Bill Clinton Calls Out GOP's War On Voting

Not that i'm pro-disenfranchisement, but not every effort to change voting regulations is actually a "war on voting."

For example, should college students be able to vote in the state they go to school (if it isn't their "home")? I go to school in New Hampshire, and am from NY. I'm allowed to vote here, so I do, but to be honest, state policy really doesn't affect my life that much, and you could make a very legitimate argument that my voting patterns will fuck up what actual NH residents want for their state.

Further example: two years ago, a student from my school (she wasn't from NH) got herself ELECTED to a county position because the students at my college voted for her. She was awful. Missed important meetings, didn't do things on time..generally was a college student about it.

So not that I am taking a stand saying that Bubba is necessarily wrong..but he isn't necessarily right.

As with any public policy, sweeping generalizations are nearly never fair.

I think what he is saying about the War on Voting is correct. but I don't understand why people give a fuck about him/listen to him.

yeah but he was a fucking terrible president, the only reason people like him was because the economy was good due to the tech boom and the asian economic crises kept down oil prices. all he did was cheat on his wife and lie to the supreme court.

Interesting position on what was and still is one of the most influential men in the world. I personally find him to be extremely insightful in about every position he has and think he is a great leader. I may not agree with every position that he has, but I think he truly cares and puts a lot of logic behind his beliefs and actions.

how can you say that he puts a lot of "logic" and "care" behind his actions when he cheated on his wife who he "loves " and was caught committing purgery to the supreme court. not to mention he supplied north korea with nuclear materials. I can really tell he is an "extremely insightful" man

Doesn't change his policies on everything. Plus perJJJury charges were dropped.

Plus that last part, complete bull shit. He did not provide North Korea with nuclear materials.

Stop being such a girl. There's no such thing as a prince charming. His good outweighed the bad. Bush Sr. supplied Afgans with arms when they were fighting the Soviets, guess what, there the Taliban now, no ones perfect.

Internet fight. Sweet. First, his personal life has nothing to do with my judgement on him as a leader. Most social leaders have screwed up personal lives and it is not our place to judge them for that because in reality we could never truly understand the circumstances. Second, from what I know Clinton was a strong activist in stopping N. Korea from making Nukes. And, if you want to bring the card of presidents supplying future world enemies you can bring up just about every past modern president in some twisted way.

Pretty sure that was Reagan...in fact, I am positive that it was mostly reagan, because the cold war was already winding down by the time bush sr was president.

i figured it out, you dont like bill cuz you a hipster feminist and sole reason for hating him is he cheated on his wife. You use these other semi true findings as evidence but your true reason behind it is he cheated on his wife.

His whole time he ruled in the back seat while congress drove. After his failed healthcare reforms, the republican congress is what had control, as his party lost seats in every election following durring his two terms except one. What is he known for? NAFTA, balanced budget, welfare reform... these were all the republican platform issues of the 1994 and 96 elections (Look up Contract with America). Furthermore, the republicans got a cut in the capital gains tax and a child tax credit

haha oh man. thanks for reminding me to keep trying to not get involved in political discussions on the internet

So... hold on... just to be clear, all positive things that occurred during Clinton's tenure were either driven by a just and wise Republican congress or a product of the tech boom, whereas all negative things that arose out of said tenure were directly Clinton's responsibility? Ok gotcha.

As far as the elections thing goes, if the Democrats could have run Bill Clinton in every Presidential election since 1998, they would've won every single time, including the upcoming election and probably the one after that. As a matter of fact, speaking of electoral reform...

you are reveling in the fact that a 17 year old Canadian can say completely stupid things?

Whatever floats your boat I guess.

(and give me one source that it was Bush Sr.)

how am I dumb, I have a legitimate opinion that I can thoroughly back up. just because you don't agree with me doesn't mean I'm totally wrong. I'm not an idiot, on the contrary I'm more educated than what is expected of me. just because I don't like someone whose popular for legitimate reasons doesn't mean I'm an idiot, it just means I just don't feel the same way as others.

well the post i had originally quoted, despite your "legitimate opinion that you can thoroughly back up", kinda tells me that you're fucking dumb. also saying things like "i'm more educated than what is expected of me" kinda seals that deal for me.

You are dumb because

A: You presuppose yourself to be correct about everything you have said. You are acting as if everyone else is stupid becasue they disagree with you.

B. Your reasons are hardly legitimate, you say he is a bad president, because good things happened, that he didnt cause. (congress pushing reforms and etc.)

C. Withdrawing from unpopular wars such as Somalia, after George Herbert Walker Bush already had people stationed there, isn't that bad of a thing. The american people wanted out.

D. And you have not thoroughly backed up anything besides saying buzz word events such as "somalia, welfare reform, monica lewinski." That does not count as backing up.

I was just amused about how americans could be blindsided by a guy like bill clinton. I'm sorry for making a statement that could be interpreted that way. and well come on, how many people actually care about other countries politics.

listen ill shut up this isn't worth it I really don't care, I won't post about this anymore. sorry for pissing you all off. I'm new here okay, give me a freaking break.

Senior had Marines there on peacekeeping missions for the UN...Clinton sent them there for Operation Gothic Serpent to catch Aidid. Two completely different engagments.

i'm just curious where you rank presidents like George W. Bush, or Herbert Hoover, or Nixon, if you consider Clinton so terrible
