Big Sky's Park

Jumps on swifty and maybe some rails on ambush.... Please :)))))

also could someone maybe clean up the side of the jumps a bit so we look more pro like breck?

THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH! also anybody have word on the jumps distances?

Lip onto/the first rail in swifty in general is kinda weird. Just my opinion. Everything else is fun right now! Although it would be sick if the end of the landing of the up tube/hip thing was a little shorter so you could land in tranny if you come straight off the top and not just to the sides. Not sure if that makes sense.

I hit the jumps a decent amount this weekend and they were nice sized for sure. A little issue with the wind and clearing the knuckles when it's howling straight up the hill, but what can ya do. They are prime and fun! The one thing I would say could make them better is a little softening. It's probably tough to get new snow into the middle of the pipe and up on those steep landings, but it definitely is tricky to try something new when you're worried about coming down hard on a real hard landing.

That's basically my thoughts, just a little softer landings and I will begin to huck an chuck and probably hurt myself haha.

Oh, I would also not be opposed at all to some Swifty jumps! It would be great to hit jumps and rails in the same run and use those mounds for more than just 180s and nollies.

Thanks for all the work!

So iv never been to big sky till this year so i dunno what the 08/09 line looked like, but i think we are a ways out from jumps in swifty sorry to say iv been striping runs of there snow just to get enough to put rails in the big mound of snow that is on the dog leg is going to become a jump one day and the dirt work that is there still needs a TON of snow to be able to start putting jumps on them

Im heading in to work now i hope to get 2-3 new features in swifty tonight, hip will be open 2m i know its not as big as last year but once agian snow is an issue. I come back into work on wed and will be going to town in swifty again to have even more features by this weekend

that year was just a bunch of mini tables. they couldnt have been more than about 10 feet apiece but there was a bunch of em.

Theres a good shot of them at 1:16 in this edit.

And again starting at about 2:09

They were really small, but so much fun.

Man that spring was so much fun...

2:23 was dope

But ya those are called 10 minute tables cause they take 10 min to build and id be down to do that.. but literally we have nooo snow in the park

It took me 3 hours of pushing snow just to get a down flat and a wallride in last night cause we have to push from so far.

But id totally be down for somethin like that

Yeah I understand the snow situation is limited. I just really liked them and figured I'd throw in my 2cents. I thought the park that year was super awesome. The jumps were poppy enough to be fun to just throw little stuff on, and having like 5 of em in a row was awesome.

Stoked for the hip though, that was sick last year. In general you guys are killin it mixing stuff up and whatnot.

The jump line was super fun today. Speed was not a problem. Also, those new rails in the swifty park are lookin good as well. Gnarly wallride

sweet good to hear ya the wall ride set up is burly, 2m night we will be putting in the big tank set up as a rail, down flat down rail, c box, and a pole jam with a 5 foot gap to land or you can take her big to like 30 ft to landing

Awww shit, stuff is about to be thrown down!! Can you make a pretty big gap drop off the barrel? Or setting it up as a tap/handdrag would be dope!

I am stoked as fuuuuuuu! Those 10 min tables would be sick as well just so we could throw down like backflips, 360's and 540's. THANK YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN for taking input from us!

big things goin on right now in swifty up to 15 features and still goin, the pole jam will be a snowboard feature for sure, the tank turned out being a huge feature big hand drag/ tap deal... I'd give the day guys a day to dig everything in. its dumpin right now so get shred pow 2m

Muahaha yay you took my advice. thanks so much! I will check it out tomorrow and over the weekend.

Loving the new features, they're photographing nicely too. fb and ns murk quality :/

Setup is def fun! Though i wouldnt complain if there were some mellower features for those of us that suck at park haha.

Barrel tap is awesome though, ive always loved that.

id say there is a great mix.

nate, please take everything said in this thread with a grain of salt. there is a huge mix in skiing style, preference, and skill level within the big sky freeskiing community.

with that said, i think you guys are doing a great job! I had a blast yesterday and appreciate all the effort to get a good line setup under swifty. keep it up and try your best to secretly make those jumps bigger and bigger every night!

ps - any way to make that lip and landing like 2x wider on the last one? way too narrow IMO

also, pushing a landing further out after the wallride would be awesome. I was sliding the top and carrying that amount of speed = a super flat landing. thanks!

For sure i saw people having the same problem.

Finally skied the jump line today though, they are on point now. All around awesome job this year.

Lapped the jump line pretty much all day once the sun hit them, so much fun! Seriously so much fun. They are perfect and wonderful the way they are, but I'm never gonna stop asking for bigger jumps haha

For sure. Im definitely not saying to pull the features that are in right now, I see dudes throwing down and they seem to be really well received.

the third jump on ambush is money. like has been said, don't be afraid to push something even bigger =)

about the rest of the park... it looks pretty rad. i have yet to bring out my park skis this season but might have to given the recent streak of tropical weather.

i also agree we need more beginner features but the issue is currently that we dont have many easy features (flat boxes and short rails) but we are in the middle of welding up some new features. As for bigger jumps i also would like to go bigger but our jumps being through the middle of the pipe creates issues of spacing. But i have requested by the end of the year having a fairly large jump next to the pipe.

I just got back from shreddin keystone for the last 4 days and plan on stealin some legit ideas i saw so hopefully after the whole dummy jump ordeal is over ill have some time to get goin in 2.0 and swifty again, and also explorer to get the little people hyped. a new 30 ft single barrell hand rail that we restored should be up befor the weekend

Are they doing it like up on the mountain? Or down in the village? Im kinda curious logistically where they are doing the concert and everything.

Wouldn't it be easier to just push all the snow from that last jump like 100ft down so its completely out of the pipe and then you can push the lip and landing as wide/big as possible? Then maybe use the snow from the 1st and 2nd jump to push 1 single jump big enough to maintain speed into #2.

Was just talkin to Dan about it tonight. Me and him will be lobbying for something bigger/wider. Let's convince Miah!

Ya man id be down for somethin like that we just have to still have something for less experienced riders to hit, the plan is to get me the winch cat again next week to build that last jump up more and id like to pull the last one out of the pipe completely when I do,

I think if I can get the last jump out of the pipe then that will leave enough space between 2 and 3 that you will be able to carry plenty of speed without taking down 1.

at the base, but over by the explorer lift. the huntley and hot tubs will serve as the party venue. thought it was kinda a weird spot, but guess it makes sense. this way they wont have to tear down all of 2.0 and then rebuild it afterwards.

Oh thats cool. Im just stoked to avoid the giant mud pit during the concert like last year. Should be sweet.

Dude so many drunk people are going to fall in the heated pool/hot tubs.

Haven't hit the new park yet though. Looks incredibly fun though. And are they trying to put a hip in 2.0 or what?

yo dog. i'm real happy for you and i'mma let you finish, but i just wanted to say that i got sustained chest-deep turns and a couple neck-deep turns today in the right part of the mountain.

lightweight and unbelievably deep!
