Big Mountain is opening on Friday to locals only. Here is the report:
ocal’s ‘Shake-Down’ Day will get Resort in Motion for Dec. 2 Grand opening
We will open for a local’s day on Friday, Dec. 1 and will kick off the
official opening of the ski and snowboard season on Saturday, Dec. 2.
We received more than a foot of new snow in Sunday night’s storm, and
are busily preparing for the planned weekend opening.
“With the new snow, our operations team is busy getting the slopes
ready,” said Fred Jones, Big Mountain CEO. “The cold weather is giving
us a great opportunity to make additional snow and on Friday, we’ll
offer skiers and snowboarders a chance to come up and test the powder
as we shake down the resort before we officially enter our 59th year of
operation on Dec. 2.”
Ticket prices will be $36 until additional terrain is opened.
At this point, the most likely scenario is skiing and snowboarding on
Chair 7 (north face/Big Creek express/ 13 marked runs), T-Bar 2 (Big
foot t-bar/ 3 marked runs), as well as access to the Village via Russ’s
Street. Other aspects on the main face (Chair 1/ Glacier Chaser) will
be opened as conditions permit. Chair 6 will most likely open on Dec. 2
for access from the lower parking lots.
We will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the free SNOW bus
will begin operation to and from Whitefish to Big Mountain Village on
Dec. 1.
406-862-SNOW is the snow phone number and we'll be getting audio reports online soon.
