blog(www.borealterrainpark.com) more so I can keep all of this info in one place for more people to see.

-E- I don't know what's going on at boreal. I wish you guys had a legit park forecast so I could know when it's worth riding Boreal. Here's the scoop on the park, because it's obvious you guy's don't know. First jump is kind of janky... second jump couldn't even hit it cause it was closed all day the landing looked terrible though, third jump is dope but I don't want to spend all day revolving each run around one perfect jump. Did a third grader make the fourth one? It's fucking terrible! The lip is too small and way to far back. Are you doing this for entertainment, to watch people case it all day? Make the lip bigger, and how bout just one? You don't need to invite people below the jumps skill level to try it when there's no chance of clearing, hence rebuld. Jumps after that are terrible. The snow doesn't just evolve into a great jump, sorry, natural selection doesn't apply to your features, they take maintenance, you can't just let it sit there and rot. Landings are flat and lips suck, and the jumps are too small. I suggest visiting one of you neighbor resorts if you can't figure things out. Perhaps Northstar, Squaw Valley, Alpine any of them really. Also it may help to actually ride the jump before you open it to public, then maybe you'll know how the dissapointed patrons feel.

I think that is a little extreme. No other resort around posts updates like Eric does. The jumps aren't that bad. Yeah the bottom line could use some work because the landings are getting a little flat, but it just stopped storming and they have a lot of area t rebuild. It's still fun there. Just give them some time to get things on lock.

from what i hear ( idont ride anywhere else but boreal) we have the sickest jump line up right now in tahoe... wich is way sick!

just pumped that we have larger set ups! and i wonder how much more snow we need for 49er jumps.?

but the top three are the sickest for sure. so fun. but hopfully some rails? maybe some rail gaps?? that would be soooo wicked

i would like to see a step up and/or a step over. N* has a really nice one, something like that. the new jumps are fun. can't wait to see the new setup in the night park, looks like fun so far. keep up the hard work, some of us appreciate it

park is sick. rails are sick. hoepfully the new snow will allow for some new BIGGER stuff... like just HUGE would be sooo sick

MORE TO COME!!!!

Damn..will it ever stop snowing! We just rebuilt everything only to get buried again.....Hollywood and his crew will be rebuilding everything as the weather allows. I left them a long list of ideas as I have to travel out of town for two weeks. I hate to say it but this snow has come too late for us to build the big ones on 49ner. It's a solid two week push by two cats during the day to get those up and with potentially only two weeks of descent spring weather at teh end of march before it warms up in april it doesn't make alot of sence. By April with warm nights we struggle with those landings so I'm going to throw a curve ball at you guys and change things up. The 7 line will be no more. We will rebuild the top two as close to what would have been on 49ner. The third will puhed down into the fourth to make a start for the bottom three. In place of the two on 49ner we will extend both rail lines up to meet where the second jump would have been. I think the crew will surprise you all with some creative jib setups over there.

see you guys in two weeks

-E

ps-dont be offened if there are some blog updates from the freezing ice coast. its supposed to be 4F when my plane lands tomorrow!

Aww man! i was looking forward to the 49er line.. But as long as you do actually make the top jumps massive it shouldn't really be a problem. Its hard to believe that its almost spring time..

damn. sad to here no 49 jumps! but im super siked to see just how BIG the top jumps become.. i will suggest one thing, and that is when the new jumps do get up there should be some sort of way that will not allow retarded gapers to slay the jump decks and landings as large rollers... becuase that is always mildly scary and a possibility for a LARGE accident. but yeah im pumped off the news aout big jumps. and new rails! 49 rails are super fun right now eric, props on those! have fun on the east coast!

gonna be a mini-slope on the bottom jump of the seven line followed by this crazy jib island that eric drew up. There will 6 or so options including the mini d-f-f, spine coragated tube, dancefloor, gap to flat rail, and some buttering options. Should be pretty cool.

Also, becuase of the weather we have decided to cancel Expression for this week, sorry, just take that $5 and put it towards your entry into 3rd Rail.

stoked on the snow!

but so any word on the size of the big jumps yet and when they will begin building them?

rail alley is pretty fun right now. with the new snow the lips are no more wich is expected but at least we have more to build with now! hopefully it will be completely roped off and be HUGE!

idk exactly what the size of the jumps on 49 were last year but i remember them being BIG and i hope we could get some that big agian?? i think they were lik 65 or something?

the pipe reopened today. now that the pipe is complete I expect to see Jay start working on the jumps. I am not really sure about the sizing, that is up to the guys in the terrain park world.

break out your piggy banks. Boreal's Blow-out Sale starts this Friday. Slae is 10-days only, save up to 40% off.

$229 unlimited pass, ride the rest of this season plus all of 2009/2010

eric is on the hill pushing the jumps by the pipe as we speak. the jumps on 49er will not be happening this season. Snow just came too late.

The park should be pretty dope for the last weeks of shredding. Eric and crew should have the park crew should have everything dialed including:

Jumpline, Pipe, Lower Night Jib line, Rail Alley and 49er jib line. Dutchman will be closing after the 28th, so get it while you can. Pretty fun mellow park over there.

the new jumps are fun.. if anything could be one it would be to push the landings up a lil bit to increase landing lenght and less droppage effect
