Does any one know if Big Mountain will open next Thursday? Besides answering that question this is a nice place to bitch about the warm weather and the rain. Let It Snow!!!

i doubt anybody's gone on the backside..that would be a longass hike. and i highly doubt there's enough snow on the grey wolf table. we had enough snow to build a small table behind kandahar and to set up some rails. snow is coming though don't worry abou tthat.

i hiked yesterday and took a run down marmot, the snow was pretty light but there were a bunch of little trees and not much of a base at all

Possibly opening on Saturday. Check the snow phone at 862-SNOW for an update, which they should provide later today.

eah it sucks. oh well. no use crying over spilt milk. next week will be ill. oh wait i forgot I WON'T BE HERE. dammit.

tis a sad turkey day....hopefully theyll have the frontside open too, by then we better have enough fucking snow.

no dude i'm pissed. my family is going to coeur d'alene on friday and getting back sunday night. my opening day will be pushed back another week.

Big Mountain got about 16 inches of new snow on Sunday and Monday, as well as the low temperatures needed to make more snow. The resort was unable to meet its traditional Thanksgiving Day opening date, but it now plans to open on Friday, a day earlier than previously announced.

“We know everyone is anxious to get on the slopes,” Big Mountain spokesman Brian Schott said. “We’re still calling Saturday our grand opening, but Friday will be a shake-down day. We’ll crank up Chair 1 and be skiing mostly on the back side, with Chair 7 and T-bar 2, as well as access to the village area via Russ’s Street.”

The resort will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It has a settled base of 36 inches at the summit and 14 inches in the village.

first chair friday!!!!!!!!!!!

^dude....

The lifts start at like 9 am right? Im guessing if you want first chair to be there at like 7 am if not earlier, people are hardcore.

Big Mountain is opening on Friday to locals only. Here is the report:

ocal’s ‘Shake-Down’ Day will get Resort in Motion for Dec. 2 Grand opening

We will open for a local’s day on Friday, Dec. 1 and will kick off the

official opening of the ski and snowboard season on Saturday, Dec. 2.

We received more than a foot of new snow in Sunday night’s storm, and

are busily preparing for the planned weekend opening.

“With the new snow, our operations team is busy getting the slopes

ready,” said Fred Jones, Big Mountain CEO. “The cold weather is giving

us a great opportunity to make additional snow and on Friday, we’ll

offer skiers and snowboarders a chance to come up and test the powder

as we shake down the resort before we officially enter our 59th year of

operation on Dec. 2.”

Ticket prices will be $36 until additional terrain is opened.

At this point, the most likely scenario is skiing and snowboarding on

Chair 7 (north face/Big Creek express/ 13 marked runs), T-Bar 2 (Big

foot t-bar/ 3 marked runs), as well as access to the Village via Russ’s

Street. Other aspects on the main face (Chair 1/ Glacier Chaser) will

be opened as conditions permit. Chair 6 will most likely open on Dec. 2

for access from the lower parking lots.

We will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the free SNOW bus

will begin operation to and from Whitefish to Big Mountain Village on

Dec. 1.

406-862-SNOW is the snow phone number and we'll be getting audio reports online soon.

Hm, working friday, but Ill definately be there saturday and will more than likely stay at a friends, so ill be there sunday too, i mean fuck, theres nothing better to do. :)

it was a very sick opening day. lots of nice pow. most runs down the front didnt get opened though so there should still be a good amount on those runs tomorrow. we poached down right under the chair for our last run because it wasnt open and it was supper sick. definately my favortie run. elevator on momentum has a pretty nice lip on it right now ans you can fucking launch the second roller.t-bar 2 to chair 7 was nice too.

Hells yes this kicked ass. I got first chair with anemonieve (Ben Fagen), and then first tracks down Blackbear and hollywood under Chair 7. Today kicked ass, and there is no shortage of crud left over for the rest of you. See you tomarrow.

Yeah man, today was sick. There still is some pow out there, but a lot of the backside is skied up. The snow was super light and fluffy. Probably the sickest opening day I've had, and one of the best parts was that there was no fog.

yeah the fog started lifting right as i was going down.. i had to leave at 12 because of a family trip to coeur d'alene. so i will be missing this weekend. shucks. oh well i got about 7 runs in.

caleb from Helena and I shreaded (sp) it up today, got some interesting snow, I will tell you that. I nearly got my pass pulled. And Haskill Slide might be the best skiing on Big Mtn right about now.

That looked pretty good from the elevator (momentum). A friend and I poached the front side a couple times and found some great turns.

Apparently, the park is supposed to Grandly Open this weekend. If they stick to this, and they are blowing snow, at least they were, it will be dope and there will be pictures.

yeah dude and they're claiming its going to be "montana's premier terrain park" lucky us! inversion today. gonna be siiiiiick.

yeah im stoked about more of the front opening tomorrow. it was so nice to ride in the sun shine today w/ zero lines. aghhh love it.

So, I went up today.

And, the park includes:

-A small jump, 10 ft ish

A flat box.

A flat rail.

A rainbow rail.

A flat down box.

Oh, and I made the Shot of the Day. Yay.

Thanks to Brendan for the shot.

yeah we checked out the park today. i saw the jump and didn't look at the landing and had waaaay too much speed and busted a big spread and landed on NO landing at all. somehow i ripped my toe back and it's all black now. shucks. oh well it was a sweet day. that inversion was sick.

dude i hit the park last night, me and my buds went and slid down the flat down box.....fun times

I hope soo much that they get the S-rail in for next weekend, that would make me very happy. And, the rainbow is very sick to disaster while doing a 270. Oh yes.

Dude, what the fuck guye?! You stepped it up huge this season on the rails man, nice work. Did you got a camp or some shit?

I saw your switchup on the rainbow too, was ill. The rainbow is fun as hell, really nice and smooth. It looks sort of big, but once you man up and hit it, its really easy. I swear to fucking god I tail pressed the whole thing, I was stoked. That little jump was fun to start out for the season to, Got to feel what spins on skis felt like again lol. So all in all great weekend for sure. The groomers were mad fast, alot of fun roller hits everywhere.

yeah for sure...but i am definately ready for a little more snow and some more open runs. the runs were getting a little repetative today.

lol yea. I only stayed on 2 runs all day.

From the top over to the park and back to chair one (really sick run, alot of jumps if you know where to look and other jibs and then the park of course :)

And whitetail down the backside. It's fast, safe to ride switch on, has a cool quarter pipe hit at the top of the mountain if you look close when entering whitetail, has quite a few little jumps and a fun roller near the bottom,

I hit Moementum once. Sometimes I enjoy just stayin on a couple runs all day cause I find all of the cool shit on the run.
